This is posted by a man who has a law degree but is blindly trusting anything he comes across on Twitter, he's also the father of two young girls but he's going to vote for Trump

Trump voting Republicans are not known for their wisdom or intelligence.

a friend of mine uses mirror pronouns which means you use whatever pronoun set you use for yourself when referring to her. so since i use she/they for myself i refer to them the same way. if that's too complicated ve also uses ve/vir. the pronoun sets i've seen would make even the most milquetoast liberals hurl

I heard a Harris ad on Spotify this morning and it was her saying she was running on Freedom, the freedom not just to get by but get ahead, freedom to be safe from gun violence, freedom over you own body.

And it got me thinking how it's another way they're flipping the script on Republicans. They used to claim to be the party of law and order, now they're running a felon against a DA (the "police"). Then Walz started taking the "government stay out of our business" idea that used to be theirs, now they're taking the whole "Freedom" thing too.

Surprisingly, we just got back from spending a week in the Outer Banks and heard nothing but Harris/Walz ads the entire time. No Trump ads, but plenty of graphics around the area from billboards to “Trump HQ” bullshit. Guess he doesn’t need to advertise down there, but she does?

Trump hasn't been well regarded for his planning. He's probably still operating on the "I'll do rallies and get free advertisements/coverage from the news" model that worked well in the past. It's not working as well this time around though.

He might also not believe that NC is actually in play, despite a couple of recent polls showing otherwise (and despite there potentially being a case where the Governor's election could help carry the presidential ticket over...they hate the Lt. Gov who is running (R) and that person is getting crushed in the polls against their D rival right now).

Part of the problem is the bat shit insane things he and Vance are spewing is coming across as extremely off putting to everyone this time around.

There was definitely no shortage of Trump campaign propaganda on the way through to Rodanthe, but every other commercial Max played or we heard elsewhere was about the Harris campaign, which is what initially caught my attention when I heard the first ad. I don’t know enough about NC politically, but I definitely wasn’t in Baltimore or western MD anymore in terms of the atmosphere. We even saw some lifted truck bro with a bloody eared Trump flag, which is kinda bizarre that the flag companies are producing them that quickly as I’ve seen them in Hagerstown, MD as well as during my time in NC.

Yeah all of Trumps voters definitely earned the "weird" badge as well by buying and waving flags of one man.

I won’t go as far as to say all of them… one of them just posted this on their Facebook feed:

…which I personally think is kinda odd considering the cult of personality and all, but, whatever, I’m not a political science major or a shrink, so I’ll be damned if I can figure out a rationale.

They think it’s directed at people who love Walz

really love how we are highlighting up and coming people within the party.

I'll never forget when last time, when it came time for the role call, each of the states' representatives had a short clip...and it was recorded with them standing in their state, against a background that represented their state. That spoke to me SO much. I love each of our 50 states. Each of those 50 states have something to highlight. I'll never forget how our rep showed our beautiful prairie, when we usually just get shit on for being flat, or we are forgotten.

I am so, so excited for Barry O tonight. I'll never forget his speech during the Kerry DNC. I haven't heard him speak in awhile. He's the only person that actually excites me for a political speech. He's the only presidential pol I've seen in person.

I also have been hearing that AOC gave a good speech. I haven't listened to it yet but I will. Wondering what her future will be...it'll be awesome whatever it is.

I did listen to Biden. I think his spark is still there. He kept being interrupted. I liked how he spoke of the dangers of Trump so that Kamela can talk about a more positive message (I'm assuming).

I will also say that hopefully they will tighten things up a little. The energy is great but the speeches ran over time.

Oh yeah, I guess I should say something about HRC. I thought it was good to frame/acknowledge how she helped pave the way. "Lock him up" was...satisfying.

As long as she doesn't suffer the same fate as the other "Squad" members. Being as progressive as they are receive a lot of pushback from both the right and the middle. I have long believed we need a more dramatic shift away from capitalism and conservatism and a little more radical socialism as a country, but I also realize I'm in a minority.

I mean the original four members of the squad are all still around.

Yeah, but 3 of the 4 are in safe blue states. The 4th is in a predominantly blue district in a purple state. I'd be happier if they could maintain their spots in more competitive districts and states. But that's not here or there.

some other comments:

the women sharing their stories about their pregnancies/miscarriages/rapes etc and how they were affected by the abortion ruling was really powerful. I think Dems are already aware of these awful stories out there but hopefully that message made it really clear what is happening and why we shouldn't go back, maybe even swayed some pro-life people.

Warnock was good. He definitely went to church lol. I think he also has a bright future ahead.

The other young lady was really good (sorry I don't remember her name, she gave her story about meeting Harris). Mostly it's such a STARK difference between the two conventions. Totally different moods. We actually gave honor to our past presidents and nominees, which will continue throughout. The other convention didn't. It is also feeling like a passing of the torch between generations too.

Edit: wouldn't it be so amazing if the coda was a very short clip of Jimmy Carter saying "go win kid" or something like that

I know he is almost on the other side, no idea if he can still say anything but wow

List of Democratic presidents who support Kamala:
Carter, Clinton, Obama, Biden

List of Republican presidents who support Trump:
Trump

What a picture that paints
Pretty much, yeah. It's not for nothing that it's called "the party of Trump" now. Dudes name went from being plastered on his sky scraper to selling flags.

curious about @Mark 's thoughts on this MD senate race

My first thought was that there is no way anybody can beat Hogan, but then I just looked up the polls and it seems she has a 99% chance so what do I know

From what I gather, it's pretty similar to MA. We like Republicans for Governor, but not for anything that's federal.

It's a weird "put a check on the state politics" to balance it sort of thing, but then a "we're not risking it nationally" thing. No matter how much they're liked in the state.

Vermont is the same. And then states like Tennessee and Kentucky have also had opposite party governors, with Tennessee having a very popular Democrat as governor get routed in the Senate campaign.
