It's very possible that he isn't. I think I stated this possibility in the beginning of day three. The mafia could have decided to all do each other's tells, or at the very least have multiple members doing animal tells. Even without the clue reveal, the animal tells would have been the easiest one to pick up on, so doing it this way give Zell some credibility if you genuinely didn't meet the requirement day three.

Part of my reasoning behind allowing Tell requirements to be fulfilled via quote is that you can literally edit quotes to say whatever you want. You have total control of what you post, including quotes.

In a Wolf game the question was raised as to whether someone claiming Medium was photoshopping fake quotes from the Dead Thread.

I have a hard time reconciling that being acceptable and not allowing Quotes to be a hiding place for Tells.

A Citizen dead-set on killing a Citizen they are SO SURE is Mafia.

Another Citizen about to kill themselves for a Mobster they are SO SURE is a Citizen.

This is the exact insane level of trust/distrust I want out of these games.

I think of it in terms of spoken conversation. People aren't "saying" a quote. Meanwhile someone can pretend to be a Medium and provide false information via what they directly post in their own "voice".

I think the rules are too restrictive and Vash should actually allow for some of the tells we were denied! People just weren't thinking properly, having them whenever in the future would be good.

And talented gangsters with "tells" would be talented cause they are good at hiding tells.
