Everyone stop what you're doing! It's happening! GW's own Alu is having a baby!! Come and congratulate him here: Need some help identifying this picture.
We're so happy for you, Alu!{{I learned long ago to never say things like "what's the worst that can happen..." or "It can't get any worse..." lol}}{{I mean, what's the worst that can happen? We all get drunk off merrow rutgut and the Carl comes and ambushes us?}}
{{All the better to try and talk our way out of this one{{I was more or less delaying my actions in case folks wanted to do something else. Since come later into this campaign... I'll be flying into battle. Fair warning.}}
{{If Kelly wasn't here to try to deceive the thing right now, I already had my own intimidation attempt ready to post to out pp you.{{All the better to try and talk our way out of this one}}
{{Got it skipper.}}@Jawneh , roll me a Strength (Athletics) check if you will. You've got a +5 in Athletics, just so you don't have to go look.
Zesty uses an intimidation check to attempt to get the Merrow to flee. (4)
{{Don't lowball yourself yet.{{I'm so embarrassed with my rolls I may just stop. Of course, it seems to be the rolls on the forums... all my rolls in D&D Beyond were ok lol.}}
{{This killed me btw XD}}He looks down at the talkative Halfling clinging to it's lower half, aghast at how quickly the small humanoid had packed some of it's kelp skirt into a small bowl and was now trying to light it
{{It does make me feel a tad better, yes... lol}}{{ @Jon, if it makes you feel any better, you're still rolling better than the Merrow did...}}
{{
"You ssssskinbagss sssuck! You're ass bad asssss Carl!" it whines, "Ssssssscrew thisss!"
{{{{It does make me feel a tad better, yes... lol}}

As the creature swims away, Zesty straightens up and eyes the deck of the ship. He scans from Moonsprout picking up loose kelp, Aims'Orreh cradling the barrel, Nac and Short Order standing at the read and finally to the cowardly captain and its crew. As Moonsprout continues to convince the captain to make right their cowardice, Zesty adds,
And you and your crew may want to actually secure the riggings and items this time lest someone get hurt.
Zesty begins walking away back to the front of the ship. He turns back to the captain one last time.
And get someone to clean up... one of you soiled yourselves.
Zesty disappears to the bow.
{{Fine I'm venturing to find a mystical device to make drinking easier.}}Oh, and @An Anatomically Correct Pineapple, while I was lol over the 'magic hammer creating booze' in the Inn/Tavern thread as we were getting into the vibe, I'm going to clarify early on that there's not actually any magical enchantment on the hammer Short Order carries. It's literally just a light hammer, not a magical item. Any belief that it actually acts that way will have stemmed from you and everyone around you when you start hitting fruit like Gallagher already being completely hammered.![]()
Something makes Aims' instincts tingle.Short Order steals a swing from the barrel of booze
{{Are you ready to potentially fail that as well and receive blunt damage from my fist as your reward?{{ @Ben is it too late to use druid craft to distract him with the sound of an animal?}}
{{I'm just glad to see your rolls are starting to suck too.}}
{{Putting a persuasion roll here, if needed}}
Moonsprout sidles up to the captain of the vessel.
Ay cap, seeing as how we totally saved the day while your cowardly crew, like, shivered and shrieked, I think its only fair that you repay the sums we paid for passage on this fine watercraft. After all, we're pretty much your own hired mercenaries at this point.
Roll for persuasion
Aims is aghast by the merrows puny attempt at stealing HIS barrels of rotgut. If he were holding something else he definitely would've chucked it at the thing as it was making a break for it. He quickly scans the barrel for damage and finds the claw marks. They seem to give the barrel a bit of character.
He overhears the others talking to the captain about compensation and chimes in himself.
Aims takes a deep breathe and bellows at the captain.
AND THIS BARREL OF ROTGUT IS MINE!
{{Fine I'm venturing to find a mystical device to make drinking easier.}}

Something makes Aims' instincts tingle.
Fellas, fellas! There's plenty o' drink for the lot of us! I say we take a drink together, while we discuss our compensation, eh cap'n?
Nac turns to the captain and stares pointedly.
{{This here. Can't wait for more!}}Ben: first of all, you're crushing it. The writing is awesome, hilarious, engaging. I love it. I was also planning for my backstory to be that I'd snuck on the boat.
{{It could've been your crit fail, it could've been since we didn't attack and kill the merrow so the captain was peeved as is, or it could be that I needed roll 20 or even higher to succeed. And the DM gets to pick all that! If the captain is an actual character with stats in the book, then that could also take effect. Sometimes it just be like that. }}Just one thing I don't understand -- Jawneh rolled high, shouldn't his action be allowed to be completed? Or did my critical fail just taint every subsequent action?
{{Firstly, I vote we simply humble up and make way to the actual campaign. More shenanigans can be had there. Secondly, you can still try to do that. He's not quite yet fully at our throats so who knows. And thirdly, I'd probably like to role play with the characters if it "makes sense" for us to talk in character to discuss it. OOC can be if we pose anything to Ben for one and also if want to plan out combat or make some more abstract plan in general that... might be weird in character. At least this is how I feel.Gang + Ben: Would it be worth trying to persuade the captain that we were promised passage if we performed a song/play/entertainment or whatever? Also, should these sort of questions for the group be addressed as character dialogue, or take place in curly braces, outside of character?
{{Oh shit, yeah my bad!}}{{Going to be a stickler here as you didn't action anything. Plus, there's was enough to catch up on after all that other crap.}}
{{Totally agree, this is awesome!}}Ben: first of all, you're crushing it. The writing is awesome, hilarious, engaging. I love it.
{{I agree, this seems like a good idea forwards.}}And thirdly, I'd probably like to role play with the characters if it "makes sense" for us to talk in character to discuss it. {{Just realized after I reacted that it wasn't real. Ouch{{fucking lmao on my fake toll. Probably should have actually done that
Also I'm loving this too, Ben. So no worries at all on how this has been or will be working}}
