This looks weirdly familiar, but the numbers are throwing me off. I think despite the familiarity, I've never actually seen this game before?

I'm guessing it's an Action RPG for SNES/Genesis.

Or maybe...... Symphony of the Night?

Nope.

The screenshot is from the arcade version of the game. There are versions of this on Amiga, Atari, c64, nes, and at least one Sega console.

I'll also give one extra thing. This is a run and gun.

HERE, TAKE: GAME.

(Nerd note: this is a good example of NES palette limitations. The coastline uses black + blue + brown + green. There's no appropriate colors left over for the waves in that palette, so they just reused the green for the waves. Strangely, there was probably enough space for another palette separate for just the ocean + waves, since, at first glance, it doesn't look like many palettes were used to make everything on screen... I count 6 out of a total possible 7)

I didn't even know this was a game, but I Googled "PS2 Castlevanias" and the HUD seemed to match up. How is the game? I know 3D Castlevanias typically get a bed rep

I enjoy it. Its definitely a product of its era but I liked how it expanded on the lore of Castlevania and wasn't just another Belmont vs Dracula story, and was instead another story set in that same world.

There are two Flintstones games on the NES from Taito, I don't recall if either had an overworld map and I don't remember the titles off the top of my head.

One of them is one of the most expensive games on the NES because its a license title that game out well into the SNES' lifespan meaning few copies were even sold at the time, unlike the first game.

Flintstones: Barney fucks Fred's wife

I'd have to look up the names. I don't think I ever played either.

Eh, close enough. You two can fight about who goes next.

FTR it's that one, the expensive one. Surprise at Dinosaur Peak. It's a pretty competent platformer (albeit with a few flaws), and the last level is an insane, challenging gauntlet where the difficulty ramps up a ton over the rest of the game.

The game is so rare that there were rumors for many years that it was a Blockbuster exclusive, but there were copies sold in other stores (but not many). The last CIB sale tracked on Pricecharting is from late 2024.

I never would've gotten this and I 100%'d MGSV. I've never actually seen the chicken hat in use.
I ended up upping the difficulty for one of my runs and ended up getting it for some annoying level. I think it was against some tanks and I only had a shitty rocket launcher and C4 available. Took me forever to finish and I failed even with the hat. I think it took like 2-3 hours for me to beat that one lol.

If it's the one I am thinking of, that's a super difficult level at the start of the game where you don't even have the right equipment or understanding of the game's systems to know how to beat it properly haha
