for West Coast you gotta go PNW. But west coast varieties aren't as good for ciders (cider apples aren't good for eating). Seattle has some good ones, and there are one or two decent brands I've tried in SoCal.

All the Portland ciders you can find everywhere here are garbage IMO..I like Seattle Cider Co and I've had a couple other Seattle ciders which I liked.

That's good to know about the apples though. I always wondered how Portland cider managed to be so bad.

Yeah it's an odd thing to think about, but the best eating apples typically aren't great for making hard cider and vice versa.
