[2025] NFL Season Thread

Mahomes has made some bad decisions, but looking at his stats doesn't line up with the eye test. Almost half of his INTs arguably were not his fault (the one at the goal line where he threw a perfect pass to Juju, who tipped it into the air, the one where Xavier Worthy fell down, and arguably the tipped one in last week's game too). He's doing a lot of great work on the ground, and the team isn't asking him to do that much because we get 5-8 yards rushing on almost every play. Also, we always score on the ground when we get to the goal line. If those were touchdown throws, people probably wouldn't say too much about his stats.

Yeah, he definitely has had some bad luck, plus one of the worst WR groups in the league now that Rice, Hollywood, and Juju are all hurt. Adding Hopkins should help a lot; he's not young anymore, but he's still a massive upgrade over what's left. As Tom said, it's bizarre and kind of funny when you just look at Mahomes' stats. But he still has all the intangibles (and his legs) and you would still be hard pressed to make an argument for taking any other QB over him.

The defense is as much fun to watch as the offense right now. Their pass coverage ability (along with Chris Jones wreaking havoc) has been their calling card the last couple years, but this year they've sneakily clamped down on the run game too. They just make it really hard for opposing offenses to do anything. Spagnuolo dials up some awesome and timely blitzes. McDuffie reminds me of Charles Woodson in his all around ability to cover, tackle in the run game, and blitz the QB.

that was one of the more egregious missed calls i've ever seen and it's stupid that they can't review calls like that (if they were able to make that change for pass interference i feel like they should be able to do it for facemask calls too)

however i had the rams -6.5 so i'm not exactly bothered by how it all played out

The way it was looking I still think the Rams win that game. That facemask isn't what cost the Vikings the game, but it killed their chance at trying.

It's unacceptable, the NFL needs to say something about it and then they need to DO something about it.

It may not be "reviewable" but how many calls were prevented by the eye in the sky ref? The easiest change is having that ref able to throw flags too. Buzz into the head ref and he tosses a flag onto the field and makes the call. There is no time, in this day and age, an egregious penalty like that should get missed. I'm fine with the occasional illegal contact or hold being missed. But a facemask where the QB has his head facing backwards, in the end zone, with less than 2 minutes to go, should never be missed.

I just hope Maye doesn't run into long term concussion issues to be honest. He's fun to watch and has been playing great.
I blame me. He's my 5th QB in one of my fantasy leagues because of injuries. So I had to call him up.

I'm actually down to having to start Taysom Hill at QB now. THAT'S how my season is going.

Ok, the Bears completely blew Williams' comeback winning drive in a most hilarious fashion.

KNOCK THE BALL DOWN!
That was an amazing end though. Daniels is the real deal. 2 Years in a row the #2 overall looks better than the #1.

At least Williams doesn't look like a bust.

I mean Winston has his own merchandise chain dedicated to eating Ws, so it would've been shocking to see him drop it.

In other news, how's that 2025 QB class looking? Boy howdy am I glad we didn't trade up for Richardson like all the rumours were suggesting.

Quinn Ewers and Shedeur Sanders are the best prospects.

Sanders is highly overrated and Ewers was just benched for Arch Manning.

It's a very Raiders year to suck.

this Jets-Texans game is the worst football game I've watched, and I've watched a lot of bad Browns games...
Corley taking a reverse 16 yards for a TD only to drop it before the goalline resulting in a touchback is the most Jets thing to do.

The team is a joke.

And they continue to forget their best player is Hall and stop giving him scripted plays and instead run him up the middle (the weakest part of his game) 15 times a game and wonder why they can't move the ball.

That and Rodgers just sucks.

I mean the Ravens are scoring on average 40 points per game over the last 6 weeks or so. It's insane.
Meh - Lamar will choke in the playoffs when the cold aches his brittle bones and then the Chiefs will make it to the SB and we'll get two weeks of why Mahomes is amazing even when it's the defense carrying them. I've seen this plot many times by now.

From your lips to the football gods' ears.

I hate the Ravens. I'm tired of the Chiefs.

I would love the Lions to win it all.

I mean I'm a Raiders fans, the football gods are clearly just out to torture me.

I've always been a fan of parity for any form of competition, I get bored when it's the same ol' every time.

Bungles deserve to lose this game. Shit tackling, shit playcalling.

Edit: Then in one play, Burrow tosses a bomb to Chase and ties the game.
Ja'Marr Chase has given me 60 points in my league of record.

I don't care how bad they've played. I want OT and another 70 yard bomb to Chase

Literally two penalties on Baltimore on the conversion that don't get called. This was the first full game I watched all season.

This is why I don't even watch NFL anymore as a casual fan, I'm not invested in who wins but the officiating continually makes this an unwatchable product even when you don't have a vested interest in who wins.

Pathetic - but at least I know it's still terrible.

It was before that. I made a comment to a friend during the game that they are letting Baltimore MUG Cincy players. They ended up calling two penalties on them right after, but between the two on the 2 pt. conversion, they missed at least FOUR penalties on the last drive.
