Which is absurd to actually think about...

Hartford and Quebec are HUGE hockey markets that would love to have NHL teams back. But no let's go back to failed warm weather cities repeatedly. It'll be different this time. We'll only wait 5 years to move them instead of 10!

He actively makes decisions that are BAD for the sport. I mean, let's not forget they only RECENTLY got a TV contract with ESPN again. NHL was dark on major TV networks outside the playoffs for YEARS.

How Bettman still has a job is beyond me and I can only ascertain it's because the salary cap institution made the owners so much. It's the "you're shitty at what you do except for the rich elitist fucks so we'll give you a multi BILLION dollar bonus to stay as commish even though you suck and are bad for the sport" deal Goodell has.

That's precisely what it boils down to. He makes the owners money. That's why he's remained in that position for so long.

i really hope it does stay as Hockey Club because that will be hilarious also it's a fan vote, I guess Utah could rig it so it's not Hockey Club but still

I don't like the Rockies name either.

Keep in mind, this is all purely my opinion. I am not a fan of the Utah team, so I've nothing vested in it. I just like teams with cool names (but more importantly cool color schemes and logos). They can choose whatever they want. I just doubt they choose hockey club because of the same reason Washington didn't stay as the Football Team and why Cleveland almost settled on Baseball Club for a year before going with Guardians: money. Sell all the new merchandise only to switch it and people rebuy.

Oh I completely agree that they're not sticking with "Hockey Club" for that reason.

I'm glad they won't be getting Yeti. I never liked that name for them. Mammoth is fine.

I'm just not sure they go with a name that can't catch quickly in other places.

Part of the reason the Golden Knights were as good as they were as quickly as they were was the name Vegas Golden Knights was catchy. It caught the attention of people OUTSIDE Vegas (myself included, I became a fan of theirs because their logo and color scheme were badass when they first came too). I think they have to consider that because to me, the best teams are the ones with universal marketing...

Like the Cowboys, the Yankees and the Lakers.
