From an organizational standpoint, as Crystal said, likely chiefly related to maternity. Keeping your staff with specific specializations in relatively grouped areas and all that.

Secondarily, the... nasty undercurrent that holds that all men are rapist beasts. This would be the part that's pushing and fueling a ton of the current hysteria. All men are evil = all trans women are men in dresses = all trans women are rapist beasts and cannot be allowed into women's safe spaces. You'll note "safe spaces" was literally used.

I hate this logic. Hate it, hate it, hate it. I know a lot of trans women are ok with their anatomy, and that's great, more power to them, but I'm on the side of "get this thing away from me now!" I'm certainly not alone in my weirdness, it's a true burden, a daily reminder of everything I don't want to be. So to suggest that all trans women are looking to rape or are just guys looking to get freaky...ugh. Fuck that. When I was a supposed horny teenager it would take me MONTHS, literal months between...needs...to take care of that nastiness. I don't want to interact with it and there are plenty of trans women who don't, either. One blessing of hormones, going on over a year at this point and I'm not sad about that fact. So to those who want to claim us monsters are just rapists in disguise, go fuck yourselves!

Finally... because if there are specific wards for women, then naturally there should be specific wards for men too. Note this is one of the only times trans men have ever been mentioned by these hyenas. If there are specific wards for men, and specific wards for women, and all variations of trans folk aren't permitted treatment in either... you simply need to make every floor segregated and you're ostensibly legally permitted/required to not treat us. For anything.

If it's just a ward that specializes in a certain area of healthcare then people of all genders are generally allowed in it, aren't they? They're making it sound like anyone who isn't a woman is completely banned. Presumably doctors, nurses, and family members aren't restricted to only women. I'm pretty sure fathers are routinely welcomed in maternity wards.

Obviously this would be stupid even if it was a 100% women's only area for whatever reason, but I doubt that's the case.

Haha, nah, I get it - I spent, I don't know, a decade or more just playing the role of Ally? Trying to educate people, trying to help them figure out where their arguments and fears broke or went awry. Debunking bullshit articles, finding and providing legitimate sources, pushing back everywhere that needed it. Sometimes it worked, or at least appeared to; some non-zero number of people softened their stances when I was around if nothing else.

But... ultimately, why? And at what cost? Part of why I generally stay aloof on the wider internet is so that I'm not tempted to smite fools on principal alone.

I mean, it shouldn't matter, I've had a group of people consistently sending me death threats and pictures of dead trans women to let me know what's coming to me, I'm still standing, but I see one person on a forum going off about men in dresses winning sports competitions or how we're all going to the women's restroom to rape and pillage because it's just a good ole' time getting gussied up and growing a pair of boobs just to go frolicking...and I just go batshit crazy.

The only thing I’ll disagree with you on is the Chaz Bono/Caitlin Jenner thing. Those two dipshits took the struggles y’all go through and capitalized on them for attention. One, a child of celebrity parents with no real tangible “value” in the limelight beyond that, the other… outshined by their daughters and ex-wife. They both were rapidly fading into obscurity or into the background before they transitioned, and used their transition to launch themselves back into the spotlight. Honestly, they may have done more harm to the cause than good on top of that, because there are a lot of people like you and like I that view them that way. Their efforts may have been great for THEM, but it made a lot of people with limited knowledge of trans folks look at their transitioning as a cry for attention or relevance… which means that if that same person with limited exposure to trans folks met you, they’d be a lot more likely to hate on you since the only other trans folks they’ve heard of are the attention whore types.

In that same line of thought, tell me what you think of this… because this came to mind while typing my response. There’s obviously an overwhelming amount of people that think trans folks are predators, and more often than not… those people are the type that don’t actually know many trans folks themselves. With that said, there’s a very good chance that those people may have only heard of instances that made headlines either locally or nationally. Just like with anything else… a bad headline is gonna push more copies than a nice one. If you’re some backwoods motherfucker, and the ONLY knowledge you have of a “trans” individual is someone that you heard of in the town paper who (would’ve been a predator regardless) dressed as a woman to assault a woman, and Caitlin Jenner… what do you think your outlook on trans folks is gonna be?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to justify that kind of shit… but I AM trying to get in these folk’s heads and see what compels them to hate so blindly and with such ignorance, and as a token straight white male… I’d like to think that if anyone is gonna figure those fuckers out, it’ll be one of their own.

Understandable, completely and yeah, you're right. I think that's a big part of why those people get the spotlight, honestly. Let's make trans people look fucking terrible. It's why an average trans person will never make the news.

Of course, many people form their opinions from news sources and hearsay when they don't know or understand a subject. It takes education to truly understand a subject and education is where things are truly lacking when it comes to trans people. There's not much to be done about that for those unwilling to learn.

i know i only pop my head into this thread every now and then but i'll leave off with another small positive note. last night i had dinner with some friends, including one of them's mother who has known me since i first met her child in middle school. it was her first time seeing me in like five or six years! and she kind of jokingly said that i was sexier than her now (i haven't earned that yet but man was it nice to hear lol)
