Silver is considered a holy and pure metal, hence why a vampire's reflection won't show in a silvered-mirror. It abhors the presence of evil beneath the light of God.

But personally I'll be advocating for a stake through the heart, burying the vampire face down at a crossroads, throwing grains about, and hiding it's left sock.
