I mean usually the issue isn't that they're any harder to dismantle or replace, it's that your run-of-the-mill smartphone repair place shops through wholesalers dealing in Chinese manufacturer goods using the same equipment for off-brand parts. So when you walk in with something that isn't, y'know, an Apple or Samsung product they likely source from the company or eBay and add additional fees to make up for not being able to make money playing Lego-with-Apple devices for ~10 minutes. ...7 times though? JFC.

They supposedly bought an OEM part, but didn't bother to hook up the fingerprint sensor or front camera after they replaced the screen. Then they tried to pull "we didn't do anything to those things so it's not our fault" and I tried to explain "... Yeah that's the problem, you need to hook those things up when you replace the screen." Why is the fingerprint sensor part of the screen anyway?! Phone designers are all, "hey let's attach this fragile piece of glass which covers half the device to a bunch of expensive electronics lol". I'd say they should put it on the back instead, but Google in their infinite wisdom made that glass as well. LET'S MAKE AN ENTIRE HANDHELD DEVICE OUT OF SLIPPERY, FRAGILE GLASS, GUYS!

Yeah, yeah, I deserve everything I get for buying a Google phone.

I know for a fact that if they didn't get a proper OEM part, the fingerprint sensor and camera would be disabled due to some... Weird security or authentication issue. So it was most likely a cheaper part they tried to install and didn't know it fucks up the those things. Or at least that's with some of the newer iPhones. There was a whole lot of pissed off repair shops and customers thanks to that.

These posts are giving me emotional whiplash! 😂

But yeah, smart devices are... not. Samsung Galaxies are the fuckin' worst, you crack the back glass on that and it's an entire thing to not have to replace the entire body of the device. And there are so many screws, why so many skrews?! The shop I worked at eventually broke down and bought a sort of laser etcher that disintegrated it. But there are all kinds of crazy YouTube videos involving vice grips and wire lines.

Yeah, we warned customers that if they broke their Home button (before those were done away with) they'd lose all ability to have Touch ID and stuff. A surprisingly large number of people didn't care, I was shocked.

So like my entire thing this game is apparently just anti-shitposting and going off-topic in a game about being off-topic... but in a helpful way, maybe?

If you enable "Toggle BB Code" so that all the options are clickable, you can copy-paste Excel/Google Sheets cells and XenForo will automatically make simple tables to roughly match.

That would explain why their fingerprint scanner calibrator was mysteriously broken and they had to order a new part before they could fix my phone properly.

My absolute favorite thing was when they claimed they had multiple customers come in that very day to have their Google Pixels fixed so therefore they definitely know what they're doing. I don't live in a big city and almost nobody owns these ridiculous things, statistically (sorry) that's basically impossible. 😂

It has to mean something, I type it on my keyboard twice to make sure it wasn't just some weird font thing.
Unfortunately I'm powerless to check through the logs here and see whether it was always a 0 and not an O.
