Multi Watcha playing?

Aside from Doom which I made a thread on, I've started Two Point Museum. I think it's the best in the series and a great game. I like how they've made fewer maps that you return to rather than just giving a new hospital/campus every time and more or less ignoring your previous efforts. You're really building these things up.

I started playing Call of Duty: Ghosts. This came out in 2013 and was actually one of the first two games I bought for my PS4. I am going back now for the platinum and DLC trophies.

There's a game mode called Extinction. It's sort of like an alternative take on Nazi Zombies. The premise is that there are alien hives on the map and you need to destroy them using a drill. You place the drill on a hive and then defend it for a few minutes, and so on until you destroy all of the hives on the map and escape. The base game had 1 map, and each of the 4 DLCs had an additional map. So far, I've only played the base game and 1 DLC, but I have to say that this is surprisingly fun. It's a much better solo experience than Zombies was, but it is at its most fun with a full team.

There are a lot of unlockables that can make it easier or harder, which I think is part of the fun. The other big advantage it has over Zombies is that Zombies had no endpoint, because you basically just keep playing to get a higher round. When I used to play with my friends, some games could take 3 hours, whereas this takes a little bit over an hour if you complete the map.

Surprisingly, there is still a very small but active community playing. I joined a PSN group chat for people trying to get the trophies, but I've had far more success just joining random matches online with people who are insanely good.

Balls deep into second act of Clair Obscur and is living up to the hype. Rarely does this happen. Beautiful, amazing soundtrack, fun gameplay, great characters and story, and in intriguing setting.

The dodge and parry system is great. Im pretty bad at it, some of it is probably because I am playing it in the morning, and then I only play in small spurts so its hard to get a good flow, but also Im just an impatient SOB and hit dodge so early even if I know I should wait. I dont even try to parry most times unless I know its only one or two attacks. The huge long multi attacks it is all or nothing and Im not hitting 5 parries in a row. Thankfully there is a picos that gives me AP everytime Im hit, works amazingly for crappy players like me

Also I love how breakable this is, Maelle is up there with the all time OP characters in videogames

I'm actually getting more damage from Sciel right now. Getting into twilight mode and her gradient attack to stack 30 foretell and then unleashing her multi attack consume attack just did 78000 and 495000 in consecutive rounds. Maelle is the easiest to do high damage consistently but Sciel stacked the right way is nuclear.

Im getting a little better with Sciel. I unlocked a move that spreads attack to burning enemies

How quickly can you get 30 foretell stacked? My issues is I kill most things too quickly, other than bosses.

Apparently Lune if I can get her crit to 100% can be crazy OP. Use Elemental Trick then Elemental Genesis next move

I'm currently getting about 2.5 million damage on Maelle and nowhere close with anyone else, but its definitely doable with the right builds. Seen videos where Sciel is hitting over a billion.

I am probably crippling my Maelle a little bit, I havent gotten the damage cap remover yet, but Im using the sword that starts me in Virtuous stance and I Know she has stronger ones, I know I can get there on her second turn, but to me that feels too long to wait.

I got that sword in Act 1 and have exclusively used it the rest of the game. It's the best unless you go for some crazy super endgame build IMO

Currently installing Helldivers 2. I've resisted the urge for as long as I could, now it's time to kill some bugs (and robots.)

Otherwise, I'm still working through Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Bludgeoning nazis all day.

I just can't keep myself focused on Fortnite even though I should be loving the Star Wars mini-season. I just don't have the focus in me to try and win matches half the time. 😮‍💨

I did start an Oblivion playthrough with a hand-to-hand only build, got myself pretty far into the Arena, but I hadn't even bothered starting the main quest by going to Weynon Priory yet. The wife's been playing it whenever she can, though, so I feel justified in having bought it.

Also I've more or less given up on Ark Survival Ascended. Evolved was one of my favorite games, so the prospect of that updated on Unreal Engine sounds great, but the studio are just so fucking shitty that I've already lost interest in their cash-grab bollocks. I'm not inclined to play it on a big multiplayer server with PVP, I just want to build bases and tame dinosaurs with the wife, but it feels they're just turning every single fucking thing into a DLC to try to offset the fact that they fiscally suck and needed to borrow $14,000,000 from the Nitrado server hosts just to stay in business.

I downloaded that as a free PS game but haven't tried it yet. It sounds like you'd recommend giving it a miss?

I noticed they had it as a monthly game on PS Plus, after having had it at least 50% off before hand.

I'm so torn. The original (Evolved), which this one (Ascended) is just a remake of, is honestly one of my favorite games of all time, despite it being buggy as shit.

But after the studio released the final DLC for Evolved, they realized they had no way to generate revenue while they continued to work on Ark 2, which was supposed to have Vin Diesel as a character and all this other lofty bullshit. So they opted to come out with Ascended as "early access" to get around how buggy and poor performance it was. But rather than actually work on fixing it to make the game solidly playable, they just keep releasing more DLC and have shifted towards addon/micro-transactions as a way to try to milk more cash from the player base. Plus the whole $14 mil loan from the company that hosted all their servers means that company now has a monopoly on hosting, and unless you're running your own dedicate box.

I think it's also in a place where the single-player mode runs like ass, almost intentionally in a way to force people to play on a server (driving money to Nitrado.) Ascended does have cross-platform play, which is a nice difference to Evolved, because I could play on my PC while the wife played on the PS5 and we didn't have to do split-screen, but... I don't really feel like playing $2/day for a server just to play with her and I.

EDIT: Oh, I believe they also shut down all of the original Evolved servers to force people to purchase Ascended and further milk cash from them.

When I decided to give it another try and rented a server for a while, I was legit going to try to pitch to GWF and get people playing to build up a tribe, but after realizing the performance problems and how seemingly predatory the studio's practices were, I couldn't bring myself to try to rope people into it.

It's devastating, because it's the best survival/builder/tamer I've played so far.

Honestly though, it's kind of what Palworld based itself off of (aside from Pokemon), so... Maybe I should just give Palworld a try. Not gonna scratch that dinosaur itch, but maybe it'll give the survival/base building I'm looking for.

The only quest I completed was the Gray Prince one, but that's technically just Arena fluff, so... :shrug

The three Argonians at once was bloody difficult not using any weapons, though. I had to make use of the Red Guard adrenaline rush, and a fuckload of potions.

I'm finding that hand-to-hand sucks more than in the original since they seem to have taken out the ability to knock out enemies when you drain their fatigue entirely. I thought I'd be making people take constant dirt naps, but no. So I might just reroll and start over with something else.

Anyway, played a bit of Helldivers 2 and I'm enjoying it, though I'm sure it'd be more fun with other people. I didn't manage to make it out of the mission I was in due to getting swarmed, although I did still complete it. Seems like it's one of those "chip away at things while being shit, until you unlock better gear" kinda games.

FWIW, having tried both version I'm honestly enjoying Helldivers 2 more on PS5. Not only does it run well, but the adaptive triggers just make the guns feel more chunky. I'm a big fan of games that make good use of the adaptive triggers.

Do adaptive triggers work on PC still if you use the PS5 controller on it, playing a game like HD2 which was natively for it? Or are the triggers only reserved for console?

I've never noticed them work the few times I've connected my controller to the PC. I don't remember if there were official drivers/software from Sony to get the controllers working better, but I'm sure none of the games are configured to use them.

Well, I consider myself corrected.

Apparently most only work when the controller is connected via wire, not over bluetooth, but most games that have a PS5 version do actually support haptic feedback/adaptive triggers on PC. Helldivers 2 is among them.
