Zell Wolf Discussion Thread Game 5

I might just go totally off the rails for the next game

Vash should have brought you back. The poetry of bringing back the wolves first kill. Great story even if you didn't have the needed talents.
Nah, Ants was the better option. Plus, if it looked like you two were going to gain the upper hand, I would have thrown you under the bus. I told Vash as much in a sarcastic "I totally won't stab you in the back" manner.

FWIW I think nudging the game in your favor by promising a special badge for it is in really poor fucking taste

Also people taking shit said in game way too personally. The betrayal stuff is said within the context of the game -- whatever you can say to nudge the game slightly in your favor. Cole and Cash gotta chill about that. If I betrayed my wife in the game she'd probably be pissed, and I would 100% expect anyone to do their best to exploit that weakness 😁

Because, in the end, it's all just a game. It doesn't matter. People are still just taking it way too seriously.

Now for me to take it too seriously:

Zell: I'm down for another game. I'm not going to be effortposting anymore though because there doesn't seem to be a point. It may sound bitter, but it really seems like hasty accusations and mockery do more to sway the crowd than detailed analysis.

I explained the Vash-Chrisrina connection, explained why Vash would reasonably lie about my role, why Vash didn't bring anyone back from the dead (which, up until that point, was valid). I offered Tubby up as RK, which was completely plausible until I was lynched (sorry @Tubby23 , I'm not targetting you, you just always get in my way ☹️). I spelled out for the wolves how voting for me would lead to their downfall (as it did). I spelled out for the townies how voting for me would lead to their downfall (and I would've been right were it not for the last-minute witch claim by Jawneh). With couple + cupid + wolves, I was done-for anyway, but the remaining townies voting for me was a twist of the knife.

Although, now everyone is aware of the possibility that the actual medium might lie in-game, and that's kind of exciting for the next game!

Maybe considering someone usually ends up quitting the games after every single iteration, everyone should do a better job being nice to each other instead of being dicks.

Or we can just keep losing possible players out of attrition.

What I said was 100% in context of the game and only meant that way. It wasn't taken that way, and therefore I should be sure to not make comments like that again. That's why I've been apologizing. It doesn't matter what my intent was when the result was bad.

Until now, the general consensus seemed to be that we're better off without people who take the game so seriously as to take things personally.

But I wouldn't want you to lose you as a participant. You were dealt an awful hand last game and you played it to the best way you conceivably could. You're a great player and you're fun to play with. You never struck me as the type to take something so personally that was clearly said in the spirit of the game, so I assume this was a one-off.

I know it was probably just a question of perception. You didn't want to be perceived as a bad husband, and Christina didn't want others perceiving you as one, either. But no one really thinks of you that way. You and Christina have been together for almost two decades now. We may have lost touch over the years, but you two were some of my favorite PIMI posters -- way back when we were like a pack of feral cats and you were our shepherd. It's awesome to see you two still together after all these years.

So that's why I don't think you should take things personally (easier said than done, I know). It's all just part of the game, and it's important that we can sort of compartmentalize that. We're old enough and mature(ish) enough and respectful enough of each other that we would never really mean one another any harm with the shit we sling in the middle of a wolf game.

Except for Tubby. Fuck that guy.

I just made a thread in the t-dome explaining my side of the situation so I'm not going to rehash it here. If you're interested, it's there.

I will say I appreciate the kind words and look forward to playing and fighting with you guys in the future and hopefully this situation will help inform me on people's true intentions in the future.

Vash accepted your apology, so anyone else, continuing to give you a hard time about it doesn’t matter.

Besides, people don’t seem to think it’s baloney when TD claims that getting mad about being voted for in Vash’s game and calling everyone idiots was “in character for the game”, so I think that you deserve some grace too.

This is one of the many reasons I'm done too. I've been feeling this the last few games I've played.

At the end of the day with the way these games are designed, the moment you are openly accused from a role reveal role there's honestly no point in fighting it.

I offered Tubby up as RK, which was completely plausible until I was lynched
Respectfully, I disagree. Even if we didn't know you were the RK, that argument was full of holes.

Fwiw - Tubby dying and getting trickstered had nothing to do with you, we had to decide that the night before, long before you claimed aura seer.

You know what might've saved you? Using your kill. Don't know when you suspected Christina/Vash but if you suspected them Day 2, should've killed Christina then.

Hindsight is easy to talk about though but as a few others have said, they'd kill every night as RK.

I think if you guys had the ability to chat during the day you probably shadow on somebody else, right?

It has definitely been that way so far. Eventually, the wolves will sell somebody early, because they CAN. After that people will probably start taking "info" with more thought.

It wasn't though. Everything was consistent. Tubby could've been the RK, Vash and Christina WERE working together, and my fake aura checks lined up (except for Tubby, which was not provable).

No, trickster can decide any time:
Wolf Trickster: Can select a non-wolf player. Can change the player selected at anytime via PM

I didn't suspect them until Vash accused me. In retrospect I should've used my kill, yes, but it was also my cover for protecting myself after accusing Tubby of being a fake aura seer.

RK Raposa was practically useless in the previous game (mostly by bad luck) and if he played his cards better in the final round he would've had a 50/50 shot at winning.

But it was. It's unbecoming to think your argument was without holes. We get blinders to our own play, yes, but you had many holes.

LOL Kelly, you really gonna tell me no?

Trickster yes. The wolves cannot talk in chat during the day until the night after shadow is used, there was no changing the Day 2 plan.

I've always wanted to play Corrupter or Illusionist because they can cause so much chaos and confusion. I was pretty disappointed that we did have a Corrupter and no kills from it.

Yeah Tubby as RK was really your only argument, and the pieces did line up. The only problem with it (and why I would have voted you if I was a villager) is I just can't see Tubby faking Aura seer as RK. ESPECIALLY with a day 1 aura check on an unclaimed player, I don't think Tubby has got it in him (but I would love to be proven wrong).

I don't think people ignored your post because they weren't trying or wanted to meme or whatever. I think you had 6 votes lined up against you no matter WHAT you said (all 4 wolves + Vash + Cole) because they knew exactly what you were and didn't even need to read the posts.

When I was RK I chose to kill Holly the first night at first, and then changed my mind and decided not to kill anybody in case someone checked me. Which was a good call, because they did check me and has Zell pointed out it changed the entire course of the game.

Speaking of which, I seemed to have set this whole thing off by choosing Christina one night two. Maybe I should get a badge for coming up with all of these game-altering night actions. Lol

I know TD was a little upset he got role revealed, but give Ben credit too. It's hard to pick both an evil player AND a person that will die in the same night.

All due respect, being able to choose a suicide role as the role you can predict dying is pretty unbalanced.

Regardless if I was the discovery or not.

Yeah but that's still assuming the Suicide bomber succeeds/fucks up.

There's still permutations there to consider. Ants thought he was choosing a safe target, and announced ahead of time that's what he was intending. Ben had to decide if he thought Ants would fail or not.

Yes, it gave him a higher chance, but it wasn't a slam dunk. In this case, Ben was right to not have faith in Ants.

I might have typed up this whole thing to make a playful dunk on Ants there.

Sure, except that Ben has to believe that Ants is a real random villager while being a random villager himself. Of course, he might have got it backwards. Maybe he thought Ants was fake and you were real.
