Because the rich dont want to pay their fair share and buy their politicians to make sure they dont have to, and the country rather put obscene amount of money into the military than cut some of it and give it back to the people

Nah, fuck the rich, I ain’t buying that. If the money’s already sitting there in an account somewhere capable of snatching up everything an illegal immigrant would need to comfortably get by until their asylum hearing, then there’s no reason the money isn’t there for everyone else who needs it. The ONLY reason it isn’t accessible to those individuals is the same reason the pharmaceutical industry makes their money… a patient cured is a customer lost. A lot of democratic cities rely on having a substantial homeless population for federal funding, funding that rarely makes its way to the homeless intact before it’s skimmed by every hand it goes through until it hits the soup kitchen.

Agreed. Katie Porter, Mark Kelly, and AOC are three I fuck with.

Democratic party's issue is they are left of the republicans who want nothing but hate and pain for everyone. So those kind of people have to join the democrats if they want to have a chance to get anything done. Obamacare is/was great, I think Biden did some good things, but its really hard to do anything because of the republicans. And the democrats arent organized like the republicans. Obama did try to work with both sides and it fucked him over.

Its all a result of a two party system, gerrymandering and electoral college. And those in power will never change it, even if say Democrats wanted to abolish the EC, they'd need a super majority to be able to get rid of that.

Hey lets keep this on topic specific to the current presidential race and Biden dropping out and not re-litigate all of US history to this point.

Also here's what I was referring to earlier, just to show I didn't make it up:

At the risk of sounding like a luddite, how does this work, practically speaking? Zoom calls are limited to 1,000 people. Was it multiple conference calls, packed rooms of folks listening in -- that sort of thing?

I've heard theories that skid row was manufactured to drive down property prices so favorable companies could buy them up on the cheap, at which point the open drug use, blind eye to crime, and rampant homelessness will be moved elsewhere to do the same, and to allow those properties to rise in value.

I don't know how true it is, but it's certainly interesting.

Most funding and taxes come from those same cities to begin with. The biggest welfare states are typically republican ones, so those cities getting that funding are trying to fund themselves and everyone else

I’m not really familiar with the west coast, but I’ve seen very similar here. It’s all part of the gentrification cycle that happens in cities.

I'm wondering if it's just a case of "Kleenex vs. tissue" and it was a different platform, but they just referred to it as a "zoom call"

Either way, 40000 people joining a conference call at 11:45 PM is crazy levels of commitment. I wouldn't want to be part of a call with 400 people, let alone 40000.

I'm tickled pink at Trump all but throwing an outright tantrum over Biden stepping down. I love it.
He wanted to be able to say Biden shouldn't run, he didn't want Biden to actually not run.

lmao no one is even talking about Trump getting shot at anymore

Remember when people were like "omg he just won the election"?

Seems like forever ago

…I could make a joke about people considering shooting themselves at the thought of the future instead, but suicide jokes aren’t cool, but neither am I, so there’s that.

It blows my mind that a former presidential assassination attempt cycles out of the news in a matter of a week, but @Ants! and a few others called it… this ravenous news industry and the endless material provided to it waste no time moving onto the next piece.

Some of it is Biden stepping down and that is just things now. Trump creates so many headlines nothing sticks around for ever, part of it is his own fault. Also the assassin being a Republican probably takes a lot of the wind out of the sail.

I struggle with my department conference calls and that's just 50 attendees. Ugh! Idk how many times we have to tell people to mute themselves if they're not speaking smh

I know a lot of people are upset because they feel like Biden was the only "big name" that stood a chance against Trump but I'm more hopeful. Even if the Democrats don't win, at least my choice isn't old white guy or other old white guy. 🤷‍♀️

There have been more assassinations and attempts on presidents and candidates than there have been presidents to not run for a second term... especially after primary season is over.

You gotta stop popping in with these Snapple Facts like the Kool-Aid man. All you’re doing is proving how goddamn goofy this country was and is.

I've heard this morning that there is a small segment of the population making anti-trans rhetoric saying she's trans. Ugh.

Sounds like the ol’ “Mike Obama” gag rewrapped for this season. It’s lazy. I think the simple solution to this is to cross-reference pornhub search history with individuals who make those statements and see how the dots connect themselves.

Um are there no cats in the future??

You’ve seen them in Fallout. It must be real.

Something that impacts you rather directly, Mr. Blended family. (not the dumb-dumb thing)
Yes indeed. When my ex-wife and I were expecting our son, people kept telling me "you're going to be a dad!" and I had to kindly keep reminding them that I had already been a dad for several years. And even as recent as my last job, my old boss kept telling me (unasked for) that step kids aren't really your kids, and I shouldn't treat my teen daughter the same as my son (things like including her on my life insurance for example), until one day I had enough and told her off.

So yeah, I'm familiar with people's shitty attitudes about step children :/
