THE STORY CONTINUES:
Having departed from Dragon's Rest for the second time, your band of adventurers slowly make their way down the mountain paths towards the shore where you first landed. The journey is uneventful and peaceful, a welcome contrast to the carnage the party has faced since arriving on the island. Songbirds flutter across the path ahead of you as they dart back and forth between bushes, hunting the insects they harbor. Your walk down to the water does not take more than a half hour however, so the ramble through nature is fleeting.

Returning to the beach where you had fought the zombies, the party find the scene just as you left it. The battered corpses of the drowned sailors lay immobile where they were slain, the putrid grey flesh not appealing to any scavengers and having been left untouched. Your group moves cautiously past the bodies, one by one each battling the anxiety that the monsters will spring up again and attack.

The five of you convene on the short wooden dock. There is an old fishing net dangling over the edge and trailing in the water, where it appears to be tangled within a clump of seaweed. Several short lengths of aging rope are knotted here and there around the thick posts, some having been cut free in haste rather than untied. A rowboat not dissimilar to the one you arrived in is tethered to the dock, and you see a pair of oars laying across the seats. The boat appears big enough for 4 medium sized passengers.

North of your position, you can see a long spur of sharp rocks jutting from the ocean waves, extending several miles out.

Aims watches as Moonsprout drags away the new pupper up to a more safe place. He's very impressed by thr small halfling being able to do this.

Wow. I wouldnt have been able guess grabbing a stiffy got the halfling so excited.
((He literally tugged a stiffy off in front of everyone.))

((Lol my d4 rolls for Ur’kokk have been terrible))

You move North to get a clear shot around Nac's beard.

The ghoul starts towards you, wanting your supple red meat-bits.

file-6uh6vK97HPGbuqExcFHtV0Z6.png

You level your shot and pull the trigger of your crossbow.

The Ghoul take another shaft to the chest.

file-8lxz2kx346onqWXdm6pr7y4I.png

You deal 6 points of damage to the Ghoul.

The ghoul staggers to a halt, dead blue eyes staring at you as the necrotic magics try to drive the monster forward, but the vessel is too damaged. With a groan, the Ghoul collapses into the water

file-WIMBl3GQoCmjE3FhagDOkiFr.png

Ghoul has been defeated. |

((Told you you'd all be fine! :D2 ))

| A minute passes, and you begin to feel the sensation return to your paws. You're no longer paralyzed or incapacitated. |

((Still in wild shape, that'd last a while longer if you choose.))

((Just posting for review. Combat is over.))

((Aims must've waddled through a small lake to get to that zombie. Dang.))

Okay, okay... they're all dead now. Deader. Whatever. The pupper!

Aims runs up the deck to find the pup. Still 100% oblivious to the fact that it's Short Order and not a nice new furry friend. He tries to go lean over to give him pets and scritches before he starts walking towards the sleeping quarters. Aims is a tad confused about the pup showing so much leadership qualities, but decides to follow him.

@Ben
|As the last of the undead fall, the ship is for a time, silent. The party do not move while waiting for Short Order to recover, fearing another assault from the undead scourge. But none comes, and for now it appears as though the danger has passed.

You find yourselves scattered around the ship. Short Order and Moonsprout are on the upper deck, with Zesty, Nac and Aims still down below in the lower deck.

On rising, Wolf Order pads back into the crews quarters and stops inside the doorway.

1711125129050.png

On the lower deck, having a chance to assess the surroundings, you find that the water is slightly deeper on the South side of the ship. There are various crates and barrels strewn around, some seemingly unopened and undamaged.

Towards the rear of the ship, where Aims had dropped down from the hole in the Captain's Quarters, a hole of similar size to the one above is punched through the decking. It is below water, but you could fit through this hole. |

((F it, I'm not redoing the screenshot. Aims is there too.))

Aims perks up to the noise and looks what the pup is doing.

Whats up boy? Did you find something? Lets see now...

He looks at the boards Short was clawing.
He grabs the boards and yanks them out.

@Jawneh
|You pull the board free.

A dart trap triggers and a small needle-tipped projectile flies up out of the hole at you.

You manage to dodge out of the way.

The trap clicks as it becomes inactive.

Inside the space under the floorboards, you find an old molding sack with 200gp inside. |

((I'm good with a short rest. Would rather heal up some before investigating in case of more traps. I can't afford to take a hit.))

With the weight of battle finally over for the time being, Ur'kokk returns to his spot on Zesty's shoulder as the artificer walks carefully back to the stairs up. The weariness real, he barely can move his legs after the battle with the adrenaline wearing off. As he is cautious to not step in deeper water or anything untoward, Zesty cropdusts the ghoul's lifeless leftovers as he makes his way up, following Wolf Order to the beds.

Eat that, shithead. It smells like rotting cabbage too.

Ur'kokk releases an oil piddle on the corpse of the ghoul for good measure, too.

Zesty finds the beds Wolf Order was leading them to, and attempts to take a short rest.

((@Ben - I want to confirm I understand short rests. We get a number of die equal to our level PER long rest, right? So, because we're level 2 we can roll up to two d8+ CON to heal in the short rest. If we use both NOW, we have no more healing die until we long rest. Is that right?))

((Yeah, you regain all hit dice on a long rest. And yes you do have 2 dice. You can use them individually or both, but yeah you only get 2 until you long rest.

((Cool. Would I be able to roll one and see what I get and then decide if I wanna roll the second? Or is the choice made up front?

Also, am I good to officially short rest then? Don't wanna jump the gun if not.))

((You'll have to make a choice up front. If you only used 1, you'd need another short rest to use the other.

And I guess if 3/5 of you want to short rest, that's majority.))

((Maybe a stupid question, but do I manually roll the dice or does DnDB do it for me when I short rest?))
((You have to roll the dice yourself, though it then adds the health in automatically. See this post just above))
((Oh, fuck. I missed a step I guess.

After you check the hit-dice boxes, you'll get an option to actually roll.

After his rest, Zesty and Ur'kokk follow the monk back down to the cargo hold.

Zesty searches for anything worth value or anything that helps solve the mystery of the Compass Rose.

Aims looks around the area where they rested.

... where'd the new pup go? Did he go check out the area already? Hmm...

And before even finishing his sentence, he's off below deck to check out some barrels and find the pup as well.

(Ben)
| As you all rise from your short rest, you walk back out of the crews quarters onto the main deck. You hear a clattering sound from somewhere towards the middle of the deck, and looking across you see a femur fall and bounce off the planks at the base of the main mast.

Your gaze tracks up to the top of the 50 foot crows nest, where a terrifying monster perches atop silhouetted against the morning sky. It spreads its scraggly wings and screeches harshly.

The wings and legs resemble those of a mangy vulture, while the head, torso and arms look almost human. It clutches a large bone like a club, pecking at the end with its sharp beak. The Harpy drops its gaze to the deck where you stand and flexes its talons.

file-ghX0o1jpyqnYjuDRBiHhooFM.png

A moment later, there is a loud thud from the forecastle on the upper deck behind you, and another loud screech echos across the water as a second Harpy lands on the ship and perches atop the broken ballista.

((Orange line is to show it's split between two "maps", since the upper deck doesn't normally show along with the main deck floor.))|

(Ben)
|The first Harpy lets out a shrill response that ends in a cackling laugh.

"Cahahaw... Prey doesn't normally CAW-come here without hearing our-our-our song first!"|

We have our own song person. You could have a rap-off.

Whoa, bird people! I've never seen one of your kind before! This is great! Can I ask a few questions? I have a notebook somewhere here in my backpack....

Aims starts rummaging through his stuff, trying to find the notebook he never actually packed when he left the inn what seems like months ago now.
