The way I look at it is: The more they apply the words/phrases to asinine shit the less effective they are and the murkier the definition gets. It eventually reaches a point where it's just white noise and they either have to shut the fuck up finally, or move onto something else. Applying "woke" to the bridge tragedy(?) and its inevitable reconstruction will de facto turn away 99.9% of people, even those that would ostensibly be in their corner otherwise.

Trump getting re-elected will absolutely have damning consequences, and I'm equal parts curious and scared to see what makes the cut versus what doesn't. The Republican party has a finite amount of red meat for their base, but all of that red meat is, of course, absolutely fucking terrible in practice and so none of the idiots would want it once they have it. Plus then the Republicans can't dangle those morsels in front of their rabid beasts to garner support in future elections, sort of how like Roe v Wade isn't there for them to use anymore and is hurting them, and they don't like/want that.

Democracy is functionally dead at that point for starters though, so it would not remotely surprise me to see the west coast functionally if not actually secede. To see NY+NJ+New England do the same. Infighting, coups, raids and riots - it'll be a wild time and I personally ain't ruling nothing out. I'll just be eating my popcorn on my flaming dumpster floating down shit creek towards the void, probably.

The fact that Roe v Wade got overturned says all you need to know about how far they're willing to go to undo any amount of progress that was made over the years. Insofar that gender identity is a spectrum without, like, actual anchors/notches/whatever it can be fairly complicated. But, as a general rule of thumb, She/They and He/They would usually be non-binary/non-conforming people that accept (or look/feel like) more of one/a side than another without necessarily strictly adhering to said side.

Our language is very restrictive, so best practice is to ask for preference once you're introduced to or get to know someone. Everyone's a bit different and all that.

Yeah, it's very complicated and I'll admit there are aspects I still don't fully understand when it comes to that. At the same time however, it is important to stress that not everyone falls in line with the gender norms which have been placed upon society. When most people think of gender, they tend to think of the two widely accepted beliefs: The roles and one's biological sex. These are the social constructs in place that define the characteristics of what makes a man a man and a woman a woman, and it's ridiculous imo because not everyone is uniform in that way. Everyone is different, appearances, characteristics & interests vary among individuals.

With that kind of attitude, it's going to come to a point where you're just not going to see any LGBTQ+ characters featured in games anymore, and if you do, you're gonna get the ones that enforce negative stereotypes. This is what happens when you pander to this type of crowd. By appeasing them, you enable them, and by enabling them, you let the negative attitudes people hold towards the LGBTQ+ community fester.

Yes he goes on to give an anecdote about a trans high school girl he passed by. Yes, FF16 has two gay men in a relationship together - and they're even allowed to kiss (before ostensibly dying later in the game IDK I haven't played it) - but, like Life is Strange, that's just the "give me money" pandering. Because, yes, FF16 has a gay couple... but it doesn't have unambiguously dark-skinned people. And the same man, Naoki Yoshida, made a big deal about why that was the case and how their fantasy game couldn't have Them Peoples in the world/lore because the game was set in Medieval Europe, which, as we all know (is wrong lmao), was only ever full of White People™.

Kudos to what the people on the ground, the grunts, manage to get into games like Life is Strange and Final Fantasy XVI. Half a kudo for at least greenlighting Forspoken, even if the game starts with Fray being in legal/criminal trouble not once, but twice. As a young black woman. Negative all the points for entirely regressing on female protagonists and well-rounded women characters in general, circa the days of FF6, and instead just pander to the worst kind of people and overtly sexualize or infantilize the very small number of women they can even be bothered to include in their games these days.

Yeah, that's... unfortunately the standard approach in the US, too. Not with, like, anything in particular; with everything. Big part of why the world is in such a sorry ass state. It's cheaper - and there are less legal obstacles - to just throw stuff away than to donate it or give it away. So literal tons of "trash" is produced hourly, an insane amount of it being food or worn-exactly-five-minutes clothing, and... yeah.

A bit off-topic here, but I shit you not. Some of the kitchenware I own were things that people were willing to throw out. Last year, I came across a Corelle dinner set someone was throwing out. I guess they were moving and they couldn't take it with them, or perhaps they had a new one. Idk, but whatever the case, I needed a set when I moved into my new apartment and so instead of dishing out (pun somewhat intended ) about $100 in kitchenware, I took the dinner set off their hands.

It sucks we live in a disposable society where people willingly throw things away. It's not just bad for the environment, but there are people out there that could use some of these items. Give it to them!
