I gotta say, no matter how this last bit shakes out, I think this has been one of the most fun and most memorable first chapters of a campaign I've been involved in.
I love to hear that! I hoped as our DM you've been having fun.

I gotta say, I am absolutely loving this and it's also been an amazing/fun distraction from "real life".

Vash's storytelling as a whole is pretty impeccable, you can tell he's really paying attention to what matters to our respective characters.
definitely. I honestly cannot tell if any of the history between T’anks and Klarg and the goblins in general was discussed between @Raine and @VashTheStampede because of how seamlessly he weaves it into his world building

I hope I am. I have a tendency to read things carefully and I have a propensity to look for foreshadowing although it could be misdirection...

Fine.

The goblins we safely let leave the cavern are going to come back, assuming Klarg is taken care of and ambush us while we've depleted our spells and inspirations. We won't be ready and we'll all die.

Bingo! Dino DNA.
That's what the thing @Ben posted was:

Those two were concepts. Merrow shouldn't have any legs, but that's hard to get AI to do at times.

But yes, they're merfolk who millenia ago found a relic of Demogorgon and began worshipping it, eventually preforming a ritual through merfolk murder, mermurder.

They opened a portal to The Prince of Demons realm and went through. Then over time, fighting for their lives in a demon realm turned them into monsters with more reptilian features.

But yeah Carl is an asshole. A misunderstood asshole.

Picking my spells as a newcomer to D&D when you're not familiar with terminology was challenging, overwhelming, but also fun.

There really is such a diverse selection.

Luckily a lot of D&D spells were absorbed into other RPG games, so you're probably familiar with a lot of them by osmosis.

Faerie Fire is a spell in WoW, for instance. Does the same thing basically, and stops rogues/druids being able to enter stealth.
