I've only skimmed the last few posts to see what the problem was, but I think it was either/both a) initial setup of a league, b) updating it easily.

If so; I could pretty easily find exactly what data that addons wants for whatever database table, use that to make a form or template for you to complete, and then I can parse the template and do a direct SQL update. Just avoid faffing with the hundreds of pages and options, pick out the stuff you want default and the stuff you want to change, and I can shove it in when submitted to me.

We could do the same for updates, too. If there's something that needs to be updated periodically, I can break down the data the table is holding and we'll update it there.

I'm assuming the setup/updates won't be very regular, so I'm cool with doing it ad hoc as they come up.

My bitching about initial setup is not to be confused with my bitching about adding individual games. Initial setup is a pain, but adding the games is bearable comparatively, my overarching point being that one way or another we’re going to have to enter the data at least once… so unless there’s a way to automatically pool all of the data together and have it automatically generate the games or the results, making a whole ass script to plug it all in for us would just be extra work since we still have to manually enter it all. I’d just hate to see you bust your ass on something that could only potentially shave off a few minutes per “week” in the pool.

It’s quite a bit for as simplistic as it appears on the front end… Home and away team, start time, pool open and close time, where it falls within the seasonal schedule, and two score fields that start at -0 by default.

The only regularly updated thing now is the standings, and that’s already a cron job that pushes the update through as soon as I submit final scoring for a game.

Fortunately, I took the time to preload a few American sports, and Crystal or Lee also took the time to add some hockey and soccer/football leagues. Unless we’re missing a league that members want covered, the only thing we should have to do now is account for team relocations or rebranding, but neither happen frequently enough to necessitate any automation on that front. Having something automatically import the scores could be handy, but only as a luxury… it’s not really that much work to edit scores in after the fact.
