@Ben - How quickly can I create a zipline using my crossbow, a bolt and the rope in my inventory to go get that friggin key? :link
Frigging artificers, wanting to invent their way out of everything!

I mean I guess you could, but it'll take a short rest then require some rolls to pull it off.

More importantly, how far can I throw one of the small lads?

And what if Short turned into a small rodent or something?
If Short was a rat you could definitely throw them a good distance, but returning might be tough, unless you manage to yo-yo the druid.

Or like... Maybe... Perhaps... Possibly...

Ask the fucking flying kobolds to help you retrieve the key.

I have 50ft of rope in my backpack. I could turn Short Rat into a Short Bola and attempt to yeet him over the chasm. :link

... well sadly there's no yeeting if you actually think about it. He can walk over, grab the thing, and then I tug him over. Or something along that lines.

Tch... fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine....

I'll do it the easy way....
Heh, you can try whatever you like. It just hit me very much like one of those Viva La Dirt League skits... Artificer trying to invent a zipline, barbarian trying to throw someone across the gap, while there's a flying dude friendly to you flapping in the background.

I love how the things I'm proficient and supposed to be good in result in the most god awful RNG rolls...

It's really hard to RP when I only seem to pass non-sensical checks, but the stuff I'm supposed to be proficient in I fail miserably. It's now borked my character on several instances.

Eh, that's what proficiency is for. You are good at Arcana. You get a +6 to everything, so generally have to roll lower than a 9 to fail something. However, nat-1s are another thing entirely.

But I'm still trying to avoid straight up making you trip and put the book up your ass or something on a crit-1. You just have absolutely no idea what that means.
