Every year teams need defense to compete. Every year playoff teams overpay for mediocre defensemen at the deadline (and offseason). Every year, teams STILL need defense.

The moral is, every defenseman sucks because they all want to play offense. Which... is fine... Just stop paying mediocre defensemen a ton of money and inflating the cost. Defense is always a problem. No one wants to play dirty in front of their own net anymore. So scoring continues to rise.

In summation... don't worry, EVERY team needs defense always, because every defenseman plays offense not defense.

Well, the Coyotes aren't done yet, per say. Should they come back as an expansion franchise, then that opens up the doors for Atlanta coming back too as that's been discussed.
