It might be different for different areas, but it's likely you don't actually have to pay those since they weren't written out and handed to you by a cop. I ignored one I got years ago in the mail and there's not even a bench warrant on me. I even called the number on the letter asking what happens if I don't pay and the lady straight up said nothing except that it'll go on my credit report. I was like oh okay fine! My credit (at the time) is fucked anyway.

But it turns out even that was a bluff because when I eventually worked on fixing my credit, that was nowhere on my credit report.
Yeah, in England that's not a thing at all. Unless there was a procedural error or some other loophole you have to pay. Or thanks to Crazy Jamie's parents, take a speed awareness course.

Oh right. I forgot other countries existed.

Sorry, it's an American thing.

Cops here are too busy trying to generate money for their department to actually try to stop crime. Not unless it's got a good price tag on it (egregious speeding) or if they'll be able to stick you in a prison to stamp license plates.

Lol, silly England with your quaint bobbies in high visibility clothing/cars trying to protect people.

It was a fixed camera. No need for actual police work.

That's even worse. In my state, we have to be going 12mph (19km/h-ish if y'all don't have those fancy speedometers that show both units) over the speed limit to trip the sensors to snap a photo. I'd imagine that somewhere, they crash into childlike dummies to figure out where to ticket and balance out the potential for loss of life.

My son made me buy a box of plastic forks because he thought up some kind of craft to make with them. Then when we got home and he tried it he got frustrated because it wasn't working out how he imagined I guess. Then later he approached me with a bunch of the forks in a different box and holding a sign he made and asked me to come outside and help him sell some forks. I'm like they're more likely to give you money for that than they would for me, you gotta go out there and wave your little sign and yell forks for sale. He was like I already tried that and nobody's buying any. I said I wasn't doing it and he asked why, and I said because nobody's going to give us money for plastic forks and it would be embarrassing to try. Then I heard him crying in the other room and I went and talked to him and asked why does he want to sell forks so badly. He said he wants to make some money so he can buy a toy. I'm like oh lord son let's skip all those steps and I'll just buy you a toy, just please don't make me make a fool of myself and make me go try to sell plastic forks to all the neighbors 😂

Put a fork in you, you're done. He got you with the long con. He knew you wouldn't be game for some backstreet fork hustling, so, he posed the request to you knowing you'd fold and just buy him the toy.
