Why is it so empty?Went to the home opener today at Fenway. They scored 13 runs and still needed to bring in the closer!

This is what I was going to ask lol. My ASSUMPTION is it's still a couple hours before first pitch... otherwise... the Red Sox have fallen farther than I thought. Why is it so empty?
Rafael Devers has been traded to the Giants, and the return is just as bad as the Mookie Betts trade, if not worse.
If they move more talent for any reason this season Breslow should be fired and Henry boycotted until he sells the team to a competent owner. This is a disgrace.
I stopped following the team when they signed David Price. Then I moved to Florida and stopped really following baseball altogether. This is exactly it. It's a disgrace. The Red Sox brand was royalty in the sport. It's a marquee name with a rich history with the highest ticket prices, a museum of a stadium, a huge following that travels well, and this is how you treat them.
I never do this anymore, but I went on a twitter rant yesterday as it happened. Tagging the Red Sox and telling them all the injustices they have been doing, ruining the franchise. Making it a footnote in Boston's sports landscape. They should be spending at the top of the league, and now when they finally do make a signing that is reasonable by power hitter standards now, they move on from them for nothing. I don't see this year's team going anywhere so if you told me they traded him for two or three high level prospects to build a bigger young core (with all the complaining he did this spring) I could be talked into it. But they got less than nothing out of this. They sold his contract is all they did.
I was wearing my brand new green monster RAFAEL DEVERS shirt yesterday for the first time matching my daughter's Devers shirt as well! The last Red Sox shirt I bought for my kid? Mookie Betts. Can they make a John Henry and Tom Werner shirt next? I'll buy everyone one a shirt if it means booting these cheap owners out of town.
it’s funny cause they’re only a .5 game back of the wild card so there is a chance that they still try to compete. obviously there’s still a month before the deadline and things could change but they might not blow it upThey better try to just tank after this. Nah man, I am happy the Giants got a good player for next to nothing. I would want the Sox to do the same. But I don't see it with Harrison. I watched some film of him after the trade to see on this guy. Typically I'm a fairly decent "scout" on players, or at least I was 15 years ago. But I just don't see it with him. His mechanics are flawed and at 23 it may too late. I can't see him more than as a 3-4 in the rotation.I know as a Giants fan I'm probably the last person a Sox fan wants to hear from (except maybe the Boston front office) but shit like this is one of the worst parts of sports.
I've gone through this several times as a fan of teams in other sports but usually that has to do with a superstar wanting to leave a small market to go to fuckin LA. And in those situations I can get used to it because at its core its a human being deciding where they want to work, which morally I can't disagree with.
But I dont understand this move at fuckin ALL. I kinda understand getting off of Devers after poisoning the relationship and I honestly think Harrison is going to eventually be a GREAT pitcher, possibly an ace. But thats just a MAYBE. It just feels like a money move and very cynical.
They just traded their best player, Bregman and Casias are both hurt and the rotation is trash outside Crochet (who I don't see what they see in either if I'm being honest). I don't want them added. Trade others, get better assets and sell the team to an ownership that'll do something with it.it’s funny cause they’re only a .5 game back of the wild card so there is a chance that they still try to compete. obviously there’s still a month before the deadline and things could change but they might not blow it up
i get that but crazier things have happened. just last year with the Tigers. they were awful Javier Baez (who was not good) got hurt, the tigers sold at the deadline, then made a miracle run and made the playoffs. I know this is not the same situation but Baseball can be extremely random at times. i think what the red sox will do will depend on how they play for this next monthThey just traded their best player, Bregman and Casias are both hurt and the rotation is trash outside Crochet (who I don't see what they see in either if I'm being honest). But this is money to them. So they will do whatever keeps people spending on the team.

I get it. And Devers was being toxic, so maybe it's addition by subtraction. But I'd feel more apt to try it if Casas, Bregman and Yoshida weren't hurt. Story is also a hangnail away from an IL stint too. And the only one coming back MAY be Bregman.i get that but crazier things have happened. just last year with the Tigers. they were awful Javier Baez (who was not good) got hurt, the tigers sold at the deadline, then made a miracle run and made the playoffs. here's the other thing too and this just stems from me not really knowing the Red Sox roster but who do they have to trade? they could trade Story sure but who else. they're not gonna trade Crochet or Bregman. Crochet they just got this season to a decent sized contract and Bregman is the reason why this Devers situation started so it would be odd to trade him now. and Casas they're not gonna trade either so idk who they could trade awayOh, and i'll add that they prospects aren't fairing much better. Anthony has been abysmal at the plate and isn't getting every day play, Durran has been more of what I thought he was than the over performance last season. Campbell is barely at the Mendoza line. Mayer is the same. Their next most ready player is another OF that will mostly block the one the Sox just got for Devers. So... yeah, I stand by tank this season.
They don't have anyone worth a LOT, no. But they have depth, particularly in the bullpen that would be worth it to contenders. That's all I mean. Durran is a fine LF, but he's worth something too.here's the other thing too and this just stems from me not really knowing the Red Sox roster but who do they have to trade? they could trade Story sure but who else. they're not gonna trade Crochet or Bregman. 2004I’m not losing any sleep over the Red Sox making dumb decisions
Keeping holding on to the one good memory in your life2004
i mean they did win in 07, and 13, 18. more times than the Yankees in this centuryKeeping holding on to the one good memory in your life
Yeah but those other ones don’t mean as much to Red Sox fans. Also I’ve still seen more Yankee victories in my lifetime than they have seen from the Red Sox. I’m more upset at losing in 2001 than to the Sox.i mean they did win in 07, and 13, 18. more times than the Yankees in this century

But we also have the Bruins, Celtics and Patriots. Boston is the winningest sports city across the 4 major sports that only has ONE team per city. New York can only win more because they have two teams in every sport.Yeah but those other ones don’t mean as much to Red Sox fans. The worst part about losing to the Sox is the fact that their fans were hypocritical about players on their team at the time using steroids but are quick point it out for other teams
Per capita, Boston has more teams than NYCBut we also have the Bruins, Celtics and Patriots. Boston is the winningest sports city across the 4 major sports that only has ONE team per city. New York can only win more because they have two teams in every sport.
Cool, so Boston has a lot more championships per capital thenPer capita, Boston has more teams than NYC
The New York metropolitan area has a significantly larger population than the Boston metropolitan area. New York's metro area has a population of nearly 20 million, while Boston's metro area has roughly 4.8 million. New York City itself is also much larger than Boston, with a population of over 8 million compared to Boston's roughly 694,000

Right. So the original point stands and this is a mostly meaningless conversation.Yes, because they have more teams per capita

I mean you just provided context as to why there are more teams in New York and changed which specific way to look at it that ended to not changing the results.
I blame JonI mean you just provided context as to why there are more teams in New York and changed which specific way to look at it that ended to not changing the results.
So it was a bad word problem.
Yeah, most people blame me for shit. I've been blamed for WW1 before.I blame Jon
WereWolf 1.Yeah, most people blame me for shit. I've been blamed for WW1 before.
At this point, I don't even bat an eye anymore. It's easy to gaslight me into thinking I did something wrong. I'm married and a man after all.
