In the aftermath of the fiery tragedy that claimed the lives of canadaguy, Kat, and Fool's Requiem, the villagers of Wulfwood were engulfed in a mix of fear and confusion. The town hall lay in ruins, charred remnants of its once-sturdy structure standing as a grim reminder of the dangers they faced. Determined to root out any remaining threats, the villagers convened in the village square to deliberate their next course of action.
After hours of tense discussion and mounting suspicion, the collective gaze turned toward Quagmire. His aloof demeanor and unexplained absences had not gone unnoticed. Whispers spread of his possible involvement in the recent horrors, and the need for decisive action became clear. Resolving to eliminate any potential danger, the villagers agreed that Quagmire must face judgment.
As dusk settled, they escorted Quagmire to the old oak tree at the edge of the square—the very spot where Dimmerwit's body had been cut down earlier for an honorable burial. The air was heavy with a somber silence, broken only by the rustling of leaves and the distant calls of night birds. Quagmire walked with his head held high, though a flicker of apprehension crossed his eyes.
The villagers tied a noose around his neck, their faces stern but conflicted. As they hoisted him up, Quagmire began to kick and utter his final protests, his voice strained. "You've got it wrong!" he shouted. "I'm not your enemy!"
Amidst his struggling, a folded parchment slipped from his jacket pocket and fluttered to the ground. One of the villagers noticed it and picked it up. Unfolding the paper, his eyes widened as he examined its contents.
"It's a wanted poster," the man announced, drawing the attention of the crowd. He held it up for all to see. The poster bore the name "Orange Kat" and featured a detailed rendering of a woman—the same woman who had perished in the unexpected and illegal arsonist blaze within the town hall.
Murmurs spread through the gathering. "That's Kat," someone whispered. "But what does this mean?"
As Quagmire's movements ceased and he hung lifelessly from the tree, the villagers pieced together the puzzle. The realization dawned that Quagmire had been a headhunter, tracking the outlaw known as Orange Kat. His presence in Wulfwood had been part of a mission to capture her, not to harm the villagers.
Regret mingled with the lingering fear. They had executed a man who might have been an ally in their fight against the unknown threats besieging their village. The weight of their actions pressed heavily upon them, a grim reminder of how desperation could cloud judgment.
With the shadows lengthening and the chill of night setting in, the villagers dispersed. Each returned to their home, minds troubled by the day's events. Doors were bolted, and candles burned low as Wulfwood settled into an uneasy slumber. The village was fraught with uncertainty, but one thing was clear—the line between friend and foe had never been more blurred.
As the moon rose high, casting a silvery glow over the quiet streets, the villagers could only hope that the coming dawn would bring some semblance of clarity to the darkness that enveloped them.
Quagmire has been executed by the village.
Quagmire was revealed as Headhunter.
