That was fast - Jerod Mayo is the new head coach of the Patriots. It makes sense, two years ago they refused to let him interview with other teams and publicly announced that he would stay on as assistant coach/LB coach.

Dunno how to feel. He's 37 and they love him internally... we'll see...

They had it lined up with the league, I was just listening to the radio and the only way they could avoid interviews and the Rooney rule is if they had a succession plan in place legally.

I love Mayo... I hate this hiring. Not only are you putting him in a position to replace the greatest coach of all time, but you're asking him to do it before you've even washed the bedsheets when your ex left the house.

I think this is going to be a BAD decision. Hiring a coach before a GM has NEVER worked out.

Hiring Mayo this quickly isn't good. For him, the new GM or the organization.

Typically, you want the GM to have a say in hiring the coach. Much for the reasons I said above as to why you can't keep Belichick on as coach but not GM. Doing it this way is telling Mayo he is either going to have a say in hiring the new GM (HIGHLY unlikely) or he's a lemming and needs to fall in line with whatever the GM tell him the vision is (which will cause the players to have no respect for him).

Either way, the situation remains to be seen, but I don't like this hiring or timing. They didn't even remotely consider someone outside the organization, and that's a problem.

So much for you guys wanting someone with experience, lol.

I was on the Dolphins because I felt like the Chiefs' receivers would keep them from winning, but the negative temps and wind chill is going to force most of the game to be on the ground, and I feel the Chiefs have the advantage there.

Bills-Steelers game moved to Monday by the New York. Supposedly, 50+ people died the last time there was a massive snowstorm and having first responders camping out at a football game was probably not the best of idea.

Some fucking clown radio personality claimed that "sources" told him that the game would be moved to Cleveland. New York pushing the game back to Monday nullifies that obvious BS claim.

I mean, I would say that the Chargers are probably the most coveted spot for coaching and that either Belichick or Harbaugh go there (likely Harbaugh). I would say the Raiders are the second most coveted landing spot and Belichick likely won't go there. Why NOT take a shot with Pierce at this point?

I hear you. And it's not wrong. But at the same time, he brought them back and they were in the hunt till late because of it. If they learned nothing from Wilks and Carolina, it's that!

Well, the one thing they can do is still do interviews. Because it gives the illusion of choice. Especially if they interview both Belichick and Harbaugh and choose Pierce? Gives him some validity.

In terms of Crosby, he's under contract, there isn't much he can rightfully demand, so you let him if you're the Raiders. He plays a premium position and is due for a HUGE payday soon. He can't afford to sit out.

That said, Crosby was my defensive cornerstone pick in my IDP dynasty league. Bitch play... you were the only bright spot on my 1-13 team!

I mean, I lucked out a bit. I tanked about 4 games in when I had a lot of injuries. I am in a good spot depending on Free Agency. 1st overall pick is getting me Marvin Harrison Jr. which is great, especially if he goes to Arizona. But I also have the 10th and 16th overall picks (16 team league).

My WR are gonna be good. And my defense is pretty solid. I just need to find a couple RBs which is easier said than done.
