In this game, you aren't voting to lynch anyone, you're voting to send them to jail. The person jailed is not immediately removed from the game, but instead is "put on trial" during the next day phase. Once jailed, they cannot use any special abilities until released from jail (be that by early release or being found Innocent). However, when on trial, you can feel free to role claim as much as you want to try and save your bacon. Otherwise, I ask that you refrain from any role claiming. Hinting, however, is allowed.

The minimum amount of votes to arrest a player will be roughly the number of citizens / 2.

A handful of players will be chosen at random as the Jury for each trial and they will decide if the player is Guilty or Innocent. Guilty players are killed and removed from the game. Jury Verdicts are decided by simple majority.

During each day phase you will also be concurrently deciding the next player to arrest (keep an eye on those juries).

~~~~~~~~~~
In this game there are 4 special Citizen roles, chosen from the following:
Citizens:
Lawyer: Once per game can release a Defendant from Jail, by contacting the Governor via DM.
Gumshoe: Each night, can investigate a player, discovering their role.
Good Cop: Once per game, at night, can arrest a player to be put on trial the next day.
Vigilante: Each night, can execute a player.
Judge: Once per game, during a trial, can either release a player or condemn them to death.
In this game there are 4 Mobsters, chosen from the following:
The Mafia:
The Don: Can only be killed by being found Guilty at Trial. There will always be a Don in the game.
The Consigliere: Each night can investigate a player, discovering their role.
The Cleaner: Twice per game can prevent deceased player roles from being revealed to the City at daybreak. The Cleaner will still learn these roles.
The Button Man: Once per game, at night, can kill a player at night, in addition to the normal mob kill.
Mob Lawyer: Once per game can release a Defendant from Jail, by contacting the Governor via DM.
In this game there MAY OR MAY NOT be a Dirty Cop:
Solo Player:
Dirty Cop: Once per game, at night, can arrest a player to be put on trial the next day. Once per game, at night, can kill a player. If they make it to the end of the game without being discovered, they win. If discovered by the Consigliere, joins the Mob and wins/loses with them. If discovered by the Gumshoe, cleans up his act and becomes a Good Cop and wins/loses with the Citizens.
The Lounge Singer
Katherine L'Orange had a beautiful voice. Anyone who heard her at the Gold Wing Lounge would say that her voice would haunt them the rest of their days. But tonight, anyone who came to hear her sing would be sorely disappointed, as she was a no-show, much to the chagrin of the fine upstanding businessmen that ran this particular establishment.
"I'll be fine, Red. I'll make em an offer they can't refuse," he had said. That was the last time Katherine had heard the voice of her pianist partner, Thomas Priestley. He smiled that boyish smile at her one last time, then headed out the door to go meet with the bosses about getting them out of their contracts. She was worried, but she had always suspected there might be more to ol' Tommy Boy than he let on. She never knew what he was getting up to late at night, after their shows, but there were hints and rumors he might run with a rough crowd. Maybe he COULD handle himself. Maybe they could get themselves out of the city before it was too late.
But that was days ago. Before they found his body. Tonight she sits outside of a rundown brownstone walk-up, waiting impatiently for a meeting that was supposed to take place an hour ago at a bar two blocks away. She had hired a private dick to look into Tommy's death, as the cops were no help. She didn't know who else to turn to. She had a fleeting thought of calling up her old flame, a self-proclaimed "reformed" thug for the Kelly gang (before the mob moved in and took over that little Irish outfit). She hadn't heard from him since they got into a row a couple days back and he gave her a smack so hard her brain didn't work right for a couple hours. Instead, she pulled her handbag in tight to her body, making sure she could still feel the reassuring weight of the .22 she snuck out of his closet after that little incident.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, a car slowly approached from down the street. The headlights flick off as the car slows and comes to a halt not too far from her. She rises from the stoop, her anger rising with her as the door swings open, "You've got a lot of nerve, standing me up!" Only then does she realize...this is not the person she was supposed to meet. As the faint smell of bleach hits her nostrils, she reaches into her handbag for a witty retort. But it was too late.
Katherine L'Orange had a beautiful voice. Anyone within earshot who heard her final note that night would say that her voice would haunt them the rest of their nights.
Kat has been murdered by the mob. She was a citizen.
As the sun rises over the City, news hits the streets. Literally, as newspapers are flung against doors and walls and (if the Paperboy is aiming for extra points) directly into newspaper boxes.
The headline reads: "THIRD BODY FOUND! CITY IN TRIPLE DANGER!
Today, TD is on trial.
Lounge singer doesn't appear to be a role here. Did Kat have one? Did I miss it during the call out to both Tommy Boy being a priest and Kelly apparently having former gang connections?
I don't know what you're talking about and I definitely didn't edit that post just now.
Alright, there are so many thoughts to go through here.
for one, please spare me the "Cole isnt dead he must be one of them" conversations. Its the oldest setup in the book. ALSO FUN FACT: shortkut routinely says he likes to keep me Alive in these games when he's an evil to make it more of a challenge. The last game he was evil and I was town, I was seer checked and they didnt want the role in the game, so they killed me. maybe this is him trying to let me stay Alive, especially in a game where the mafia has the Advantage, maybe he's sporting enough to let me try.
for two, the wolves killing Kat After there was at least a little suspicion on her (myself and Local), is a silly move. if they did it as strategy (like we did in FQs first game), fine, but for any other reason it's silly. never kill people that have suspicion on them, of any kind, Always kill the ones no ones even looking at.
for three, seems like Vash *DID* decide to announce who kills who. Which is good, it's better, there was too little information if we don't know who did the doin.
which brings me to the crucial part, I don't promise this will narrow anything down *today*, but its to keep the conversation in mind, because it's important.
there are 4 roles that can kill in this game.
mob as a whole, 1 kill per night.
button man, 1 kill per game.
vigilante, 1 kill per night.
bad cop, 1 kill per game.
night 0 there were 2 kills, and we don't know who did what. obviously we are to assume one of those kills was the mob as a collective. but the question of who did the other one is *VERY* important, as we can determine who has bullets left, and what information we might be able to glean from that.
if it was the button man, I personally would consider it to be a bad strategic move. taking a random shot at a number when there are only 4 potential good guy roles in the town, when you could save it and put down a townie with a role, is beyond me. I can't see the benefit in that. But if it happened, that's good news. We don't know who he got, and maybe he did get lucky. but we will have a better idea of how many kills we have to worry about each night.
if it was the vigilante, it would have to be a pretty iffy player to be a member of the TOWN and take a random shot on night 0 when the chances are high you'll hit a townie and hurt our chances. I don't think there are any bad players *IN* this game, so I find it unlikely the vigilante took a random 4 out of 14 shot.
if it was the bad cop, this to me is the most plausible. the bad cop has 3 win conditions. solo, with the town if hes found by the good guys, and with the wolves if he's found by the bad guys. in theory, he could choose the way he most wants to win. if he wants to win with the town, he wouldn't take a random shot. chances are high that hits a townie. if he wants to win as WOLF, maybe he takes the shot. he has a higher chance of hitting a townie, so maybe he risks it. but if his intention is to win solo, why not take the random shot? he has no allies, no matter how many times the gumshoe calls,, no matter how Aluring is The Consigliere. one less person to get through, and the potential to hit one of the seers which otherwise he'd likely have no information about. why not take the shot?
I have a feeling we have a bad cop. and if we do, he's out of ammo. that role doesn't feel like it "ends" the game like the Fool does. it feels like a simultaneous win condition if no one finds him. IF I AM RIGHT the threat of the bad cop is effectively gone. If he just randomly puts someone on trial, I mean... we deal with it the same way we are with TD today, we always assume innocence when someones on trial.
And lastly, maybe I'm a dick, but if I am wrong about trying to figure out who pulled the trigger, then there's some real questionable moves being made. guess the terminology change from wolf to mafia was that confusing to people.
...okay, I am a Dick.
Episode 4 Hello GIF by The Simpsons
I'm still at work, but I'll say this for now:
a) I initially said I will respond exclusively with Simpsons gifs, as fun as that would be, it won't help, so they'll still be there but I will also talk
b) Ask me anything about anything or anyone and I will respond
I would first like Cole to expound on why he found Kat suspicious when I said she was the least suspicious person here. And explain why he is still alive if he is so certain he’s important enough to be targeted by the mob.
Then I’ll hear TD tell us whatever he wanted to say
oh my mistake. I didn't realize I had to answer to you, and follow your list of suspects. I'll do better.
Ask me anything about anything or anyone and I will respond
okay, what's your role?
When I’m evil I like knowing who you are as early as possible. If you’re a threat like gunner or seer, then sorry, you got to go. If you’re doctor or something that isn’t a threat to me, you can stay as long as you like. We have cookies at the front desk
homer simpson jail GIF
Hey @TD you wanted to be on the stand I assume for a reason. Is there something you want to share?
I was up all night in my prison cell with a shiv carving into the wall an intricate diagram of names, connecting lines, and webs as I try to untangle this mess. I have made some progress and that I will share with a thorough suspicion ranking of everyone.
okay, what's your role?
I am nothing more but a simple citizen who must rely on intuition.
Are you suggesting you are a cop?
I wish I was a cop. I was more suggesting that I love donuts and was attempting to bribe the jury with donuts. I realize now my Simpsons GIF plan may already have flaws.
Unless you know for a fact that someone is innocent by either having the one seer check or by being mafia - there is no foolproof way of eliminating suspicion. Being suspicious of someone because they were suspicious of someone that you did not find suspicious is in fact, suspicious.
Your second point? Cole could be mafia. Cole could've been their seer target last night. Cole could be a citizen. They could also be leaving Cole alive solely to make it suspicious that he is alive. Nothing can be ruled out.
Anyways I’m voting Cole to be put in the stand tomorrow. If he’s some big super secret role that would make him a target of the mafia then we can protect him and find out what he knows while on stand.
I’m still not sold on you. I’d rather put you on trial and find out your thoughts.
Voting zell for trial
Yeah no doubt here but his top two suspects were so obviously citizens that it makes one scratch their head.
you know, it's funny you say that!
this whole "I'm just a righteous normal citizen here to uphold the law" strategy you're running is so forced. you keep saying how important lying is in this game, so I think you're under the impression if you say "I AM A TOWN MEMBER" in half of your posts we'll definitely believe it.
you can put me on trial all you like, but we both seem to agree the 2nd kill night 0 was bad cop, which means the only person I have to fear killing me tonight is you.
but things have been tense between us lately. and maybe you're using that to try and make me look "worse" at the game by getting me convicted.
not to mention, who was it that said "even if he's a townie I'm voting to convict." does it get much more blatant than that.
i vote for Zell 17 with reasonable suspicion.
For what it’s worth I think it’s like 60% that Cole is a citizen. But the vote to put him on stand is threefold:
If he’s mafia, it’s a step closer to getting a bad guy.
If he’s NOT mafia but important like he claims, it gives him an opportunity to tell is everything he knows free of game restrictions.
If he’s NOT mafia and gets convicted, the jury is a short list of potential targets to take out.
I think there is next to no chance that the night 0 kill was bad cop BTW.
Also, Cole implicated someone in his post but you completely ignored it. Doubling down on zell vote
He implicated Kat earlier as well. That’s why I want to put him on stand: it’s put up or shut up. Either you actually KNOW something, or you are flying blind like the rest of us and we can treat the suspicions accordingly.
When cole says someone is suspicious, he doesn’t always mean it and you know it. Harping on the fact that kat was innocent doesn’t prove anything. You’re like one of those wavy-arm guys outside a car dealership trying to shout “I’m not suspicious”
@TD - trial question: what are your thoughts on zell?
