Save fix patch incoming.
đź‘€

PlayStation 5 Save Rollback Issue

This patch also includes a fix for the PS5 Save Rollback Issue that was preventing players from progressing their explorations of Mount Holly.

This issue was caused by a duplication of save data causing new save information to time out and not be saved. This problem has now been addressed and players should have no issues progressing and saving the game past the point where the bug was initially encountered.

We have worked tirelessly with Sony to avoid any save files being lost once the game patches. However, content that was not saved during the Rollback Issue has unfortunately been lost. Players should be able to return to Mount Holly at the point where they encountered the bug.

Oooh some QoL stuff too.
Boat Ride cinematics can now be once again skipped (this had been disabled because of a soft lock that has also now been fixed.)

Lever pull cinematics can now be skipped.

Safes now remain open on subsequent days after unlocking them.

Water: The experiment that "lowers water" will now be replaced with an experiment variation that "raises water" if there is not currently any water to lower.

Oh those spicy fucks fixed the experiment.
The experiment "Each time you view your map, lose 10 steps and then" has been changed to "The next 10 times you view your map, lose 10 steps and then".

And:

The Path to 1.10

It had always been my dream to release a definitive version of the game at launch. I'm a big fan of complete standalone experiences and it was never my plan to continually tinker with the game with regular content updates, room rebalancing, or DLC and the like. Considering this is my first game, I'm extremely proud of everything I managed to include for launch, but there are a few minor things that were not quite completed before our release date that I feel must be added to fulfill that original vision

Those inclusions will be added in 1.10, which will be the final major update to the game. It will be the definitive version of the game.

Among the planned inclusions in this final update: an overhyped arcade game, a curious house cat, accessibility features like color assist mode, controls remapping, cursor size/opacity settings, and widescreen support. Some UI/UX improvements, more variations for end-of-day manor descriptions and accompanying house illustrations, HUD display customization, final room/item balancing, and the addition of a handful of extra cinematics that I am still working on (the unlockable challenge modes actually have their own unique openings and endings!)

Holy crap, some of those QoL things. I love it! I live to be free of minor inconveniences!

... like, I want to play more right just because of that.

I just go the repellant finally to use on the foundation. As I mentioned earlier, my wife did the first 10 days of this and got the foundation on day 2 and just put it right at the first door lmao
Mine's in a pretty good spot. It's a spot down and right from the antechamber. It wasn't until way later that I realized I could use the repellent on it. But I'm fine with it being where it is.

So bit of an update:

- I did the reclaiming
- I have found a couple other neat Monk Blessing things
- I finished the tunnel, though I'm kind of confused by something that can happen here
- I found out what the weird note behind the third file cabinet key was about and did the thing there
- I found a second use for a specific key
- I found a new book
- I have a new cipher to... decipher, MATH???

Miscellaneous thoughts:
- So the Closed Exhibit has a paper crown but the cutscene when you reclaim has the real red crown, where is it?
- What is the significance of water? There's something weird going on here?
- I've seen three different colours presented in the throne room, I have no idea of the significance of the third?
- The Coat of Arms is significant and I'm trying to learn what the other ones might mean?
- What's with some of these cutscenes? Are there more? What do they mean?
- How to do something with the thing from the Blessing of the Monk? Not the Trove?

I did all three. One is a dude, one is the normal thing, but I think what you mean is the third and the significance of that? The delayed long stare? Yeah. It's different, but what does it mean?!

Do you mean the core stuff? I got one number out from something, but I got no clue what to do with it.

Technically you already know. Not even technically. Yeah.

Yes that one!? I don't understand the why on that one at all? The other two I get, but not that one? It has to have a purpose, right? Interesting that the three things from before that go back too. Is it related?

It's tied to that core stuff too. I think I know what you're referring to but I'm on the thing after that. It took me a while to figure that one out but something just clicked after a certain note.

The third box is different. Its made out of wood. Theres a distinct spiral inside of the lid that may be related to the stars? Thats as far as i can tell. Unless its related to the picture in lost and found.

If you want to know about the red crown you've been collecting the gems from it for a while now.

Spoiler: For TD only
The crown, oh are those the dismantled gems in the safes!? I guess that actually makes a lot of sense in hindsight. That's what you mean, yes?

For the third chest, that could be the spiral of stars for sure, I'm still chipping away at that one by one. Though the writing on that box now makes me think just how long the spiral goes on for? Assuming it's linked.

Yes, that's what I meant.

And idk yet. I got quite a few words into it so we shall see? It's already gotten pretty juicy just by itself.

I think I'm actually getting to the point where there's very little left to do now, though my save file has over 100 hours on it which is pretty great for an indie puzzle game that I got as part of the catalog.

Super end game spoilers. If you don't care about spoilers you can click.
I found a second blue door. I went in and... okay I'll be honest and say it's overwhelming. It feels like the final puzzle... and oooh boy, I played around with it a bit but had to stop. This one will take some time.

There's a lot of convoluted steps to take to get there, including keys and ciphers.

You can get there by following a sequence of ciphers that come along after the tunnel.

No end game spoilers for me. I quickly clicked into it and before finishing the first sentence I noped out. Luckily not really a spoiler for me as I assumed there was more to those.

Anyhow. Random observation after +100h.

Has anyone paid any attention to the license plate of the car in the garage?

I also noted that the garage works similarly to the antechamber for the thing.

Slowly working through the thread. Apologies for any multi-posts. Also, reluctant to reply to April posts as it’s June. First one I saw for reply is this.

Just getting to the first goal can take anywhere from a handful of hours (with a little luck) to an average span of 10-15h from what I've talked to folks. After that, there's all the other puzzles that deepen the game, all the lore and story behind the whole game, and so on. Quite a few folks have said it's their GOTY after Balatro. Unless something amazing comes along later this year, I agree.
Blue Prince > Balatro. The gameplay loop is far too short for Balatro when comparing the two, and the difficulty curve is brutal. I can’t remember how far I got. Maybe ante 10, and I just don’t see how to progress into the topmost antes. I think I’ve played that all I want to. But blue prince’s ability to be a roguelike while smashing through the boundaries of what defines the genre... 👍🏼

I like playing Balatro more when I got 15-20 minutes to burn on a good run. Though I do end up sometimes spending a good few hours grinding runs. Hell, I have it both on Steam and my phone now lol. But yeah. Balatro is definitely better in smaller chunks than the Prince. Still, I do enjoy most anything roguelike so I keep going back to it.

There is definitely a learning curve to figure out what you should go for. I've only recently started working on higher difficulty runs for some decks. I could give some tips I feel have helped me if you want. Or just look to see what some of the better people do on Youtube or something. There's a lot to learn from that game.

Have you found the thing that gives a hint to what it may mean?

On the surface the reference seems clear. But...
I haven't thought about it. The only connection I had thought about was that one of the coats of arms had a swan on it. Not sure if I've seen or read anything beyond that. (Though probably something went onto explaining why the swan is on the CoA, but I don't remember about that anymore or if that's even relevant lol.)

Between the swan, the spiral, and the numerous other repeated symbols I'm fairly convinced there's some larger metaphor or meaning that is going right over my head. I haven't been playing as much lately because I have limited things left to do, at least that I know of.

Me and my buddy think we are at the very end of the game. The latest sequence came to a conclusion with no additional threads. Careful googling suggests that no one has gone further than this point. Also suggests that what threads remain are lore-only, redundant clues, or distractions. And I am Mora Jai-ed out. Good game. I’d put it up there with the likes of Super Meat Boy, Braid, Limbo, and Fez. Aside from the fact that they all seem to share Indie Game: The Movie in common (damn I really need to see that film), they are all developers whom I said “what’s your next game gonna be? Actually, don’t tell me. Just take my preorder now”. (Except for Phil Fish, I followed through with Binding of Isaac, The Witness, and Inside. And if Fish ever stops sulking and finishes Fez 2 I’ll buy it).

Tonda Ros / Dogubomb join the list. I’ll buy his next game regardless. Don’t care. Take my money.

Edit: maybe wrong re indie game the movie

I got to the step after the water. The obvious next thing to do just left me kind of defeated. It's not "hard" to do, but just putting in the time to do what the game wants me to is just... meh. I just don't feel like it. So I don't know anymore. I might be done for now until there's a secret content update or I feel like finishing these last things? We shall see. Or we will not (hur hur hur).

you may be feeling blue, but it’s the last part of the game. Boxes are more important than paintings, but there’s at least four viable ways to get to the solution here.

I managed to smash out Dare mode over the weekend, and got a reasonable start on curse mode, which my buddy just completed. It just leaves the day 1 / 1 hour runs.
