Fume Drake C spirals up through the air and stops in front of the group, focusing towards the shorter members. It opens it's mouth wide, sending a torrent of scalding hot steam billowing towards Nac and Short Order, though it stops just short of hitting the gnome.

The words Moonsprout muttered during his episode ring in your head.

...Get your game on, go play...

You're overcome with the inspiring feeling that you're an All Star, You push against the sand with your toes just as the billowing plume of steam engulfs you, and leap over the intense heat of the attack.

nacjump.png

The wave of steam rushes past Short Order, but the forceful blast of heat dissipates before colliding with the druid.

Zesty Zapcrackle

Diplomatic Immunity
((I'd like to start by saying/asking, because I have no idea how it works other than it's a reaction, but can I use Absorb Elements, if I'm hit with an elemental attack from one of these things?))

Zesty, having a choice to make, quickly scans the battlefield. He fears for Aims'Orreh, who is surrounded by two of these ethereal drakes. After watching Nac nimbly dodge an attack, Zesty decides that Nac and Short Order can try to deal with the singular elemental. Zesty rushes to Aims'Orreh's side, and just within range of the Drake (A), attempting to avoid the depths as best as possible.

Remember, the center of this pool is deeper than it appears!

With that, Zesty thrusts his dagger towards the creature, followed by his hammer!

Zesty attempts to attack Drake A with his dagger, and, using his bonus action, follow up hit with his hammer.

{{Your 30 feet of movement speed isn't enough to get you right next to Fume Drake A. Your 6 blocks of movement run out here.

You avoid the drake rushing towards you and patter through the shallow water next to Aims'Orreh, being careful not to step in too deep. You raise your dagger and stab towards the vaporous body of Fume Drake B, the blade connecting and lodging between a shimmering scale. Feeling resistance pulling your blade back, you swing up your hammer and smash down on the hilt of the dagger, twisting it free. The Fume Drake hisses and spirals with loathing.

zesty.png

You deal 5 damage to Fume Drake B.

fumedrake2.png
Fume Drake A twists in circles and arcs around Aims'Orreh, to float on the opposite side next to Zesty. It dips through the water briefly, then erupts like a geyser and latches onto Zesty's thigh with it's teeth before being shaken off.

Zesty takes 6 points of damage from Fume Drake A.

((Oh and @Jon, Absorb Elements does work as a reaction in that if you're hit with an elemental type of damage, you can cast that spell immediately. It doesn't prevent any of the damage you take, but on your next melee attack you can add a 1d6 of the absorbed element to your attack.

Also @Jon do you want your character to have horns? Pretty sure you were going with no in the creation thread, but your description on the character sheet states yes. So my training the AI keeps getting confused on which way to go. From my perspective, horns are easier for it to do. It has trouble with non-horny Tieflings.))

Aims is surprised at how agile the drake is as it easily escaped from in front of it. Worse yet, it ignored him and dug right into Zesty who came over to fight next to him.

Argh, you damned little eel, stay right here where you are! How dare you try to ignore me!

PheeeeEW! Tha's sum nasty breath ye got! When's the last time ye cleaned yer teeth?!

Nac moves up the beach a bit to stand next to Fume Drake C, remaining standind on the sand for somewhat better footing.

Seeing no nipples to twist and no real idea where the groin area of a drake can be found, Nac opts for a uppercut to the jaw and a punch to the throat as a follow up with the bonus attack.

((Just to clarify on something I went over in my head here; It didn't provoke an attack of opportunity because it didn't leave your melee range. It just skirted around you, but didn't move in/out of attack range.))

You step to the Drake, doing your best shoryuken at it's face. Your fists connects, but your knuckles glance off the shimmering scales and barely do damage. Your second strike towards the throat of the monster misses entirely.

1706395787520.png

You deal 4 damage to Fume Drake C.

((BTW @Ben , are these things awfully large and/or heavy? I'm considering possibly doing some strength based shenanigans with at least one of them, but I'm not sure if they're too big for that.))

Your mind floods with sub-zero thoughts. You point your finger like a stubby snowman's nose and a large icicle forms out of the air in mid-flight.

DALL·E 2024-01-27 19.25.13 - Redraw the D&D rock gnome druid named Short Order in a web-comic ...png

The icicle careens towards the Fume Drake and impales it directly behind the temple.

You deal 9 points of damage to Fume Drake C.

1706407116083.png

It writhes and hisses like a kettle coming to heat, but before it can attempt to dislodge the shard it explodes into a dozen large chunks. The frozen shrapnel smashes across the Fume Drake, with a large ice-cube ricocheting off directly towards Nac. The Fume Drake looks noticeably weaker and is having a hard time flying.

You attempt to dodge the ice cube.

1706406800242.png
((Sorry for rolling for you, Nae, but I figure you're already aslumberin'))

You do not dodge the ice cube.

plink.png

Fume Drake C takes 4 point of damage from the Ice Knife explosion.
Nac takes 4 point of damage from the Ice Knife explosion.

((@Ben - couple things - The picture is indicating Nae and my damage, but your little table at the end still shows us full HP. Not a big deal but thought I'd point it out.

Also, I'm wondering if I can do all this on my next turn... I THINK I can. Can I move, sheath dagger, drop hammer and cast a spell?

As I understand our past discussions, I can sheath a single weapon as part of moving, but I cannot sheath both because I don't have dual wield. So if I can sheath one, drop the other and then cast a spell, I should then be able to draw my crossbow next turn, is my thought.))

((You're right, forgot I had the health in that table.

If you sheathe from one hand as part of movement, drop what's in the other as a free interaction, and cast with your main action, then yes next round you'd be able to draw your crossbow as part of that movement.))

Aims has had it. The stupid eels thought they were hot shots and everything, but no more. The half-orc is pissed.

Y'all think you're tough, eh? Y'all think you can do whatever you want, huh? WELL NO MORE!! YOU'RE DEALING WITH ME NOW! ARRRGHHHH!!

Aims goes into a fit of RAGE, visibly starting to look like he's on fire thanks to the radiant red aura around him.

AND YOU COME BACK HERE AND FINISH GETTING SLICED UP INTO SASHIMI!

Aims grabs his ax also enveloped in the same red tinge as he is. This time he bringing it deep over his shoulder, and with another heavy step brings it down overhead in an attempt to carve right through Drake A.

Moonsprout is getting worried. A deep fear and paranoia is setting into him. Imagine how terrified he would be if he had a true conscious awareness of the ethereal beasts swirling around in the pool in front of him.

((You mention the magical pool can heal damage... Would that take up a turn, and does it happen instantly, or upon resting?))

Fury at these worms fills your veins. You've stood shoulder to shoulder with the finest soldiers and have had to bury just as many, a measly elemental at but the start of your great adventure wouldn't stop you. Your might will wipe them from existence.

Moonsprout is laying on his back now, twirling his finger in the sky, watching sparks and light beams and wisps of smoke and glittering magical essence fly out of his fingertips and engage in some sort of cosmic dance with Fume Drake C.

Moonsprout uses Prestidigitation to cast a dazzling and distracting display of light towards Fume Dragon C

Wow, have you ever really like... looked at your hands before, man? he means to say as a display of sparks erupts from them, but he's still frothing at the mouth and delirious, so instead it comes out like "ZZZZzzzZESS ZESS zzzZzzzzZESSS! ZES!"
