FQ Wolf GWF Wolf Vol. 1 Discussion Thread: WOLVES WIN

My day one comment on big talkers was just an offhand throwaway hunch that you both quickly latched onto. And I'm the type of person who feels the need to explain himself way too much in general, so naturally I expanded on what I said. I don't think everything is so black and white that I have to be 100% on every little remark I make, especially on Day 1 in a game with no roles.

As for my experience level, I surprised myself if I'm being honest. My self-confidence in wolf games is based on my experience as a dumb teenager who was scared of all the big boys in old mafia games. But now I'm more of an adult and my approach to the game is apparently more confident.

As for being "all over the place" I think I've been pretty clear about my reasoning for most of my votes. I wanted to make sure people understood my position and didn't think I was just tossing out random names. In the Warp Shortkut vote I was voting to make a tie because I really didn't care which died. They were both at the top of my list, and I saw that if I voted that way I could use the opportunity to glean information from whoever voted next.

Tentative vote for Cole. I'm running late for work but I'll check in later and change it if necessary.

so your response to being suspected is to vote back at me with no explanation?

suspicion increasing.

I have to say, I agree. Flame, you say you’ve been wanting to make sure that people understand why you’re voting and that it’s not random? But then you do the exact opposite of that at the end of your post. I’m all for voting for Cole, He’s been one of my top three suspects since day two, but I’m interested to hear what your reasoning is if you have any. Otherwise, it does seem kind of sus.

also saying you "don't care who dies", but giving shortkut a chance to save himself is counter intuitive. this is the same thing that made Vash look *so* guilty. If you don't care which dies, why give one a chance to save himself over the other? THAT seems like you were positioning it for a reason.

28 pages later and as of now I'm leaning heavy towards The Flame. Cole laid it down very well, which I appreciate because Jesus that was a lot to read, and so far today Flames posts today have felt very back-pedaly and his reasons for his suspicions sound very open-ended. I remember him being around a lot in the before times, and I /do/ think he's smart enough to try to get a no-kill night in a game with no roles and keep us at square one another day.

canadaguy has my attention too, but I'll be the first to admit that I have almost nothing to base it on other than his vote for Cole today, because of Coles dedication to the town and piecing together what's been said between the lines.

And then there's Cole. Being the most helpful/analytic can go a long way in keeping a target off your back, and he seems the type to be smart enough to know that and play into it. That said, the chances of him getting my vote are slim to none unless something blatant happens. But if he's bad, holy SHIT my guy well played.

On a more serious note though: I have this little theory. I suspect that AT LEAST ONE of the wolves is a really smart or experienced wolf player. Coleman, canadaguy, and Zell are the ones that remain. If all three or even just two of them are wolves, we’re probably screwed. However if we’re lucky, it’s just one, and the other two wolves have just been following their lead and going along with the masters plan. Figuring out who the Big Guy is and mounting a successful bandwagon on them at this juncture is probably almost nil on the odds, but if we can figure out the two cronies then maybe we still have a shot.

So I’ve gone back and checked Flame’s voting record in the game and how it lines up with the Big Three because he seems sus AF to me after that last comment that he hasn’t come back and answered for yet, and with the exception of Day 2, he and canadaguy have voted the same every round.

So unless some other more compelling reason comes up, I’m leaning towards switching my vote to Flame.

I knew this was coming as soon as I hit send. But I really was running late for work and wasn't sure if I was going to have time to both check the thread and make a good post again. I'm going to be at work when the day closes and I wanted to make sure I at least got a vote in beforehand. I was hoping people would take note of the fact that I already talked about why I was suspicious of you as well as others, but here we are. The reason I said tentative was because I legitimately didn't want to make such an early decision, but not many more people had shown up to speak yet at the time.

I don't think it's really "saving" shortkut at the time I made my vote. Kut had already said he was going to make a self preservation vote and I knew someone else (Ants I think?) still had a vote to cast. Sure it could've made it harder, but there were plenty of people who could've changed their vote last minute as well. It was still early in the game and so my confidence towards either candidate wasn't high, and I saw that decision as a way of not having to be the late-coming nail in the coffin vote.

but it IS saving him? why did you make it harder? why did it matter which you voted for if you were roughly equally suspicious of both?

vash at least admitted to having a brain fart moment when he did it.

why change at all, it's very suspicious, like it's a set plan.

maybe YOURE writing the plan that Ants keeps reading from.

I am officially voting The Flame

I'm not 100% sold, but my suspicioj is rising and it looks like the best chance to save the game.

I looked for the old school GW version of the lifting eyebrow and couldn’t find it, but I did discover these two that I never saw before. Are these new? Lmao :bandwagon:schteve:
The Bandwagon one was there for a while. Never seen the other one.

It is odd that the raising eyebrow smiley is missing.

I mean I literally said at the time I wanted to glean more info based on how the next person voted. We were desperate for any information after the goofy shit the wolves pulled. But I guess I'm the asshole for trying to stir shit up like you do. But hey I'm a townie who had no way of knowing they'd both be innocent, so I guess that's my bad. Sorry for saving an innocent man lmao.

This is the last post I can make before we close and anymore I say is probably just going to make me look even worse, so I assume this'll probably be a GG. Well played everyone!

no, it's not you stirring shit up that's the problem. it's a matter of your vote potentially saving a life of someone you claim is your suspect.

...and also your snap response vote of me just because I named you?

that feel a guilty yo me. there's a reason I don't suspect people that vote for me

The Flame: 5 (God., Cole, Fool's Requiem, Ants!, Zell 17)
Cole: 2 (canadaguy, The Flame)
Ants!: 1 (Raposa)

This was it. If The Flame wasn't a wolf, it was all over. Everyone waited on the execution with bated breath. Was The Flame simply an innocent scribe, the role he had filled during his entire time in Gold Whiskers? Or was he secretly one of the pack of werewolves that had been terrorizing this poor mining town?

No one knew this would be the last day Gold Whiskers existed.

The Flame's execution was anti-climactic. If anything, it was just as everyone expected. Of course he was a Townie. Of course the executioner's revolver remained unused. She was the only one with the sense to leave town in the dead of night. Everyone else was too shellshocked to do anything. Indeed, when the wolves came to her door, she was already gone. No matter.

Zell 17 was the last to vote, but he was the first to die once night fell. Raposa was next, then God and canadaguy.

The wolves had won. Not only that, they had managed to escape without losing a single one of their pack. They were at full strength and emboldened to destroy the next town in their path.

No one was alive to hear it anymore, but Cole, Fool's Requiem, and Ants! let out one last triumphant howl. It echoed through the night, and the stories they would tell about the horrors that happened to neighboring villages always started with that howl.

END OF DAY PHASE 5, END OF GAME--THREAD IS NOW OPEN FOR DISCUSSION

Cole was the only one I was certain of. He's why I voted for Zell, trying to suss out an accomplice. Only to have Cole immediately come for me. :tease

Wouldn't have really guessed Fool; Ants was, and still is, a relative unknown quantity for me. Not really sure Power Roles would've helped much here, ultimately.

I was secretly hoping Ants and Cole would get lynched, just to see how long I could last undetected.

Cole did all the heavy lifting.

The initial plan was to have Cole start accusing me and then me going on the defensive. But then sbortkut insta voted for Ants and the plans changed.

Cole chose to attempt to make this first game back as memorable as possible. Every action taken I was mostly opposed to, because I felt early moves were too risky and later moves too safe. I would have killed off Isoor, God, or Raposa early, left Vash until the end, would have killed off canadaguy in the later rounds and let Jawneh, shortkut, Cole, and Zell get lynched.

I fully expect to be wolf food really early next game. Just like the last time I played wolf. Make it to the end, in one game, then get instakilled the next.

@Cole was super obvious, he just wasn’t being himself
- being adamant that voting @Ants! was a bad idea and then tripling down on it
- consistently going “oh no! I’m so confused”
- and “why would the wolves do that, I am… I mean… they are sooo smart… or maybe dumb I don’t know!”

@Ants! wasn't being himself either. It was clear he was a wolf but not as blatant as Cole was. Towards the end the way he was agreeing and disagreeing seemed insincere

I suspected @Jawneh due to how he was interacting with Cole. The disagreement seemed forced

I had a bonus guess for @canadaguy because I thought the not killing night one was something he would do to be funny if he was the mastermind, but afterwards I didn’t feel as sure so he dropped to 4th in my suspect list

Well, I suspected 1/3 wolves right and the one being Cole. Sadly, other than Cole being Cole, there wasn't really anything I saw that I could turn on him as he was technically being helpful when everyone was kind of lost? I kind of was thinking of hard pushing him as the last wolf or during a day where we had to get a wolf to see if he was one. But i died before that was the case so welp. Fool I had nothing on and Ants.... maybe I subconsciously picked something up and my weird fuck up was actually what I wanted, but I honestly got no clue what went on. I thought Raposa and canadaguy were the other two.

Wow, a very interesting outcome! Both Ants! and Cole were big red flags for me, although I haven't played with FR enough to gauge his playstyle enough, over the years. Nice going with the clean win there, wolves

I think I mentioned Cole on day 2 then stopped mentioning him so he wouldn’t kill me
incorrect #1 and I have the DMs to prove it. in every wolf game I've ever played as wolf. I always strive to keep the best players alive, the ones that suspect me the most. that's you. I would have left you alive until the end regardless.

I appreciate the credit, but it was all of us. you flew entirely undetected the entire game, and that alone is huge. if I was too obvious and ants got lynched along the way, your undetection still gets us the win. you were a contributor to the plan more than ants was.

incorrect #2: day 1 voting at random is the stupidest fucking play you can make as a civilian. it literally only makes sense as a wolf. you are killing completely at random with a fraction of a chance to be right. I would've had the same exact day with you if we were both civis.
It’s just not his personality…. It was a little too “the lady doth protest too much”
you really forget other games with me don't you? my whole gimmick was overwhelming numbers of "protest".

i was shocked that over the course of the entire game only two people voted for Cole and one of them was a wolf
this is so many people saying they knew all along I was a wolf but didn't once actually bring it up enough or try to get me lynched. 2 throw away votes. one by flame in self defense, and the other one I forget who but admitted it was a vote to "not influence the vote".

lots of people with some solid hindsight here.

I personally didn't want you gone till as late as possible since you make nearly every game entertaining and fun. Many others do too but especially you. Inlike winning, but I prefer fun and entertainment.

also, after the first time there was night kill, FQ didn't announce what the role was of the person that died. at the time, I did NOT realizing he was updating the first post with that information.

in desire to keep this game exciting, I was going to have the wolves kill me the next night. it would've been so amusing.

I agree. Hindsight messes with your head easily. I think I said it that I had really nothing concrete on you than a couple things that made me consider you as a wolf. One of the things i did only figure out after I had died. Sadly, I will not disclose it just in case you do the same later on and I can pick it up again. And im def not trying to take anything away from you, Fool and Ants for playing great. I still lost and whatever I say beyond that can be counted as a sore loser. :bow

Yeah I know it wasn't stirring shit up in the same sense, sometimes I just be sayin shit if I'm under enough pressure. Didn't look like we were going to win anyways, but I definitely should've just voted last night and been done with it. I was really trying to get us a good comeback moment, but with how little time I had to put together posts today it quickly became a Coleman moment instead. I can only think clearly if I have a lot of time to proofread my shit.

Fools Requiem is definitely the one that surprised me the most. I thought for sure he was the cleanest man here. I was starting to second-guess myself about canadaguy today because I knew he was capable of some shenanigans, but I don't even remember how FR played these games. :clapping. Cole is always easy to be leery of but I thought we might've had him on our side until a couple days in. And Ants I was constantly flip-flopping on.

it's fine man, I always act suspicious. it's part of my game plan even as a civilian. I always want people to think I might be a wolf, but this is just a lot of people saying "I knew all along 100%"

oh one last thing for the night, I was so excited when I thought to abstain the first night kill. FQ was hesitant because "it's not in the rules" but I said "it doesn't say we CAN'T do that either" she agreed.

but I pitched it to ants and fool as "this is probably really risky and they're gonna think I did it, but it will create so much chaos it'll be fun along the way" and all the reactions immediately were like "wtf?!" I was so glad it worked. I wanted the first game back to be fun for spectators. and according to @A Loo , it was.
