Normally, but McAvoy was out there with 4 lefties. He's a righty. There wasn't one that really could have.

But at some point you have to learn to clear your zone, right? Like... it's ridiculous how much they allow teams to have their way in their own zone.

People have played those moments with the wrong handed stick before. He had the positioning to be able to stop the goal had he had anything in his hands.

Oh, I agree, if he had a stick he likely ties up Barkov and that's not a goal. I've had to play witha wrong blade though, and you'd be surprised at how much harder it is. You can't clear anything. But there were half a dozen chances for them to clear long before that.

If it makes you feel better, after the Bruins put up a good first period doing all the right things last night, Montgomery literally said in his bench interview:

"We need to stop just throwing pucks at the net and need to find an open man."

The team then went on to generate a total of like 5 shots in the 2nd and 3rd periods. I like Monty, but if you're legitimately thinking this in the playoffs when it's clear it doesn't work, you shouldn't be a head coach.

This gives me vibes of Claude Julien all over again when he just tried to win games 0-0 all the time...

Dump, forecheck, get guys to the front, shoot = success

So, let's get away from that and fall into bad habits and not be able to clear the puck from our end again...

Frustrating because they let Florida right back into it instead of getting in Bobrovsky's head and wasting what was a spectacular playoffs from Swayman. I'm willing to bet Ullmark starts game 3...

Wouldn't mind the Leafs hiring Rod if he gets fired by the Canes. Honestly, I feel that'd be our best option over promoting Guy Boucher or anyone else on the coaching market. AFAIK, we've been linked to Berube.

Just changing the logo from Adidas to Fanatics is not much of a change. However, I'm interested in 26-27 when they put their own flair.

They keep getting away from what worked in the first game to the same old carry through the middle BS that DOESN'T WORK WHEN THEY PLAY A 3 MAN TRAP DEFENSE...

I keep coming back to Mighty Ducks 3 watching this team... "This isn't Pee Wee. Your little duck tricks aren't going to work at this level." Like this is the playoffs. You won't have room to carry through the middle and one-time everything.

Sorry... this is a coaching problem. If Montgomery is going to piss away this playoff performance by Swayman because of some dumb stubborn need to not adjust, then he's got to go.
