Campaign Stormwreck Isle; Sacrifices Must Be Made (1-5)

Diplomatic Immunity
The pain from the electricity surge through his body still wringing out, Zesty decides to gather himself and scan the battlefield. The two Legionaries seem to be the most injured, but offer the most defense with their shields. Adeptus and Venator seem to be more magically inclined. The tiefling thinks this likely leaves them less shielded and more dangerous from a range. But both are fairly healthy. The other three blue kobolds are healthy but also seem to be more surrounded by foes.

Not many good options here... the artificer thinks to himself.

In the end, Zesty decides to try to thin the herd a little. He runs 25 feet east and 5 feet north and raises his Lockbuster taking aim at the Adeptus and looses magical bullet.

He turns to Boltzmann.


The shielded one, Boltz! Try to take him down!

The mechanical wolf acknowledges and steps to the side of Legionary 2 and tries to take a Force-Empowered Rend out of it.

Round 2 Turn 21/22 - Zesty moves away from the enemies, forgetting about attack of opportunity ((even though I keep getting to use them...))

Legionary 1 slashes out with it's gladius and nicks Zesty in the shoulder.

Zesty takes 4 points of slashing damage.

Further moving East, he leaves Adeptus' range too, which attempts to make another Shocking Grasp attack against Zesty but misses it's grab for a limb.

Zesty finally makes it to his target position near the tree and turns, shooting towards the Adeptus quickly. The round goes between the magical kobold's legs and hits the dirt behind.

Boltzmann also leaves the Veles range, and it thrusts its pilum towards the mechanical pupper. It stabs the metal tip into a port on Boltzmann's side and bends the pins, which will be annoying.

Boltzmann takes 4 points of damage.

The metal dog lunges at Kobold Legionary 2 and grabs it by the leg, pulling the kobold to the ground and rending a chunk of flesh from it's calf. The Legionary screams in pain, but quickly fades and dies from blood loss.

Boltzmann deals 10 points of damage to Legionary 2

Legionary 2 dies.

Round 2 Turn 23 - The kobold Artifex attempts to hit Nac with his chain hook, but the swung weapon misses the dwarf.

It then signals again, and activates a 15ft square, 10 ft deep spike-pit trap beneath the two adventurers nearby

He moves toward the spike pit across from Nac, and fires off another beam of eldritch energy at Artifex along the way.

With a mean glare, which no one actually sees due to the sash tied over his eyes, Nac takes a step so he stands south of Signifer and attempts to shove him into the pit trap

Moonsprout watches as Venator dashes away from the chaos. Deep down he knows there is good in Venator, just as there is good somewhere deep, deep down inside the orc.


Wait! he cries out to the fleeing kobold, but it's too late. Eager to turn the directionless and confused Venator toward a path of righteousness, Moonsprout sets off after him.

I'd say if you're trying to move into that space again to get it, you'd need another DEX save to see whether you take damage.

Quickly gauging the situation, Aims figured he's in a slight pickle after being caught up standing in a trap again. To make things worse, he fumbled up making a sick attack on a kobold and somehow lost his weapon. No matter. A couple unexpected adverse situations aren't anything new to the veteran soldier. Looking to his left, he sees a pair of kobolds behind the wall of flames. A sly grin appears on his way and he darts towards the two, trailing the side of the flames. His eyes lock onto Legionary 1, and before he has time to think what is happening, the barbarian latches the poor kobold around his neck and goes to brutally running bulldog its head into the ground.

And to make things worse, if the poor sap survives it, the half-dragon, half-hungry-barbarian goes into finish him off with a well aimed chomp on the head. Unless it's dead, then Adeptus next door is a suitable target.

((I mentioned "a second chomp" as an alternative target in case the first kobold dies. There's only one chomp. If Leg1 is alive after the running bulldog, eat it. If Leg1 is dead after the running bulldog, eat Adeptus.))

((I think he's asking why you get the bite at all. Or at least that's how I read it. It's an action, which you would take as an unarmed attack on the Legionnaire, no? Do you have something that gives you 2 actions?))

((Right, the eating is not a bonus action you get to do anyway, that I see. You can bite one, and if you're below half-health you regain HP equal to your proficiency. For a killing blow I'd let you flavor it, but you don't innately get to eat a dude and not more than 1 dude at the same time, even if your bite kills the first (as these aren't minions)))

((Ahhh, okay. I got my mind confused with the claws and being able to effectively dual-wield the claws and get extra attacks. I just fumbled that up with being able to do a regular attack and then still use my rage-given attack which is bite in this case.

So in the end, I can still only do one attack, barring special circumstances, which there is none right now.

Uhhh... Aims will still go after Leg1. Do I roll again to sort out this mix-up or will we cobble together those rolls for just one bite?))

Round 3 Turn 19 - As Horse Order stomps around failing to hit anything, his mounted mate sees an opportunity.

Kutshort throws his body to the side, falling sideways off the horse, but tightens his wooden legs around the beast's belly. With a pendulous action, the half-elf swings beneath the mount and strikes at the kobold Adeptus with both weapons. The first strike hits the Kobold in the stomach, slicing through its robes and spilling a gush of dark blood onto the grass.

Kobold Adeptus takes 5 points of slashing damage.

The Adeptus begins to mutter an incantation and raises its clawed hand up towards the horse, aiming to blast its dick from close range. As a fiery light begins to grow in its fist, Kutshort swings back in the opposite direction and plunges his offhand sword directly into the throat of the Adeptus, cutting short the spell. The glowing embers in its palm dissipate as the life fades from the kobold's eyes.

Kobold Adeptus takes 10 points of damage

Kobold Adeptus dies.

((@Ben - I'm going to assume I can do something like this based on how the spell is worded. If not, let me know and I'll re-write my attack))

With the battle raging on, Zesty begins running numbers on the remaining threats. His assessment is that Veles is a threat to his new companion, Magni. With no hesitation, the artificer moves north 5 feet and picks up a small nearby stone in his free left hand.

I learned this one from this weird knight standing on a castle telling a group of adventurers that their mother was a hamster and their father smelled of elderberries!

Zesty begins a brief Elvish incantation and casts Catapult on the stone in his hand and the stone rockets off west towards Veles with frightening velocity.

Meanwhile, Boltzmann rushes forward to finish off the blue kobold, or what remains of it.


((If the spell kills the kobold, his Boltz just run between Aims and KutshortOrder. Otherwise, he'll go next to Veles and Force-Empowered Rend it.))

Round 3 Turn 21/22 - The Elvish incantation Zesty utters sounds like it ends with "yeet", and the rock hurtles out of his hand towards the Kobold Veles.

The kobold warrior turns its head slightly and the rock grazes past its right ear.

Veles dodges the rock.

The rock then continues on until it skitters to a halt at the bottom of a tree.

While the Veles watches the rock fly off into the treeline, it begins laughing and points a mocking finger towards the Tiefling. It does not notice the robotic canine moving up on its left, obscured by the kobold's large shield, until the mechanical jaws are clamping down on its wrist.

With a crunch, Boltzmann shatters the Veles forearm and rips a large chunk of scaled flesh free. The kobold screams and recoils, barely clinging to life.

Boltzmann deals 9 points of force damage to Kobold Veles.

Round 3 Turn 23 - The Artifex narrows its eyes and does its own quick evaluation of the battle. Sensing the tide is not turning in their favor, the Artifex makes one more commanding gesture, and a buried canister of bees erupts from the ground next to Aims, Kutshort and Horse Order. The agitated insects swarm around the party.

The Artifex then turns to look across the spike pit and winds up its chain-hook. The commanding kobold hurls the hook across the pit and it pierces deep into Magni's shoulder, sending a surge of pain through the little warlock.

((Waiting on Magni's saving throw before moving on, though it'll be Magni's turn after.

FYI, for the bee trap, it doesn't do anything immediately, but if someone starts their turn in the area, or enters the area, it'll need a CON saving throw.
