There was an NES game that was initially intended to be a Terminator game, but license expired before it got released, so the dev/publisher chose to make some alterations and release it with a different name.

I think it was called Alien Syndrome.

Edit: Nope, Alien Syndrome was a Sega game that also got a release on the NES (via Tengen). Not the game I'm thinking of and not the answer here either.

Actually, I should clarify that Alien Soldier was also released in PAL, and was released in the US only as a Sega Channel limited-time offering. The JP version of the game is just more expensive than the PAL version because who wants to play vidya with a PAL refresh rate?

It's impossibly unforgiving! You don't know which level to start on! The bosses are bullshit! Until you realize that there are SECRET SUPER SUITS in each level that sort of trivialize subsequent levels and bosses.

Most people like the first game a lot more since it's more approachable and forgiving.

If you have the POWER, maybe you can figure out the name of this game.
