Campaign Stormwreck Isle: Spores of Seagrow Cave (1-2)

THE QUEST:
  • At the behest of Tarak, travel to Seagrow Caves to get past the guardian at the entrance, see what's wrong with the Myconid, and recover a harvest of heart cap mushrooms for him.

((@Ben - this is a good time to ask this too, but I plan to use a healing spell next turn. Which, I do not believe I can use Bardic Inspiration on. If I cannot, can I add that to this attack?))
((By the rules, bardic inspiration is to be used for ability checks, attack rolls or saving throws. It doesn't add to the damage or effect of a spell, so right it wouldn't have any use on a spell.

And sure, you can roll to use your inspiration on that last one. ))

Managing to nick the drake, a realization sets in on Zesty. Something needs to turn the tides in this fight, or none of the adventurers would survive. As Zesty coils back from swinging with his dagger, he catches sight of Nac taking another hit from the drake. Zesty knows what he must do.

Zesty runs behind Nac, sheathing his dagger on the way. As he comes up behind the dwarf, he drops his hammer onto the sand. He lays his hand on Nac's shoulder.

Zesty moves to Nac and sheaths his dagger on the way. He drops his hammer. He casts Cure Wounds.

(So good time for a vibe check, how are you guys feeling with my trying the more graphic driven narrative? It doesn't give me as much time to just write a chunk of story, but I've been trying to work on character consistency. It's mainly just funny to make images of Moonsprout trippin'. Oh yeah... Speaking of))
((Needless to say I'm loving it. The written flavor text is fantastic, the images are amazing. It's all good. One thing I wish is that my character was a bit more grubby and a little less twink, but I'm okay with it.))

((I mean, he just gave us the opportunity to get some extra attacks in. Why wouldn't he have the drake take an opportune bite out of you since you're running over to Nac? :shrug

Also as far as I know, you don't got to put away or drop your things to do the spell. Like, maybe you dont use your hands for cure wounds, but rub your rump against the person you're headling. :D ))

Zesty moves away from the group in the water, with Fume Drake A taking the opportunity to lash out with a whip-like tail. The sharp tip cracks next to the Tiefling's face, but does not connect.



You run behind Nac and force your healing magic into his back side. He's overcome with vigor.

Your fists of fury do not enter the dragon in this game of death, missing by inches, but your kick like a combat trained mule does, sending the drake coiling in on itself.

((I keep forgetting I'm supposed to be using the D&D Beyond map, and honestly that'd be less work for me as the game-screen-esque stuff takes a lot of work.. Plus this way you can interact a little more and move yourself around, but within the limits of your character and the environment, until your next turn.

I'll still try to get a kind of HUD up that I can keep updated and will look cool, but it might take a minute.))

Nac sees the drake begin to wobble after the last kick connected, sensing that it does not have too long left. As it sways in front of him Nac grabs hold of the drake's head and says Ye should've stayed in the kiddie pool, lad as he snaps the drake's neck.

((Nat20 on the hit dice equals a crit I believe, too. I think it means that you roll an extra damage dice, but I'm not sure how it works in DnD. Good to see that someone can roll.. :link ))

((I did it only to be able to switch to my crossbow next turn and be able to use it. With one battle I started at range and another at melee, I'm thinking my guy is better served as ranged support for now. Cure Wounds is sadly not the spell Alu has to heal at range, but I think from here on in, provided I survive, I'll use my crossbow mainly.))

((I hope I didn't come off as meaning anything bad towards you! That was most certainly not my intention! Sorry if that was the case! My meaning was that if you both had been within 5 ft of the drakes, anpther attack would have been better so as not to risk hurting you! :worship ))

((No offense at all! Wasn't even a thought in my head. I probably don't survive splash damage, so my actions are the right ones for now, I believe.))

((The spell slots are there to be used. :D It gets better once you get levels as you get more slots. Early game is a bit of a rut.

But mainly blasting cantrips first and hitting spells when there's a good opportunity to make them work well is the key for longevity. But not necessarily fun. ))

You quickly crouch and dip your fingertip into the wet sand ((as I just read your components for this and it takes a drop of water, but... You're on a beach)).

Fume Drake B manages to float back towards Aims and attempts to snap at him, but the crusting of frost makes it less than nimble, and it's strike does not land. As it recoils the remnants of ice fall away and it doesn't look impaired anymore.
