Unless he truly did check Jon and CG on Night 2 and saw they were on the same team, leaving them for us to kill while he targeted someone else. Since there was no SK kill on Night 2, it would be reasonable to believe that. Zell targets CG & Jon, they're on the same team, no death. Night 3, Zell checks Tubby and himself, Jumpman protects Tubby and get injured, no SK kill.

How is “try again” the appropriate response when I asked a question regarding something I did not know the answer to?

I'm confused as to why Bodyguard wouldn't protect against the Evil Detective's check. A bodyguard night action comes before detective check night action hierarchy. The bodyguard role says that it protects against wolf AND solo killer attacks. Why would the evil detective be able to override protection?

Okay then we gotta believe that Night 3 2, Zell checked Tubby and himself, Jumpman protected Tubby and got injured, no SK kill. Zell wasn't able to get another kill off before dying.

It's worth mentioning, that she was responding to a scenario in which two people checked and one protected, the other (not protected) would still die.

therefore, if Zell checked Tubby and somoene else, Tubby would have remained alive, but someone else would have died. Only deaths at the hands of bad guys in night two were from the wolves.

After a tense day of the village finding their beloved school teacher murdered in his home and lobbing half-hearted accusations at one another, the villagers retire to their homes. The usual evening bustle is replaced by an eerie quiet as most fear leaving their homes, as they have no idea who the murderer is among them. Some are so superstitious that they insist werewolves are among them, despite a lack of any evidence.
A couple such residents believe they hear howling in the night and decide to brave the dangerous dark, determined to rid their village of evil.
Meanwhile, Alu is in his modest home, attempting to dry himself from FR's bizarre and unprovoked splashing earlier in the day. Suddenly, his front door is kicked in by a masked person holding a bow.
"How dare you desecrate our peaceful village! I'll make sure you never harm another soul!"
Bewildered, Alu barely manages to get out, "What? But I haven't--"
His attacker has already made up their mind, and looses an arrow before he can finish the sentence.
The Marksman shoots Alu. Alu is a villager! The arrow rebounds and kills the Marksman!

Raine was killed! Raine was the ?????
Bemused, Alu stares at the now-corpse in his doorway, a forgotten towel still in one hand. Why is everyone after me today? he wonders. Before he can decide what to do next, a passerby comes across the scene. "What's happened here?!" they demand from a safe distance, horrified.
Grateful to finally receive some assistance, he calls out to the figure, who's still masked by the night. "Thank the lord you're here! This person burst into my home and attacked me out of nowh-- uh... " As Alu is speaking, the figure steps closer and into the light spilling from the doorway, revealing an ominously swirling green potion in their hand, poised to be thrown. "Oh no, not again," he mutters under his breath.
"You've killed our lovely neighbor Raine in cold blood! How could you? You monster! Oh, poor Raine!"
"No, no, no, you've completely misunderstood this whole situation!" Alu throws up his hands in frustration, and the towel in his grasp flings wildly in the air.
"Vile fiend! You'll not get me, too!"
The Witch throws a deadly potion at Alu! Alu is killed! Alu was the ?????
The witch disappears into the gloom without looking back.
A chorus of howls emanate from somewhere nearby.

As dawn breaks, the villagers tentatively poke their heads out their doors and windows, trying to judge if it's safe to leave their homes. What carnage awaits them today? They don't have to wonder long, as a shriek rings out from Alu's home. Some townspeople initially retreat into their homes, but the murmuring of a growing crowd eventually draws even them out. As everyone gathers around to make sense of the grisly scene, a voice from the group calls out, "Hey, where's Smacktard?" People look around and realize he's the only one missing. Wordlessly, they make their way to his home, dreading the worst.
The door is slightly ajar, and their fears are confirmed by the smell wafting out of the crack. One brave soul covers their nose with a cloth and nudges the door open with their foot to reveal Smacktard torn to bits by teeth and claws, heart missing from what's left of his chest.
The wolves killed Smacktard! Smacktard was the ?????
Formerly close neighbors exchange looks of anger, grief, and suspicion. Apparently the "superstitious" townsfolk were right after all: Werewolves are among them.

The night has ended and the day has begun. The day will end at 10 PM PST tomorrow. Six votes are required to lynch.

Raine attempted to kill Alu, dies.
Witch kills Alu.
Kelly killed by wolves.

No other deaths.

Then Jumpman claims that someone attacked Tubby.

I read your other post as indicating protection does not work against evil detective. This post is much clearer

You're good. I think the confusion came from the initial question asking about two evil detective targets without one being the evil detective targeting themselves.

So, in summary:

Evil Detective targets two players other than themselves - Both players would die if on different teams
Evil Detective targets two players other than themselves, one player is protected - Protected player lives, Unprotected player died
Evil Detective targets two players other than themselves, two players are protected - Nobody dies
----
Evil Detective targets two players including themselves - Targeted player dies
Evil Detective targets two players including themselves, targeted player is protected - Nobody dies

This validates Zell targeting Tubby on Night 2. This would also, in my opinion, bolster the claim Zell had about cg and Jon.

No this proves he made it up to stir this exact scenario up. Because he could not both check Tubby against himself AND check CG OR me, let alone us both.

I'm still not 100%. But I don't want to change my vote out of fear of playing into kut's game.

My biggest issue with kut is that a lot of what he's saying feels like he's just trying to find something that sticks without real logic behind it. Makes it feel like a smoke screen. He's made a few arguments that literally don't match the facts as I see them.

Whereas Jon has the weakest alibi.
