Somer Updates:
She's finally showing her true personality, having adjusted to living with us...and it's amazing. She's a goofball. While she's still nervous around new people, she doesn't immediately run away, and has gotten better with my wife's coworkers. There were some cute pictures of her in my wife's boss's office sitting at a chair on the other side of her desk, paw on the desk as if she were participating in a meeting and trying to join in the discussion.
We've already got her trained on both sit and down without needing treats, and we're currently working on the crate with her. This last one will be especially important because we'll be traveling cross country with her (she's small enough to be a carry-on, and American Airlines doesn't have strict weight requirements for animals, so it works out).
My favorite thing: she and I have a tradition on every walk now. It started because I wanted to try and make her excited while we went on walks, so she'd be easier to bring along. She's still a bit timid at leaving our house, but recognizes that it's needed. But now, every walk around the block involves the two of us going to the local/small park (has a softball field and a bit extra green space, not even a block away). Once we get there, she and I just run as fast as possible (well, as fast as her tiny legs will allow her) to the other side of the park. By the time we get there she's jumping all around and super happy. One time I didn't start walking that way, and she just sat there and refused to move until we started toward the park...she loves the run, and I love how happy she looks while doing it.
