Ruffian succeeds on Strength saving throw
Determined to intervene but keen on avoiding further escalation, the Goliath sorcerer decides to employ a subtler approach. With a deep breath, he channels his innate magical energy, focusing on the element of air. Raising his hands, he mutters an incantation designed to produce a strong blast of wind.
As the final words of the spell leave his lips, a sudden, forceful gust of wind emanates from his outstretched hands, directed straight at the ruffian. The wind is powerful but non-lethal, intended to shove the gang member off of the cleric and possibly into his own companion.
The ruffian, caught off guard by this unexpected burst of wind, staggers backward, his movements thrown into disarray. His hair and clothes whip wildly around him as he struggles to regain his balance and composure. The gust, while effective in momentarily halting his actions, is not strong enough to move him away from the beleaguered Cleric. But it DOES catch his attention and his head swivels to look back at the rest of her party...

...just in time to see Ben Zine step away from the table and lock eyes with him. The warlock's entrance to the fray adds an ominous air to the already charged atmosphere. Seeing the potential for the situation to escalate further, the warlock decides to take decisive action.
With a fluid motion, the Warlock extends a hand towards the ruffian, and an arcane symbol glows briefly on their palm. They utter a word of power, a sound that seems to resonate with the very fabric of reality. The air around the Ben Zine's hand crackles with eldritch energy, gathering into a concentrated orb of shimmering, malevolent light.
Suddenly, the Warlock releases the energy in a blast of raw magical force. The eldritch blast streaks across the room like a bolt of lightning. Its eerie light casts long, dancing shadows across the walls of the Yawning Portal as it speeds towards its target.
The bolt catches the ruffian directly in the chest, aiming for his heart. The force of the blast not only sends pain screaming through every nerve ending in the tough's body, but immediately halts any advance he may have been planning.

Nootie stands there conflicted for a moment as one by one the friendly patrons he was sitting with each begin unleashing their own brands of attack against these strangers. Being unwilling to fight, but knowing his tablemates seem to have mostly good intentions, he calls out to the nearest Ruffian from across the tavern.
"Hey pal, y'all got anything better to do than beat women when people are trying to enjoy their meals? And four on one? Kind of a pussy move if ya ask me!

The other patrons of the Yawning Portal, witnessing this unusual display of magical prowess, can't help but react—some with laughter at the Bard's cutting words, others with a newfound respect for the power of a Bard's magic.

Cookie shakes her head trying to regain some wits after the blow. That had hit harder than that cast iron pot that feel off a shelf and dropped on her that one time. Surrounded and not thinking she could with stand another hit like that she pulls from her recent knowledge and goes with what worked before.

The goon's attempt to advance is abruptly halted as the full brunt of the spell takes effect. He collapses to the ground, lifeless, the potency of the Inflict Wounds spell leaving no chance for survival.
In the wake of this second use of the spell, the atmosphere in the tavern shifts. The remaining troublemakers, recognizing the lethal capability of the halfling cleric and her allies, begin to reconsider their actions. The cleric, her duty to protect the innocent and uphold the values of Oghma fulfilled, remains vigilant.
The gang members decide the only way they may see tomorrow is to drop the cleric and run.

The ruffian swings at Cookie in a mix of rage and humiliation due to the aspersions cast by the Cleric's avian companion. His blow seems sure to fell the halfling, but just the slightest moment of hesitation from the man allows Cookie to get her shield up in time to catch the killing blow.
His hooligan pal, witnessing the ruffian's failure, attempts to capitalize on the moment and strikes at the cleric. However, Cookie is prepared. She deftly sidesteps the attack, her small stature and agility allowing her to evade the gang member's aggressive but predictable move.

However, as the blast nears its target, the ruffian, still disoriented by the sorcerer's illusion, stumbles backward inadvertently. This sudden movement causes the blast to narrowly miss him, the energy passing by so close that it ruffles his clothes and sends a shiver down his spine. The blast loses direction altogether after missing its target, and thankfully skirts above the heads of the nearby onlookers, before smashing into the far wall, dissipating upon impact.

Nootie continues shouting from the sidelines.
"Yer doin' good, Cookie, these guys kinda suck." He locks eyes with the Hooligan. "Especially that guy"

Shouts of alarm suddenly ring out as a hulking creature climbs up out of the shaft in the middle of the taproom — a monster with warty green skin, a tangled nest of wiry black hair, a long, carrot-shaped nose, and bloodshot eyes. As it bares its yellow teeth and howls, you can see that a half-dozen bat-like creatures are attached to its body, with three more circling above it like flies. Everyone in the tavern reacts in fear except for the barkeep, Durnan, who shouts, "Troll!" The barkeeper then produces a greatsword, vaults over the bar, and joins the fray.
The remaining two gang members see this as the perfect time to get the hell out of here, and attempt to dash for the door.

Her first thought is to run herself. She took quite a big hit already and is feel rather drained. She does not feel she has the strength at this time to channel whatever knowledge that Oghma had granted her, in her time of need. Still she pushes aside the thought of running. This tavern had shown her hospitality and in return it was her duty to defend such a place as this that brings so many together. And with that togetherness sharing of so much knowledge.
She pulls up her crossbow and takes am at the troll. Feeling rather inspired by her avian friend Nootie's encouraging words to her.

Cookie releases the bolt, and it whizzes through the air, striking the troll. The impact of the bolt causes the troll to roar in anger, its attention now fixed on the cleric. While the bolt alone isn't enough to significantly harm the troll, it serves its purpose in distracting the creature and potentially hindering its initial assault.
The stirges that were attached to the troll, now fully engorged with troll blood, detach from the 9 foot tall monster and fly back down into the eponymous portal to digest their meal. The remaining three stirges flit around the troll's head, looking for their own meat bags to feed off of.

(( Earth Tremor has a range of 10 feet, so you'd have to get closer to the troll to cast that. You are currently almost exactly 50 feet away, and can move up to 30 feet with one move action.
In the future I'll try to use grids on all my maps to make spacing easier to ascertain, was trying something different this time but I'm not liking it as much.))

Lok sees that the stirges look like a cross between a large bat and an oversized mosquito. Judging from how they acted with the troll, and their long proboscis, you assume they are blood-suckers.

"Aw what in the..." Nootie freezes for a moment at the sight of this monster, but upon seeing the others spring into action, his hand goes to his crossbow.
He cautiously moves 30 feet toward the troll

The weapon, named for its ability to "vault" its wielder to victory even in the grimmest of battles, cuts through the air, releasing a surge of magical energy as it connects with the creature. The impact is more than just physical; Grimvault's enchantments unleash a torrent of arcane force upon the troll, dealing massive damage.
The troll, caught off guard by the ferocity and magical nature of the attack, roars in pain. The wound inflicted by Grimvault is severe, and unlike any injury the troll has sustained thus far.

Two of the stirges collapse onto Durnan, hoping to snag a quick meal as he's distracted by the massive Troll.
The first stirge attaches itself to Durnan's arm, its proboscis piercing his skin with surprising speed and precision. Almost immediately, it begins to drain his blood, its body visibly swelling as it ingests the life-sustaining fluid. The second stirge finds purchase on Durnan's shoulder, similarly embedding its proboscis and starting its own gruesome feast.
The pain and shock of the sudden attack momentarily distract Durnan, his attention diverted from the troll to the immediate threat clinging to his body. The stirges' Blood Drain not only causes physical harm but also saps Durnan's strength, the loss of blood threatening to weaken him during this critical moment of the battle.
Durnan takes 4 piercing damage!
The remaining stirge sees a much larger, juicier target: Lok Ahl, the Sorcerer. The stirge darts towards him with a swift, determined flight. Before the Goliath can react, the creature attaches itself to his arm, its needle-like proboscis piercing his skin with surprising ease.
The sorcerer feels the sting of the proboscis as it begins to draw blood, a sensation that is more disconcerting than debilitating. Aware of the minor but persistent threat, the sorcerer grimaces, the minor pain a distraction from the concentration required to cast spells.

The second stirge finds purchase on Durnan's shoulder, similarly embedding its proboscis and starting its own gruesome feast.
The pain and shock of the sudden attack momentarily distract Durnan, his attention diverted from the troll to the immediate threat clinging to his body. The stirges' Blood Drain not only causes physical harm but also saps Durnan's strength, the loss of blood threatening to weaken him during this critical moment of the battle.

The sorcerer feels the sting of the proboscis as it begins to draw blood, a sensation that is more disconcerting than debilitating. Aware of the minor but persistent threat, the sorcerer grimaces, the minor pain a distraction from the concentration required to cast spells.

Troll Turn
The troll, momentarily staggered by the concerted attacks and the significant wound inflicted by Durnan's enchanted weapon, Grimvault, pauses in its assault. The adventurers watch in dismay and frustration as the flesh around its injuries knits together, the gashes and burns healing at an unnatural pace. The troll's regeneration is not just a physical recuperation; it serves as a psychological blow to the combatants, a stark reminder of the uphill battle they face in subduing such a creature.
With a roar that echoes through the tavern, the troll lunges at Durnan with a ferocity borne of both rage and desperation. Its massive claws, sharp and deadly, swipe through the air with terrifying speed. Durnan, battle-hardened and quick on his feet, attempts to dodge the incoming assault, but the troll's reach and the sheer swiftness of the attack give him little room to maneuver.
The troll's claws rake across the legendary barkeeper's armor, tearing through the material with alarming ease. The force of the slash sends Durnan staggering back, a grimace of pain etched on his face as he feels the claws cut into him.
