You played as the dinosaurs, and you had to collect all your eggs to prevent the cavemen (the titular Trogs) from eating them. I plays similar to Pac Man in that sense. The cavemen would create inventions to make it harder (fire, the wheel etc)

You can also transform into a Trex and eat the Trogs

Ohhh is it Dino Crisis
I'm not feeling pedantic enough to make you be more specific, as you got the right franchise.

It is Dino Crisis 2!

Regina from the first one is still a playable character in this, but they added a second dude too. Regina is just very recognizable so I thought she'd make it way too easy.

Resident Evil but with dinosaurs was gold in my opinion. Too bad they screwed up Dino Crisis 3 by doing weird slug dinosaurs in space...

I don't remember if I had Dino Crisis 1 or 2, but boy did I grind through that game. I don't remember what kind of system there was for scoring and replayability, but I vaguely remember 100%ing that pitch. Fun times.

I know it had some combo system for points. And I think I recall you'd use the points to buy weapons, and I think there were some powerful ones unlocked after beating it the first time.

They took biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig liberties with the Giganotosaurus in that game.

Forgot I'm supposed to post a screenshot now.

Gonna share another couple screenshots of this one. Apparently the Genesis/SNES release had an entirely different title and UI than what I knew on the Amiga, so... Maybe that'll help any?

Looks like the Genesis/SNES version might have been out first actually. That's on Mobygames as a 1993 release with the Amiga version in 1994...

Alright, I don't think anyone's going to get it even with googling, so I'll just give it up and whoever posts first can take the next turn.

The game was The Chaos Engine, or apparently in the US, "Soldiers of Fortune".

The Chaos Engine is a top-down run and gun video game developed by The Bitmap Brothers and published by Renegade Software in March 1993. The game is set in a steampunk Victorian age in which one or two players must battle the hostile creations of the eponymous Chaos Engine across four landscapes and ultimately defeat it and its deranged inventor.

It was first released for the Amiga, with a version available for AGA Amigas, and later ported to MS-DOS, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Atari ST, Amiga CD32, RISC OS and Mega Drive. In the Super NES and Mega Drive versions, the Preacher character was renamed as the Scientist and redesigned to remove his clerical collar. The US versions of these two ports were retitled Soldiers of Fortune. A sequel to the game, The Chaos Engine 2, was released in 1996.

never has there been a more Link to the Past ass looking non-Link to the Past game than whatever this is

I feel like I've seen this kid and his dog.

I bet I could find it in a video from Austin Eruption...

But you get an animal companion

It's a solid game in its own right but it definitely inspired heavily by Lttp

Oh shit I know what it is actually

Crusader of Centy

I owned this game at one point but sold it off without playing it. I'm trying to track down another copy, but goddamn.
I was so close to finding it, but I'm glad someone actually new the name without scouring through 40 minute videos.
