Bingo! Dino DNA.
I don't know how you churn these out in literal seconds, but that is fucking bad ASS!
I can't really take credit for any of it. I just type words at DALL-E and it does a real good job making those thoughts seem coherent.

Now I just need y'all to come up with some names for me... because I suck at that part and you all have fun names!
Similarly, it can spit out character name ideas and crap, too.

  1. Jontarion Gearspark - This name suggests a character who is both intelligent and skilled in the art of crafting intricate mechanisms.
  2. Jonarith Hellsprocket - Implies a background with infernal influences, combined with a flair for mechanical creations.
  3. Jonalix Infernus - A name that hints at both arcane knowledge and a connection to the infernal heritage of Tieflings.
  4. Ionforge Mystik - A variation of Jon, focusing on the mystical and mechanical aspects of an Artificer's expertise.
  5. Jontek Arcaneweld - Suggests a blend of arcane magic and the technical prowess of an Artificer.
  6. Nijon Embercraft - A play on the name Jon, indicating a talent for creating items imbued with both magic and the fiery essence of a Tiefling's heritage.
  7. Jorvex Pyroclink - Combines the essence of Jon with a hint of pyrotechnics and mechanical ingenuity.
  8. Jonarim Blazegear - Evokes the image of a character who specializes in creating fire-based gadgets and tools.
  9. Jontimus Primeforge - Suggests a character who is a master in the art of forging and enchanting arcane devices.
  10. Jovix Flamecoil - Implies a knack for creating intricate devices that harness both the power of fire and magic.

I think I am screwing up the profile image part. I can't copy your image as a path and post it. The forums are shorthanding and cutting everything off. What exactly am I supposed to put in the character image portion?

Sometimes GWF doesn't rename the attachments on upload. They were getting converted to a number string the first dozen times I uploaded them, but sometimes they're just putting them up with the full filename, which might not work as well in the custom field since it's limited in length. (edit: Might be the difference between me doing it from my phone, and on my desktop. 🤷‍♂️ )

I reuploaded that one and just mashed some random numbers. Try dropping the below string into that Character Image field under the profile settings.

So it looks like there isn't enough characters allowed to upload that image. I can fit everything except the "64" at the end, which is breaking the image in the profile.

I think I was the only one left without one and I got Ben to do my dirty work. :link

Now I just need to find some time to guess how to make a character on D&D Beyond. That shit is Greek to me.

Lol, D&D Beyond doesn't let me select artificer... :(
Yeah it's not a base class in 5th Edition so without extra source books it's not gonna give you the option.

We can make it work but it would involve you manually making your character which...sounds like you'd likely need assistance there.

There's another option where you could possibly do it on Beyond but I'll need to be at home to look into it...

You can let me know. I'm obviously not in a position to buy the book right now, so I'll just make a different class if need be. But it's back to what are we lacking.

A Tiefling Artificer in Dungeons & Dragons is a unique and exciting character to play, combining the innate abilities of the Tiefling race with the inventive skills of the Artificer class. Here's an overview of their role, playstyle, stat distribution, and equipment: ###
Role in the Party: - **Support and Utility:** Artificers are known for their ability to craft magical items and gadgets, providing support to the party through healing, buffs, or utility devices. - **Versatility:** Can fill various roles depending on the chosen subclass, such as damage dealer, support, or even front-line fighter.
Playstyle: - **Inventive and Strategic:** Leverages a mix of magic and technology to solve problems and enhance combat effectiveness. - **Use of Gadgets and Magic Items:** Frequently employs custom-made items and infusions to aid in various situations.
Stat Distribution: 1. **Intelligence (Primary Stat):** Key for spellcasting, crafting, and Artificer abilities. 2. **Constitution:** Important for survivability, especially if front-line combat is expected. 3. **Dexterity or Strength:** Depending on whether you focus on ranged or melee combat. 4. **Charisma:** Useful for social interactions and leverages some Tiefling abilities. 5. **Wisdom and Strength/Dexterity (Secondary):** Depending on your focus, one of these might be less important.
### Tiefling Racial Traits: - **Innate Spellcasting:** Access to spells like *Thaumaturgy*, *Hellish Rebuke*, and *Darkness*. - **Resistance:** Typically, fire resistance, which is useful in various combat scenarios. - **Darkvision:** Ability to see in dim light, which can be beneficial in dungeon crawls and night missions.
### Equipment: - **Light or Medium Armor:** For protection while maintaining mobility. - **Weapons:** Depending on specialization, can range from crossbows to hammers or even arcane firearms (if allowed in your campaign). - **Artificer Tools:** Essential for crafting and using Artificer abilities. - **Magic Items and Infusions:** Customizable to fit the needs of the party and personal playstyle.
### Subclasses (Specializations): - **Alchemist:** Focuses on creating potions and elixirs for healing and buffs. - **Artillerist:** Specializes in magical artillery, like cannons or firearms. - **Battle Smith:** Excels in combat with a blend of martial prowess and magic, often accompanied by a steel defender (a mechanical companion).
### Tips for Playing a Tiefling Artificer: - **Leverage Your Inventiveness:** Use your crafting abilities to prepare for anticipated challenges. - **Balance Magic and Mechanics:** Find a balance between using spells and gadgets. - **Collaborate with Your Party:** Work with your team to understand their needs and how your inventions can help.
In summary, a Tiefling Artificer is a versatile and creative addition to any D&D party, capable of adapting to various roles and scenarios. Their mix of racial traits and class abilities makes them uniquely suited to situations that require a combination of magic, technology, and cunning. Remember to tailor your character's skills and equipment to both your preferred playstyle and the needs of your adventuring party.

As Vash pointed out, it isn't a base class so I guess whatever page I grabbed classes from thinking they were base lied. I thought it was included on DnDBeyond, as it seemed to include Ebberon stuff.

Looks like you can buy individual pieces of the books for like $2 each, and Artificer was in Tasha's Cauldron of Everything. I'm don't know if you get any extra options if the DM you're playing with owns those given books... 🤔

I love working at my computer via candlelight right looking at it.

Yeah, I subbed to Master tier the other day, haven't had a chance to play with it too much.

The pain point for me with Beyond has always been that I have all these physical copies and don't want to double dip for digital. Wish they'd just figure out some sort of digital code insert with the books, but that doesn't fit the business model of WotC these days lol

WotC: Physical mediums? You troglodyte. Purchase that shit a second time so if our servers go down it vanishes into the Nether.

More money for the money god.

Did this already get posted? Kind of goes through character basics as well as how to use D&D Beyond specifically.

I'm trying to work it all out myself. I also subbed to the Master Tier and grabbed the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide and Monster Manual, and I sent Vash Tasha's Cauldron of Everything so he's got access to Artificers. Even if I don't end up using it here to help run separate campaigns, I've got hopes I could get my oldest kid into playing. Especially since there are a few collaboration packs like Minecraft, etc.

Alright.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ADDING YOUR IMAGE TO YOUR PROFILE.

If I posted something you're using (or if down the road someone attaches their own character image on a post somewhere), easiest way is to just right click and copy image link. If you're on mobile, generally press-and-hold on the image gives the same option to copy the URL.

View attachment 5204

You'll copy the full URL like 'https://gwforums.com/attachments/1000003787-png.5092/'.

Go to your profile and click under Account Details.
View attachment 5205

Scroll to the Character Image field and paste the URL in there, then delete everything except the chunk as shown in the description. So of that URL of 'https://gwforums.com/attachments/1000003787-png.5092/' you want to just keep '1000003787-png.5092'.

View attachment 5206

Save your changes, and the attached image should show under your "more" information.

Character Sheet is the same, except you're just taking the number from the end of the 'https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/115155185' link and entering that into the custom field.
When I copy my Image Link it's doesn't seem to work. I was trying to copy the image link from second image here: https://gwforums.com/threads/character-creation-discussion.1398/post-84489

But no bueno

Pretty sure the way it works is I invite you to a campaign where I share my materials and you can then make an artificer as long as you're in that campaign

Thank you Ben!!!
As I told Vash, I'm more than happy to be able to help facilitate us doing something other than Wolf. 😊

Although, I'm not sure I'll be able to actually create it because **I** do not own it, lol
You should be able to. Once the DM starts a campaign they get a link to share with players, up to 12 in one campaign and separate 5 campaigns.

As Vash said, materials the DM owns can be shared amongst the players for as long as they're in that campaign.

So you probably can't make the character until a campaign is started, but would be able to after that point.

Do you take PayPal?
We could find a way to facilitate this, although I'd think if there's anything someone wants included in a campaign in particular, they could just purchase it as a gift and send it to the DM. Most of the books I saw let you buy things piece meal, usually for $1.99 a thing, so you could enable us to include a race/class/spell/etc. without breaking the bank.

I'm trying to tell myself I don't need to buy another $60 in books after dropping that much just on core content...

I'd definitely advise anyone making characters to wait for our rich benefactor's campaign link because they have absolutely jack shit for options when it comes things like backgrounds on D&D Beyond if you haven't bought anything. You can make your own homebrew versions of existing stuff to get around it but it's a huge pain in the ass and I don't know how it works for joining campaigns and such.

These are the only vanilla options

Eldritch Blast is a cantrip anyway. I can cast one every round. Every round is 6 seconds. If I sleep 8 hours a day, that's 16 hours available to Eldritch Blast. That's 9600 Eldritch Blasts. And don't ask me when I level up and can cast multiple blasts at once
