ATTENTION THE GREAT AVENGER HAS SOMETHING TO SAY

Congrats. Avenger has only won in infinite conquest once and has been destroyed ever since.
THE GREAT AVENGER HAS SPOKEN :smash 🤨
My first time. Usually I just play conquest for the premium variant rewards, sometimes to get the conquest variant

I don't want to play devil's advocate, particularly for you guys who are still playing and enjoying the game, but is Nightmare as fun and exciting as everyone seems to think? I've seen great videos from Regis and Alex where Nightmare does stupid things, such as turning Typhoid Mary into a Sentry for turn 4 and then Red Skull into an Annihilus for turn 5, or turning Giganto into Galactus. Those are amazing moments, but surely once the novelty wears off it's pretty bad for the game when you cannot possibly predict what your opponent has, save that you know they'll have high power cards with a chance of game breaking effects? Maybe I'm being overly pessimistic. But I would have thought that a game like this needs some degree of predictability for the meta to work, and Nightmare just throws that out of the window.

I’m not going out of my way to get him. When Merlin enters the card acquisition packs, I will pull for him and if I get anyone else, cool. I might slot him into a random Arishem/lockjaw deck for maximum randomness

My first deck was a take on Sauron with Nightmare thrown in. Haven't spent much time tinkering yet.
From what I've seen you do need the Sauron as a backup if you don't draw Nightmare. Otherwise you're stuck with powerful cards that have big downsides. It's basically a classic Sauron/Shuri/Red Skull/Taskmaster build but with Nightmare and Infinaut instead of Shuri and Taskmaster. Your other option is to give it a War Machine flavour with Storm, and then you can also incorporate Giganto as well as Maw etc. You can straddle those two builds a bit.

That’s more strategy and less random bullshit

This is a really detailed, measured response to the state of the game from Regis. As the creator with the highest number of followers and views, and the largest reach, it feels significant to get a video like this from him. I have watched his videos more after stopping playing the game than I did when I played it because he is more entertaining than anything, but this video shows that he is an intelligent, thoughtful guy. You've had the knee jerk reaction to the latest mode from the other creators, but he's the first one to properly break this down. I doubt the game will die, but I think quite a few people will do what Vash is doing in response to these latest changes.

For what it's worth, I was going to stop playing anyway, but I didn't think for one second that the changes to spotlight caches would signal a broader change and greater respect for the player base. So I can't say that this surprises me at all.

EDIT:

Jeff Hoogland has directly responded, and plays Regis' video on 1.5x and comments on it as he goes. Again, thoughtful comments, adds to some things, disagrees with some things. I respect both of these guys, and if you haven't seen either I'd watch Jeff's, and then you can see both. If you're minded to watch either, of course.
