Well with the dead body someone who was initially targeted will instead have their role swapped with the dead body and they'll get the original dead body role. That's how no one real dies on the first night.

So there was definitely a second priest initially, just it was swapped into the dead body. So someone could have been told their initial role and then been swapped to a new one after the wolf kill.

Zell explained prior to the last game that the dead body gets assigned a number and role first, then the wolves select their target, then everyone else gets their roles and numbers assigned so you don't have to do any swaps.

I thought that Zell explained it's done before the non-wolf roles are assigned to actual players. So if the wolves picked 10, the numbers are distributed, number 10 is auto-assigned to dead body, and then the rest of the village gets assigned their role based on the roll.
