It was a 2 hour drive back from the airport and we needed food. That was at a roadside BBQ place on Sturbridge that I feel like @The Eye in the Sky! Likely would have been to before: BTs Smokehouse. Really good stuff.

But yeah there's a porta potty for something construction related.
Not who you expected, but I have been to BTs Smokehouse in Sturbridge. When we drove from NYC to Boston

Best in the Northeast, rivals anything I've had elsewhere. They have a massive following, I used to go when they were just a small counter next to the gas station next to it since it is a 15 minute drive from me but I can't eat BBQ like I used to anymore. Too much fat and salt so I only get it on special occasions.

That's a good puppy.

Yeah, I figured it would be better to reserve a Somer badge for your birthday or hers or something more fitting. A porta potty is representative of the inevitable first accident in her new house.

Oh also technically a mistake in the description. It's the first photo I posted of her since we got her, but not the first of her with me in general. That one also has my wife, who wouldn't appreciate being posted in a public forum.

So… maybe I took a creative liberty or three… I was kinda drawing a blank on the description.

Somer Updates:

She's finally showing her true personality, having adjusted to living with us...and it's amazing. She's a goofball. While she's still nervous around new people, she doesn't immediately run away, and has gotten better with my wife's coworkers. There were some cute pictures of her in my wife's boss's office sitting at a chair on the other side of her desk, paw on the desk as if she were participating in a meeting and trying to join in the discussion.

We've already got her trained on both sit and down without needing treats, and we're currently working on the crate with her. This last one will be especially important because we'll be traveling cross country with her (she's small enough to be a carry-on, and American Airlines doesn't have strict weight requirements for animals, so it works out).

My favorite thing: she and I have a tradition on every walk now. It started because I wanted to try and make her excited while we went on walks, so she'd be easier to bring along. She's still a bit timid at leaving our house, but recognizes that it's needed. But now, every walk around the block involves the two of us going to the local/small park (has a softball field and a bit extra green space, not even a block away). Once we get there, she and I just run as fast as possible (well, as fast as her tiny legs will allow her) to the other side of the park. By the time we get there she's jumping all around and super happy. One time I didn't start walking that way, and she just sat there and refused to move until we started toward the park...she loves the run, and I love how happy she looks while doing it.

Aww, she sounds so cute! Glad she's adjusting and having a good time on her walks :)
You all should enjoy a picture of this goofy girl.

Also the vet described her as "chunky" so we call her our rump roast.
So cute!!

That's adorable! I bet watching her run as fast as she can on those little legs is a blast. How fortunate to have a park so close to you, too. I miss living right next to a park.

OMG, so cute!!! Nyx reminds me of my little Damien. Miss him. Your other one is absolutely adorable, as well!
Aww Damien, that's such a cute name (for a black cat I'm guessing?) - sorry you lost him.
D'aww, I wish my kitties would cuddle like that! So adorable.
We honestly got super lucky with these two. Never had kitties this cuddly.
This is Lucy. She's recently decided she likes to be under blankets, apparently.

Ah, the blanket phase. I certainly remember that from all of our cats, on or under, they LOVE their blankets!

Oh I miss him so, so much.

Love little sleepy faces on cats, so cute. This was my Paddy boy, stealing any blanket he could find.

Okay I love all animals, let's be real.
Absolutely, animals are just amazing. The feeling of a cat's purr, the joy in a dog's tail wagging, even the cute little twitch of a bunny's nose...animals are great!
Crystal, they were absolutely adorable. Losing one is the absolute worst.
Sadly they've both passed away, along with two other cats over the past few years, Mikey and Cole. It truly does hurt to lose them, they're family. Unique personalities, fun little quirks, but all loving and caring.
I lost Bengal on Christmas Day last year - miss her every day.
Oh I'm so sorry :hugs

All adorable! I'm lucky enough that I've had some amazing experiences in my life with animals - including playing with, feeding, and holding a baby tiger, a baby lion, lemurs, fennec fox and fox, wolves, and a hyena.
Oh I'd LOVE to spend time with tiger cubs and fennec foxes, so adorable!
I'm so sorry. Some people who don't have pets don't understand the bond but it's truly special and they are definitely family.
They sure are, it's one of the purest bonds in life and it hurts like hell when it's over, but I'd never trade it for the world :)
Thank you - she had a long life though, 16 years but it was still unexpected.
16 is a great life :)
Aww, I don't like all this talk of elderly kitties passing away. Mine are 15. Somehow they'll live to be 80!
Yes they will!! We'll get them little kitty knitting sets and shawls for their 60th birthdays!
This is how Jello looks at me whenever she wants something (usually it's to be petted).

Aww, cutie!
Jellloooo.
I love that name.
K happier talk. Here's cute photos of Nyx and Freyja today.

So we had Somer at puppy training yesterday. There were 3 other dogs in the class, one was tiny/cute but also needy/whiney, and the other two were your standard sized dogs. Both of them were very high energy and very happy, but they were young and accidentally set eachother off. No actual fighting but the playful barking became angry barking and lunging (but being held back). Tiny dog was pretty far away but got a bit scared and started barking from afar and cowering.

Meanwhile Somer had been sitting on the floor between us, took a look as if to say "I'm gonna sit this one out" and just decided to fully lay on the floor and sigh. Seemed like she went fully into judgy "can you believe these guys?" mode and that was great.

Have some pictures. Here she's getting using to her travel carrier. She fits perfectly fine, she's just choosing to lean against the edges in the photos I've taken (plus she's a lot smaller than her hair makes you think)

Aww, what a cutie. That's good her instinct is to avoid the fight and she doesn't get worked up.
