Honestly, having learned just how dumb, ignorant, and sheep-like people were centuries ago helps me feel more confident that just because we have so many stupid people out there, it doesn't necessarily mean that our species is doomed.

I recently learned that people in the during the 17th and 18th centuries didn't bath because it was generally accepted that you would get syphilis from bathing, completely ignoring the fact that the syphilis outbreak occurring at the time was because people shared bath water with other people infected with syphilis.

My wife has a good opinion on how people should treat their religions. She says they should follow “the penis rules”

including their own. My brother is big on doing that. Any time you say anything contrary to what religion says around his kids, he'll be quick to point out that you're wrong, and he is ALWAYS "right." Literally the only thing I don't like about him. They started home schooling their kids when COVID hit and I don't have much hope for their futures. Their oldest wants to be a Marine Biologist and I don't know how she can do that without believing in evolution.

I’m not a fan of organized religion to begin with, and this is probably one of my bigger issues with it. The biggest, being the exploitation and abuse of children, but that’s not something you can pin on any one religion over the others. Christianity and the branches from it have a weird grip on people, and most of the people I know are just like that… their way or no way.
