I've never watched it either but from what I gather, we're basically teaming up with a partner and determining geographic locations based on pictures from Alubby.
I'm pretty sure you could straight-up anagram some of the actual names and I still wouldn't be able to guess 99% of them! Pictures? Pfft~ :rofl

But yeah if someone else wants to wander around the starting position in a clown car with me I'm okay making a go of it so everyone else remains in the game longer. :tease

I don't even know how one would anagram a picture. You'd think I would know but I don't, I thought that was for word games like Scrabble and Bananagrams.

I have very little idea of what to expect but there seems to be lots of clown car teams forming - or at least, they're making it appear that way.

If I read the earlier posts in a different thread correctly, Raine and I have agreed to be either a clown car or a stripper, or both...so...that's a thing.

Unfortunate timing, CAFM. Tubby isn't going to be able to host this game, unfortunately. He has some personal life stuff going on and there's a possibility he might not come back.
I'm still here though. I'm hopefully going to have time once I come back from my next work trip (I go to Zurich next week).

No guarantees on it.

In addition to not skiing, I also won't have enough free time for something like that. My physical activity for the week will be running by the lake
Shame. If I went to Switzerland in the winter, I'd be sure to try to hit the slopes if I could.
I had to google where Zurich is and now I'm immensely jealous. Enjoy it.
Geography not your strong point?

I loved geography when I was a kid. I used to stare at maps and follow the roads to see where they went. It was like exploring new places from the comfort of your home. I liked to imagine what places were like. I still occasionally do that on Google Maps, but not as often anymore. I don't think it's as good as my mind wants Google Maps to be.

Nice, I find pictures fascinating but it's not quite the same as you.

I do really want to travel but with costs of everything and everything going on in the world, it's been a back burner idea for a while.

I'll say this: flight prices from Canada and hotel prices within Canada are insane. They're not a good representation of travel costs compared to almost anywhere else in the world. For example if you flew to Cambodia, you could comfortably live off of $30 per day.

I don't know about Cambodia, but I had a port call in Bocas del Toro, Panama 10ish years ago, and they have 4 star hotel that was less than 100 dollars (USD) a night.

Based on their website, it looks to be a bit more for their cheapest rooms, but it's still really cheap for a 4 star hotel. In comparison, 4-star hotels in the US at non-busy periods will still cost 300+.

Everything else in Bosas Del Toro was dirt cheap, too.

Don't know how cheap it is to get there. Google Flights doesn't come up with anything for me.

Interesting.

This is good to know for when it comes time to travel again because I do tend to use Canadian expenses as the measuring stick.
My one-day budget (incl hotels) in Canada is like a week-long budget in a place like Vietnam, where you'll have the best food you've ever had in your entire life for like $3.

Also I think I remember seeing it's cheaper to fly from the US to Canadian cities than it is to fly from one Canadian city to another in most cases.

Yeah I believe it, but prices have gotten better for domestic Canadian flights recently. Probably cause people there can barely afford to live, let alone travel within Canada. A flight from Halifax to Yukon only cost like $400 one-way I remember seeing. That's pretty good considering it's like half the world away

Yep, even flights and hotels within most of Europe are cheaper than the US. I used Cambodia as an example of super cheap. I'm sure Panama would be comparatively inexpensive if you didn't mind staying in sub-4-star places, too.
Other people may have stayed in hostels. I didn't like the idea of staying in a room with a bunch of people.

You can book pensions or single rooms in a hostel for cheap.

What are the best/safest places to visit that are also on the more affordable end, outside North America?
Depends on your interests. My favorites have been Vietnam and Romania. Eastern Europe is fun -- cheap, high quality, and ripe for shenanigans. Cambodia is pretty crazy too (with some very fascinating and soberingly dark history), and that country opens up the door for easy travel to Laos and Thailand.
