Question: how will collegiate hockey adapt, if it has to, to all the realignment changes affecting FBS-level college football? As for the college ranks: UMass is showing that we have more than expected in us this year. Already splitting a series with Michigan and sweeping Minnesota State. We have a tough test this weekend against BU though. Hopefully we can get back to tournament form - it's been a couple of years since the National Championship, and it would be nice to make some noise again.
Most hockey conferences are single sport conferences (the B1G being a major exception). The only thing that would impact college hockey conferences would be a rule making single sport conferences no more. If that were to happen it would likely be the case that conferences like Hockey East would operate under the banner of another conference that at least one member is in, probably function the same way as the CAA where CAA football is separate from the rest if the sports.Question: how will collegiate hockey adapt, if it has to, to all the realignment changes affecting FBS-level college football?
Wrists too for sure.I hope they mandate the use of neck and wrist guards. Watching some of these cuts down the years (lest we forget Clint Malarchuk), it's a miracle this is the first time in recent memory this has happened.
Yep, exactly! I look back on Patrik Nemeth's injury during his time with the Stars. He was out for months and came back fully armoured, neck guard, wrist guards, and he was much happier overall.Wrists too for sure.
Last season Evander Kane had a really nasty skate cut on his wrist. I think he missed a couple months, but it legitimately had the potential to be a career ender.
Absolutely agreed, he's going to need a lot of support and lot of counseling to get beyond this.Truly scary. So sad for his family.
And especially for the guy whose skate caught him. I can't imagine the emotions of accidentally killing someone.
Congrats on the vomit party.
EDIT- Damnit, this will forever be my 1000th post
Winter Classic
I'd love for Carolina to move back to Hartford where the fans deserve a team.
I'd love to see the Carolina Hurricanes do a throwback to their days as the Hartford Whalers, complete with classic jerseys and all....

Don Cherry's only redeeming quality was giving us Hurricanes fans a great informal moniker...I miss being able to watch Don Cherry
So we 'Canes fans ran with it..."Young men expressing themselves for joy of winning. You don't do this thing in professional hockey. What are these guys? Jerks or something?"
"I know what I'm talking about. You never do anything like that. They're still not drawing. They're a bunch of jerks as far as I'm concerned. Imagine Justin Williams doing stuff like that."
May those poor, poor couches rest in peace. They gave their lives for his jacketsDirected by The Man of a Thousand Furniture Jackets....

Been a quiet day for the Leafs on trade deadline day, but honestly, I feel more relieved Treliving didn't make any major moves. Going by the candidates he was looking at, it's more likely to be disappointing than any good.
Ilya Lyubushkin, Joel Edmundson. Yeah, not exactly the kind of players this team would benefit from imo.
Grit
Yep, not ideal!Ilya Lyubushkin, Joel Edmundson. Yeah, not exactly the kind of players this team would benefit from imo.
He's focusing on bringing in players who play that physical, gritty game, and that I don't have an issue with. The issue is when he's bringing in people who are just not good hockey players, or those who are past their prime (poor Klinger).Yep, not ideal!
