Don't underestimate the shittiness that was Matt Rhule and Frank Reich. Yes, Tepper sucks, but his coaching decisions are a huge issue.panthers owner david tepper:
don't get me wrong, i'm glad reich is gone. but this team is 30-63 since tepper bought the team with six straight losing seasons to show for it. we have had as many non-interim head coaches (rhule and reich) in the last four years than we did from 2002-2019 (john fox and ron rivera). tepper can performatively say curse words in front of reporters all he wants. the blame for this franchise going from nfc championship to laughingstock in less than a decade is squarely on his shoulders
Panthers owner David Tepper announced the news on Monday morning, a day after Carolina's loss to the Tennessee Titans plunged their record to 1-10. "I met with Coach Reich this morning and informed him that he will not continue as head coach of the Carolina Panthers," Tepper said in a statement posted to social media. "I want to thank Frank for his dedication and service, and we wish him well."
Special teams coordinator Chris Tabor will serve as the team's interim head coach.
Reich was the team's third permanent head coach since Tepper bought the Panthers in 2018. They have also had two interim head coaches, Steve Wilks and Perry Fewell. Last October, Tepper fired Matt Rhule in the third year of a fully guaranteed seven-year $62m contract.
The Panthers selected Bryce Young with the No 1 overall pick in this year's draft but the quarterback has struggled badly under a coach with a reputation for nurturing offensive talent. Young has nine touchdowns to eight interceptions this season and is 29th out of 30 qualified starting quarterbacks in QBR rating. The Panthers traded their first-round pick in next year's draft to move up and acquire Young, meaning the Chicago Bears own Carolina's selection for 2024.
And it ain't just the Panthers; he also has a penchant for meddling with the coaching staff of Charlotte FC (fired the team's first coach Miguel Ramirez mid-2022, fired Christian Lattanzio at the end of 2023 despite the team making the MLS Cup playoffs).Yes, Tepper sucks, but his coaching decisions are a huge issue.
Was actually looking forward to this game. Expecting lots of sloppy football. So far not disappointed.
Cue it up...OMG, this MNF game is the greatest shitshow. Both offenses are totally inept. Dobbs has thrown 4 picks, maybe one of them was his fault. Not Fields just fumbled the ball near the red zone up 6 points giving the Vikings new life.
Edit: Please tell me someone else is watching this game. Vikings scored a TD, and then Fields fumbled the ball AGAIN on a run.
His next presser needs to start with "To continue in the search for excellence for the Carolina Panthers, I have decided to immediate sell the team."David Tepper defends his time as Carolina Panthers owner, introduces new coach

Well, it is in the technical sense of the word correct; he did defend his performance...by introducing everyone to the underside of the bus.One of the biggest things I hate about online reporting is clickbait titles.
I read the part about Tepper because the headline implied the opposite of what I heard - and sure enough, I see no "defending", he even outright says the performance has not been good.
True but put any rookie QB (C.J. Stroud, anyone?) behind the Panthers O-line and good luck to them...Bryce Young looks bad.
While that's true - the oline is still ranked 25th. Will Levis looks better than Young and that oline is ranked 31st.True but put any rookie QB (C.J. Stroud, anyone?) behind the Panthers O-line and good luck to them...
Twitter is the worst in that regard. That site has given "reporters" carte blanche to post whatever snitbit of information they receive, context or fact checking be damned. One of the biggest things I hate about online reporting is clickbait titles.
He's like Elon Musk and Twitter/X - he wanted the shiny new object (Reich) instead of staying with a proven coach (Wilks).i cannot understand why he didn’t stick with wilks.
Did you see the clip of Peppers telling a Giants player that they were lucky the Pats were bad? I'll try to find it.I hope none of you watched the Patriots chargers game. Outside of the Pats wearing throwbacks it was misery for everyone.
Which one?The AFC is a wild ass division where it feels like no one really wants to take it over.
ah, that makes a lot of sense. Yeah, this conference is nuts. I love the parity. The lack of Brady and Manning helps a lot. Chiefs proving that you really need a solid WR on your team.I meant conference - not division, sorry. lol
Yeah - the unpredictability of it week to week makes it enjoyable, agreed on the parity.ah, that makes a lot of sense. Yeah, this conference is nuts. I love the parity. The lack of Brady and Manning helps a lot. Chiefs proving that you really need a solid WR on your team.
Didn't we trade that pick to get Bryce Young this year?Well at least you'll get the #1...
He should just stay in college.Yes, the Bears are currently weighing if they want to ruin Caleb Williams' career.
I mean... I sure as fuck would if the Bears were my option. I don't know if he'll have the clout Eli Manning did to demand he wouldn't play for the Bears. He should just stay in college.
Yeah - the no DPI was rough on MVS.And then a missed DPI. This drive has been brutal - going in both directions.
That unnecessary roughing call on the Packers on that final drive was bullshit.
I'm honestly so tired of what the NFL has become.
Agreed on both counts; what the holy fuck are the refs doing out there? And then a missed DPI. This drive has been brutal - going in both directions.
Bill Belichick is even the GOAT of being bad.
He HAS also faced very bad weather and offensively inept teams in that time, if I recall. It's impressive, he's still showing his defensive accumen while tanking. Now I'm not sure if I want him to leave after the season.
If he would agree to give up GM duties and let someone bring in a wild new offensive coordinator and let him do whatever, it could be fun.
