Speaking from experience as the others here can attest to as I've purposely sat out many games. It's a feeling that comes and goes. But when you're playing - if you hit those HIGHs like pulling off a wacky jailbreak then killing the warden? That's a great fucking feeling and you can get those too playing this.

I'll still play, but the levels of fun I have are just not the same. Definitely lost the urge to update my game even.

That too is something that will change. It'll change in the game you reluctantly sign up for and then a bunch of insane things happen and it grabs you with it's claws telling you "you know you want more".

Really it's the peak and valley concept for game development that takes advantage of human psychology. Rather than having consistent high quality gameplay which costs more money you go the cheaper route. There's a lot of shit that just doesn't need to be there but you go through it and there's your big moment! Then you rinse and repeat.

It's pretty common in gaming nowadays and I'm pretty sure it applies here.

It was fully written out in the same way that tubby wrote out role descriptions, including a picture. Said it was "hidden role #2" and needed to be revealed at a certain time or he'd lose automatically. It was the greatest play we've seen in broad daylight.

5) Tommy literally creates a role that everyone believes and then on top of it lynch him for it and he wins as the fool

Y'all were so concerned with Torrential Downpour you didn't stop to think about the big fucking cloud hovering over your head.

That cloud is Tommy Boy and in my book, he's the best one in the game. You'll have a hard time outplaying him.

Do you know the difference between signing yourself up for something and being invited to do something?

So if you don't want wolf to die invite your friends to play this team game, kill eachother, try not to hurt feelings but it can happen by accident, have fun, and try to win or lose if you care.

Do most of you realize that last game was the second time Dean quit here?

Yeah, the first time he quit was my first game on the new boards and I was one of many calling the wolves dumb and he left for a long time.

Do you guys realize why he came back for a second run at wolf games? It's because people started pinging. It didn't work at first but eventually it did and Dean was back in the games.

Yet here we are talking about wolf being dead, a game of which is clearly a lot of fun for us most of the time, and y'all are just like "okay"?

Mmm, Nandos is great. Unfortunately, STL doesn't have one. They have a place that is kinda close in that it serves peri peri chicken, and has similar side dishes, but the place is so not up to par.

I don’t know if it was the roles or what, but your game didn’t seem to cause nearly the ripple effect that some of the others have. Same goes for @Tubby23 and his games. More often than not, I find myself on the side that agrees that certain roles play as the catalyst in those games that go off the rails on an emotional level… and both of y’all seemed to find a way to go off the rails without the same degree of tension.

I find myself agreeing with @Cole mostly, because even though I’ve never participated in a game, I feel as if I’ve avoided them for similar reasons. I can come here and engage with y’all in other ways, or I can come here and potentially have it out with one of y’all over logistics of a game and gameplay. It’s a disheartening position even as a non-player, because all you’d have to do to get a feel for how the games go is take a good look around.

However… I’m also on the side of @TD and the others that feel these games can be played without that level of frustration so long as everyone is on the same page. The problem with this is KEEPING everyone on the same page as life rolls on for everyone and this event or that event happens that changes someone’s mood or outlook.

I got pinged by shortkut, and honestly it's a little annoying that I keep having to say I'm not playing, so I posted again.

I miss playing, sometimes I get the itch, but it's just not worth it anymore. I can't play at any less than my full ability, which means I'll abuse every loophole, I'll read every post 6 times, I'll lie and manipulate with literally any evidence I have, snd I'll spend way too much time doing all of it.

and for the end result of that effort to be the shitstorm I get every single time? it's just not worth it. I have a lot less time now a days than I used to, and I'm not going to use that time on something that ends up with me getting anxious about relationships I genuinely care about. (see: the very public fight I had with Alu, he and I are fine, but I don't want that fucking anxiety, I'm not going to lose relationships over a fucking game of wolf.)

my point being, I don't see myself playing again.

there is no "perfect storm", might I some day decide to hop in, realize why I hadn't been playing in the first 24 hours and wish I hadn't joined? maybe. but it's not going to be from someone @ ing me into the thread, it's not going to be from people blowing smoke up my ass about my "skill" in this game. it's gonna be because I get bored enough to do it.

I'm glad the game is surviving, I still scan the threads (well really I search my name to see if anyone's mentioning me), and I'm proud when I see people refer to my strategies, or quote me, or mention me in whatever other way.

but I just can't devote my time to something that historically upsets people on this website.

I was playing chicken with the predators. To me I was pretty sure Tommy was the daddy long legs, but there was like a 5% uncertainty he was actually a predator.

I figured you guys would know of course with certainty, and even suggested one of you could give yourselves up to keep yourselves alive. Prey were in a bad spot, had lost our killing role and I believe no really good seer type, so felt like we were gonna lose anyways but you guys had a chance
