Yeah, 8 years of this and it's now come to a point where you just have to put your foot down. I was very, very patient with this team, but now we've gone through 2 coaches, 2 GMs, and are on our 3rd with each. We've made trades and shuffled pieces in & out of the lineup, yet the result is the same and the same issues persist. After all that, where else can you look but the players?

This is going to fucking hurt. This is the most exciting the Leafs have ever been since I was in elementary. Our rebuild looked as if we were going to be a team to be reckoned with for years to come. The promise was there, we had the talent, but alas, it never translated into postseason success. Instead, the Leafs have been spinning their tires for the last 8 years while other teams went on to have success. It's frustrating watching them pass you by.

Tonight, we saw the sheer difference of what separates what a real contender looks like, and a team that's quite frankly nothing more than a pretender.

Whether you love the Panthers or you hate them, and believe me, I loath that team, you can't deny they have the makings of what it means to be a cup contender. They have talent, and the chemistry of a championship team. They take no prisoners, they have that killer instinct, the drive to compete, the will to win.

The Leafs, do not. They're a team that's gotten by on skill alone, but as we've seen with this team, talent will only get you so far. If you don't have that 10th gear....if you don't have the drive to compete, and you can't handle the pressure when all the chips are down, you ain't getting far. The Leafs don't possess any of those traits that are required to be a cup contender. Instead, we see this team constantly crack under pressure. We see them completely dejected when things aren't going their way, and the fact that they devolve into throwing temper tantrums and arguing among themselves says a lot about the loser mentality this group has.

After this, there's nowhere else we can logically go with this group. We've changed coaches, we cleaned the front office, and we've done
everything we could to accommodate these players & bring in help for the postseason. No matter what we did, the result was the same with the Leafs choking when it mattered most, and the players disappearing when the going gets tough. It comes to a point where you have to come to the realization that it was the core group of players that were the problem all along. The team is rotten to the core, and the only way to truly rectify this is a fundamental change in team culture. It's time to move on from this group, because it's just not working out.
