Yeah, I hate how inflated the cost of the spotlight variants are :(

You'd think with Pokémon Pocket or w/e out now, stealing their players and content creators, they'd want to build more goodwill with the player base...

I did assume the same, mainly because I don't really ever try for it. I just get the shop variant and leave it alone, because I don't enjoy Conquest. But I had three Infinity tickets and had a good run with a Misery deck that also had Cassandra and Darkhawk in it (Hood, Kong, Rockslide, Black Widow, Grandmaster, Shadow King, but with Phoenix in there too). The deck will be in the alliance chat because I won several 8 cube games with it. I had three very close games against a range of inventive decks, but then my last two were against Arishem, and I need to get very unlucky to lose with that deck against Arishem in Conquest. I went in with an 8 cuber and had copied Cassandra to the middle with Nico, Darkhawk was on the right, and then I had my last Cassandra to play left. The only thing that would have stopped me is a Shang/Absorbing Man/Shadow King combination, but he just had the Shang and must have forgotten about the second Cassandra. And that was that.

Oh that's beautiful.

Yeah i kinda look at the mode the same way but I only go for the shop variant if I really want it.

I got one match away one time and then ran right into a hard counter for the deck I was running so I figure if it's meant to be, it'll happen one day.

I doubt Gorgon will get significant play. There are some new cards that will generate cards in your hand, so I expect Gorgon will get play while that archetype is meta, but not after that. It doesn't have the synergies that Cassandra Nova has, so can't see it sticking around after the hand generation archetype falls away.

Some interesting looking new cards. But the actual spotlight caches look poor for the most part. It's really difficult to commit four keys for a new card when I don't want or need any of the others. My initial instinct is to skip the whole month of December, even though there are at least a couple of cards that could be interesting.

I did a stupid and spent 3 keys this week to get Malekith just because he's the silly kind of card I like and I just got done reading Walt Simonson's run on Thor so this month's cards feel a lot more appealing to me at the moment.

Next week has one of the best cards we've seen in a while and now I gotta grind keys...

figure Gorgon would go well with black widow or rockslide decks

I didn't think about that either, and one of my favourite decks at the moment is the deck I got got an Infinite Border with last season, which does often struggle to give me a two drop that I want to play on curve before I spam Black Widow with Misery, Grandmaster and Phoenix. Gorgon may well fit right in there. If I pull for it. Which I probably won't. I think the December cards are a bit underwhelming but the January ones look much better.

I feel like I should have him because he's clearly decent in a couple of different decks. And yet, these spotlight weeks being so bad makes me pause. Probably should get him anyway.

@shortkut I've been against him in two main decks; War Machine lockdown (with Zabu, Psylocke, War Machine, Storm, Infinaut, Iron Lad, Maw etc, try to get him out on 3 ideally) and Zoo (again, Zabu and Psylocke, but with Doom, Skull, Blue Marvel, Magik, then sometimes Odin, Spectrum, Onslaught).

Have to admit that even after the nerf, I'm having good success on the Infinite Ladder with Thanos Arishem. No one is carrying Arishem counters anymore or playing those sorts of decks, so I don't have to deal with random Cassandras or Darkhawks. Surprisingly decent win rate as a result.

I’m still using Arishem and having decent success with him too
