My local Taco Bell has gotten stupidly bad. Like, the food is still fine, but the wait times for drive through is literally around half an hour. They started pushing people through the line, taking orders and money, but then pushing them to the side to wait for the rest of the time.

Pisses me off. So much that I actually complained to corporate about them.

It's funny to me how conservatives don't realize how much they're making our point for us about the minimum wage issue when they complain about these things. They mention how poor the service and the attitudes are at their fast food places and say see, why should I pay that guy more if this is how he works? Then they point to Chick-fil-a as a perfectly run establishment with great service and cheerful, professional, helpful staff, and how quickly you're in-and-out even during a lunch rush.

It's like yeah, that's true, now go look up what their starting wage is, and also look around and notice how they are never understaffed. That's the difference. Now make it so those other places have similar work conditions instead of fighting against it.

My old boss used to say things like that. I always wanted to point out to her that NOBODY "wants" to work, including her, and I could prove it. Then I would ask if she would still be here if this place never made any money for her.

But I just kept things to myself because there's no point arguing with some people.

It really has turned into minimum wage jobs being for teenagers only. Everyone else wants and often also needs more just to exist. Yet, many of the jobs tends to expect a lot more than a minimum wage amount of work from them.

I got lucky with my current job even if I'm working as a temp. Great hourly wage and the work really isn't difficult at all. A union also keeps people from showing extra work for me or anyone else in my dept. To the point that some days I wish they'd allow me to go elsewhere to work more.

That's the weird thing about more technical factory work I guess. Gotta have some probable experience in your thing before even getting considered. Like I could see an avg high school grad learning to do my job within a month and from there polishing the rest of the knowledge either just on the job or also at home. But whatever companies want I guess. I cant really complain too much since I got the job.

... though we're short like 4 people or something. 5 after next week lol. Great managers at this place.

I remember seeing this Mad TV bit where a sexy spanish guy had to go work in a taco bell and he was getting offended at dishes like a taco-rito (a taco inside of a burrito, apparently), and he went on this big long rant, and when he was done the DGAF black lady training him said "listen, I'd make a burrito with my feet. And I have."
