((When is Hopper’s turn and what is his move set?))
(( Ugh I rolled his initiative last night and didn't type it in my list apparently...he goes after the Goblins but before Dude ))

As the battle commences, Kutshort quickly takes stock of the situation unfolding in the dimly lit chamber. Amidst the chaos and the rallying goblins, his gaze lands on the figure held captive by the goblins. A wave of recognition washes over him as he realizes the prisoner is none other than Sildar Hallwinter. Understanding the gravity of Sildar's capture, Kutshort knows that the stakes of this encounter have risen significantly.

With the goblins' attention firmly fixated on T'anks, who stands boldly in front of Kutshort, the Rogue quickly realizes that his usual approach of relying on stealth to maneuver around his enemies has become significantly more challenging. The goblins, spurred by T'anks's presence and perhaps sensing the threat she poses, are on high alert, their eyes and weapons trained on her, leaving little room for Kutshort to slip by unnoticed.

In a moment of tactical collaboration, Kutshort and T'anks devise a plan to rescue Sildar Hallwinter from his perilous situation. Recognizing the urgency to free Sildar and arm him for the impending battle, T'anks positions herself to give Kutshort the necessary boost to reach Sildar's elevated holding area. With a nod of understanding between them, they execute their plan with precision.

T'anks braces herself, providing a stable platform for Kutshort. The Rogue takes a few steps back, then runs forward, vaulting off of the Bard's back and shoulders to propel himself upwards with impressive agility. The maneuver is swift, catching the goblins off guard as Kutshort soars through the air, reaching the ledge where Sildar is bound.

Landing deftly beside the captive, Kutshort wastes no time. He quickly draws a slim, sharp knife from his belt and slices through Sildar's bonds with a few precise cuts. The ropes fall away, and Sildar, though weakened and bearing the marks of his captivity, breathes a sigh of relief at his newfound freedom.

Understanding the importance of arming Sildar for the fight ahead, Kutshort hands him a dagger, ensuring the seasoned warrior has the means to defend himself. Despite his grievous injuries, Sildar's eyes light up with determination as he grips the dagger tightly, ready to stand alongside the adventurers in combat against the goblins.

After ensuring that Sildar Hallwinter is free and armed for the battle, Kutshort quickly assesses the situation. He knows that his next move needs to maximize his effectiveness in the fight while minimizing his exposure to danger, especially considering the chaotic nature of the ongoing skirmish. With this in mind, Kutshort looks for a position that would allow him to leverage his skills in stealth and surprise to their fullest.

Spotting a large stalagmite nearby, Kutshort decides it provides the perfect cover. The stalagmite's bulk is sufficient to conceal his presence from the goblins (depending on their vantage point) and its location offers a strategic vantage point from which he can launch attacks or support his companions without drawing too much attention to himself.

(( Sildar's spot in Initiative falls between the two groups of goblins ))

"He better know what he's gotten himself into here," T'anks muses as she feels the brief weight of Kutshort leave her. As it does she launches herself off of the wall, north and east, grabbing at the fastened Giant Snake Tongue and mid-positioning rips it loose.

A present for you, vermin! she calls out as she throws the unfurling tongue into the makeshift campsite between the Goblins. The tongue of your protector, laid low in a single strike. We want the prisoner. Flee now and you may escape its fate. Irritate me further... a sulfuric scent begins to permeate the air, a sense of foreboding and palpable malice following suit as the Tiefling gives in to her Infernal nature. A guttural hiss creeps into her voice. And every, single, one of you will pray Death had come for you instead of me.

But this isn't a threat. It's a promise.

The psychological impact of T'anks's intimidation tactic is immediate. Two of the goblins are overwhelmed by fear. Visions of being defeated by these formidable adventurers, who had slain a giant poisonous snake and now stood ready to do the same to them, fill their minds. Without a second thought, they turn and flee, scrambling away from the battle and disappearing into the darker recesses of the cave.

The remaining goblins glance nervously at each other, their confidence waning in the face of this unexpected show of intimidation. T'anks's tactic has not only reduced their numbers but also sown seeds of doubt and fear among them, making them question their chances of victory.

The tension in the air is palpable as she then draws her bowstring back, her focus narrowing to the goblin she has chosen as her target.

However, the dynamics of battle are unpredictable. Just as T'anks releases the arrow, the goblin unexpectedly shifts its position.

The arrow whistles through the air, missing its intended target and embedding itself into the cave wall behind the goblin.

Goblin Boss Turn

Perhaps seeing Sildar as a symbol of the adventurers' resolve, one goblin boss aims to strike a demoralizing blow against the newly freed captive. With a vicious snarl, the goblin boss lunges forward, his scimitar raised high, intent on cutting down Sildar.

Sildar, though weakened from his time in captivity and still recovering from his injuries, is no stranger to combat. His experience as a seasoned warrior kicks in. Anticipating the goblin boss's strike, Sildar manages to sidestep the attack, using the goblin's momentum against him. The scimitar swings through the air, missing its intended target by mere inches, and crashes against the stone floor of the cave with a clang, sparks flying upon impact.

Emboldened by the first goblin boss's failure, the other goblin boss attempts to succeed where his counterpart could not. He lunges at Sildar with a ferocity born of desperation, hoping to land a decisive blow that might turn the tide of the battle in their favor.

However, in his eagerness to strike a blow against Sildar, the second goblin boss overextends, resulting in a critical failure. (Natural 1 on the attack roll} His foot catches on a loose stone, and he stumbles forward, the momentum of his intended attack sending him sprawling to the ground in front of Sildar and the adventurers. The scimitar clatters uselessly away from his grasp, leaving the goblin boss vulnerable and exposed.

Sildar Hallwinter's turn

Sildar, who has been biding his time and waiting for an opportunity to contribute to the fight, seizes the moment. The dagger Kutshort handed him earlier becomes the instrument of his retaliation.

With the goblin boss now defenseless before him, Sildar acts with precision. He drives the dagger down with all the strength he can muster, the blade piercing through the goblin boss's armor and finding its mark. The stab is swift and decisive, a critical strike against the goblin leader who had hoped to overwhelm Sildar mere moments before. 6 piercing damage to Goblin Baus!

Goblin Turn

In the midst of the escalating battle, as the adventurers work to fend off the goblin onslaught, one particularly bold goblin sees an opportunity to strike at T'anks. Emboldened by the chaos the goblin lunges forward with a crude, jagged blade aimed at the tiefling bard.

Dragmire's Held Action is Triggered

Dragmire, keeping a watchful eye over the battlefield and his companions, immediately notices the imminent threat to T'anks. Reacting instinctively, he channels the arcane energy that courses through him, summoning the power for an Eldritch Blast. The dark, crackling energy coalesces in his hand, aimed at intercepting the goblin before it can reach T'anks.

With a shout, the Warlock releases the Eldritch Blast, the bolt of energy streaking across the space between him and the goblin. However, in the heat of the moment the blast veers off course. The energy bolt misses its intended target, instead striking the cave wall with a burst of eldritch force that sends shards of rock scattering.

Goblin Turn Resumes

As the goblin continues its charge, T'anks braces herself for the impending attack. The goblin, with a surprising burst of speed and ferocity, closes the distance between them. With a vicious swing of its scimitar, the goblin manages to land a powerful blow on the Bard.

The blade slices through her defenses, dealing a grievous wound that immediately paints a stark line of crimson across her. The impact of the strike sends T'anks reeling, the pain intense and overwhelming. The injury she sustains is serious, near fatal, and for a moment, the battle around her seems to fade into the background as she grapples with the shock and the sudden, sharp agony.

T'anks takes 6 slashing damage!

Meanwhile, amidst the chaos, another goblin, seizing the opportunity to target what it perceives as a key figure in the adventurers' ranks, takes aim at Sildar Hallwinter with its shortbow. The tension of the bowstring echoes faintly in the cavern as the goblin releases its arrow, hoping to capitalize on the disarray and further demoralize the adventurers by striking down their recently freed ally.

However, the goblin's aim proves lacking, or perhaps fate intervenes, as the arrow whistles harmlessly past Sildar, missing its intended mark. Sildar, already on high alert from his own close call and the sight of T'anks being wounded, dodges instinctively, the arrow embedding itself in the cave wall behind him.

But the goblins, relentless in their assault, have one more card to play. Another goblin levels its shortbow at T'anks, aiming to capitalize on her weakened state. With a cold precision, the goblin releases its arrow, which finds its target with a cruel accuracy. The arrow strikes T'anks, exacerbating her already critical injuries and sending her collapsing to the ground, unconscious and in dire need of aid.

T'anks takes 3 piercing damage!

T'anks is unconscious!

Hopper's Turn

The party, witnessing T'anks's fall, feels a surge of fear and urgency. However, it's Hopper, the party's newly adopted pet wolf, who reacts with immediate ferocity. Hopper instinctively understands the gravity of the situation. The wolf, with a low growl rumbling in its throat, locks its gaze on the goblin who dared to slash the Tiefling with its big evil sword.

With a powerful leap, Hopper charges at the goblin, closing the distance in a heartbeat. The goblin barely has time to register the impending threat before Hopper is upon it.

Hopper's jaws clamp down on the goblin with lethal force, its teeth sinking deep into the creature's flesh. The goblin's attempts to fend off the wolf are futile; Hopper's attack is relentless and final. Within moments, the goblin is overpowered and succumbs to its injuries, its threat to the party extinguished by the wolf's decisive intervention.

He passes Dragmire who seems to have just misfired. Next he passes devil, unconscious, Dude can't help but let out a soft chuckle - she'll be fine. He takes his place right beside hopper.

Dude travels 30 feet to just south of Hopper.

Surveying the scene, there may not be much he can do with the sword. He looks back at devil and reluctantly sighs. Time to do what Dude does best. Dude swings his sword into the nearby rock causing an echo in the den.

DO I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION NOW!?

Dude pauses until he is confident the focus of the Den has shifted onto him.

Are you kidding me!? The boss, no, sorry, YOUR boss sends me here to escort the human to him and he's already escaped!? I come here, treat your scouts to a nice meal, I feed your wolves, I... take care of your snake problem.

Dude lifts the sword into the air, still dripping with the fresh blood of the giant snake.

The human is coming with us. Your boss is paying me good money and if that human isn't in front of him by tomorrow, every goblin in this cave is dead.

Dude grips his sword a little firmer as he awaits a response...

End of Combat Encounter

After a tense moment, one goblin boss, seemingly bolder than the rest of the tribe, steps forward. This goblin boss, with a crooked grin revealing jagged teeth, addresses the party.

"Alright, big man-turtle talks big. Maybe you work for boss, maybe not. But we got a deal for you," the goblin says, its voice a raspy sneer.

"Listen here," the goblin continues, his voice tinged with a mix of cunning and greed, "you lot seem capable enough, and you've got guts, showing up here like this. I'll cut to the chase. Our 'beloved' leader, Klarg, is nothing but a tyrant. He's strong, yes, but his leadership is... lacking. It's time for a change, and I'm the goblin to lead us to better days."

The goblin continues, "If you work for Klarg as you say, you can get close to Klarg. You can kill Klarg. You help me get rid of Klarg, and I'll ensure your safe passage out of here, with your friend," he says, nodding towards Sildar. "It's simple, really. You scratch my back, I scratch yours. Under my leadership, we'll have no quarrel with you."

This is certainly an interesting turn of events.

That is an interesting proposition you propose, my friend. We have no love for Klarg, and are open to your offer.

What is your name, and what type of following do you have?

Would you care to join us in finding and defeating Klarg? It would bolster your leadership claim to part of the group that actually kill Klarg, so everyone can see your prowess.

To show we can trust you, do you have a safe place for us to rest? As you astutely pointed out, our friend here is in need of some healing

Dude lets out a passive smirk, his specialty has never been combat after all - it's always been... words. The word "tyrant" sends a ringing into Dude's ears, almost triggering something inside of him to accept the deal that the goblin has claimed. He knows goblins are typically not to be trusted, but with devil down and out, and Sildar clinging onto life with nothing but a dagger - this feels like it must happen.

...we'll kill Klarg. Sildar comes with us, otherwise, he'll know something is amiss. My word is my bond, I'll bring you Klarg's head, and we'll leave. Should you choose to be... paranoid, you're welcome to gather the crew and block the entrance. But you... you can be the leader of these goblins for all I care. We'll behead Klarg and rob him blind, if it makes no difference to you. Maybe find a chimney along the way for my friend in the tunnels.

Dude turns around, looking down the tunnel at the unconscious devil, his eyes seemingly entranced by the horns upon her head... as if reminiscing...

But first...

Dude starts to hum a tune...

Strike a deal with The Devil,
forget the ash, forget the dust,
awaken one who looks a devil,
and she will walk with us.

Tortle Dude's words are directed at T'anks, bringing her out of unconsciousness and getting her back up to speed (Healing Word).

Dude mutters quietly enough for only T'anks to hear...

...Remember this devil... you owe me...

T'anks slowly regains consciousness, becoming aware of her surroundings once again... and of the excruciating pain still running through her body. She hears Dude's voice, vaguely registering the meaning of his words. "Still alive, then...?" the words pass through her mind. The rest of the dark whispers not far behind; she moves her head to stave them off, her horns limiting movement in this position as always.

She slowly pulls herself to a sitting position, leaning against the wall and taking in the sight before her. Several of the Goblin are still alive, but weapons are no longer drawn and the two sides appear to be... talking. Making a deal? She's still delirious and incapable of focusing enough to work out what's going on. After a few moments, she makes the effort to stand. Noting the blood on her garb, the arc of the scimitar a now-cauterized wound across her torso, the arrowhead still lodged in her flesh. Something to deal with soon, but not now.

Continuing to lean against the wall, now while standing, T'anks begins working to make sense of what's happening. Dude looks back in her direction again, making eye contact.

Dude sensing what he deems to be a vulnerable moment for T'anks chooses to not add insult to injury, biting his tongue - and instead giving her a simple nod.

Dude motions for Dragmire to come join them in the Den to regroup and to hear what the tiny one with them thinks of the situation.

Dude now considers the words Kutshort has uttered and it makes Dude uneasy. Dude knows all too well that goblins should not be trusted, his Grandtorty taught him that pretty consistently - especially when he was off slashing their throats. He doesn't want to spend any more time in this Den than he has to, but if that's what the group wants... Dude will continue to fulfill his self proclaimed role... the protector. Everyone makes it out alive, no one gets left behind.

Dude, feeling uneasy about how easy this occurred wants to see if he can pick up any cues on the true intent of the goblin boss.

After a moment of silent contemplation, the Tortle Dude concludes that while the goblin's desire to see Klarg removed from power is genuine, there's a strong likelihood that this ambitious goblin will ask more of them before their deal is considered complete. The insight reveals a deeper layer of cunning within the goblin, a willingness to exploit the situation and the adventurers to his fullest advantage.
This is certainly an interesting turn of events.

kutshort attempts to persuade this goblin to join them on a temporary basis and provide a safe space to rest

The goblin, keenly aware of the adventurers' value in his bid for power, pauses to consider Kutshort's request. After a moment, he nods, seeing an opportunity to further secure his position in the deal. "Alright, I can arrange for a safe spot for you to rest up before you take on Klarg. And I guess it makes sense for me to come with you... But," he adds, eyeing Sildar Hallwinter, "I need assurance that your friend here doesn't attempt an escape before the deed is done. He stays here, bound, as collateral, until Klarg is dealt with."
The party exchanges uneasy glances, weighing the necessity of rest and recuperation against the discomfort and potential risk of leaving Sildar bound. It's Sildar himself who breaks the silence, his voice firm despite his weakened state.

"Listen to me," he says, locking eyes with each member of the party, "you can't trust the word of a goblin. This deal, it's built on shaky ground. I appreciate your efforts to secure my safety, but we must be cautious. If you agree to this, be ready for anything."

"QUIET!"
After gathering himself after the outburst, the goblin, confident in his position, responds, "You have my word. Deal with Klarg, and not only does your friend go free, but you'll have safe passage out of here. I have nothing to gain by harming him once Klarg is out of the picture. He's insurance, nothing more."

As Dude evaluates the situation - he realizes, not only would we have to deal with Klarg. But we might have to deal with this goblin as well, or worse yet - he may side with Klarg and we have to fight them all in one spot. This deal that the goblin is proposing is starting to seem more and more treacherous as time goes on. Sildar himself warned us, putting his own neck on the line. Dude is still waiting for Dragmire to join them in the Den, trusting the goblins with a safe spot to rest feels to be unwise. Dude's main concern of halting combat was to give the adventurers time to regroup, which he feels they have now. Should the need for a fight start again, Dude firms up the grip on his sword, and waits for someone else to make a move. He turns to T'anks and says softly...

...how're you feeling?

Dude casually walks a little bit deeper into the Den, waiting to see what his fellow adventurers will do... but he stands ready for whatever comes next.

My friend, Kutshort says to the goblin, I appreciate your kind gesture in securing us a place to rest, however leaving Sildar tied up is not the best idea. We do not know what defenses Klarg has. There is a strong chance that we will need every fighter at our disposal. Do you want to risk failure and being deemed a traitor? I give you my word that Sildar will not escape and will help us kill the goblin responsible for his imprisonment, Klarg. He cannot get revenge if he escapes

"Alright, listen up," the goblin starts, his tone sharp and commanding, despite the clear reluctance in his voice. "You seem dead set on having your friend here join in on your little crusade against Klarg. Fine. But you've got to understand, I'm not just any run-of-the-mill goblin. My knowledge of these tunnels, the traps, and Klarg's habits, it's invaluable. You won't get far without me."

He pauses, letting the weight of his words sink in before continuing, "But here's the deal—Klarg's not fond of traitors, and if I'm seen siding with you lot, my head's as good as gone. So, you've got a choice to make. It's either me guiding you through, giving you the edge you need to take down Klarg... or your friend, Sildar, here."

The goblin crosses his arms, a smug look on his face, fully aware of the dilemma he's presented to the adventurers. "Can't have both. If I'm in, he's out. I can't risk it. Besides, I gotta get my guys together to make sure you don't just try and sneak outta the cave without fulfilling your end of the deal, if we can't keep that guy all tied up. So, what's it gonna be? My brains or his brawn?"

It’s not that I do not trust you, but Sildar will need to be unbound while we rest.

I will need to confer with the rest of our group before we come to a final decision.

Maybe there is a compromise we can reach, such as Sildar stays bound until we reach Klarg and we release him for the fight

With his well-honed perception skills, Kutshort scrutinizes the goblin, looking for any signs that might reveal the creature's condition or intentions. His gaze sweeps over the goblin, noting the stance, the state of its equipment, and any visible injuries or signs of fatigue. An ocular pat-down, as it were. Its always sunny in Phandelver.

Kutshort's keen eyes catch the nuances of the goblin's appearance. He notes that the goblin, despite the ongoing turmoil within the cave and the evident stress of leadership disputes, appears to be in surprisingly good condition. There are no visible wounds or signs of recent combat on the goblin's body. Its movements are fluid and confident, without the hesitation or sluggishness that would suggest injury or exhaustion.

Sildar, surprised but quick to understand the source of the Message, responds with a whisper, taking advantage of the spell's capabilities to relay vital information without alerting their captors or the negotiating goblin.

"Gundren was taken to another location by Klarg's band, I believe to a place called Cragmaw Castle. I don't know the specifics of his current condition or the exact location, but it's crucial we find him quickly," Sildar's sotto voce reply is tinged with concern for his companion's safety. "As for Klarg, he's a formidable Bugbear, stronger and more cunning than typical of his kind. He relies heavily on brute force, but his overconfidence could be his downfall. He's not known for his patience and can be provoked into acting rashly if we can exploit that."

Do you think we can get Klarg to come kill this dummy himself?

Dragmire is somewhat speechless at the series of events that happened since the start of the snake encounter. A sense of disappointment at not letting loose an Eldritch Blast can be detected from his body language.

Dragmire sees the goblin remaining in the Den after also meeting up with the party.

Guys, you missed one!

Dragmire holds his hand up as he is preparing to cast an Eldritch Blast.

{{If no one interrupts me I'm gonna shoot the goblin}}
