I didn't recognize the level either. Though if it's from one of the DLC then I wouldn't know. Doesn't look like one of the original ones.

It was A Hat in Time. The screenshot is taken from the bit where you come up to Queen Vanessa's mansion, shortly before being utterly disappointed by what is contained within because the internet built it up be some horrifying level in the middle of a kids game.

Now... is it scary for kids? Sure, maybe, but the people reacting were grown adults, not kids. I got a bigger scare over realizing the invincible statues at the front door that activate after you pass them.

Hint: This game came out in an era where the third person shooter genre was going through its cover-based phase and was developed by a company who later also made a game for another established genre while going against type.

Was this too hard a game to use? I tried to get a shot with as much information as possible without showing the title card.

Hint: It's an arcade style shooting gallery type game and no real story. It was likened to a racing game except with guns. Hell, its arcade-like nature is emphasized by the fact that the publisher had a major arcade presence in the 80s and 90s.

And without your hints I'd have never guessed it in a million years. I correctly guessed that your publisher hints referred to Sega and figured based on your shot that it was PS3/360 era and this was the only pure third person shooter they published. Your other hints make sense now but even as a big fan of Project Gotham Racing I had no idea they ever made a shooter.

weapon select looks like gears, but the graphics don't look shitty gritty enough

Also, Gears' weapon select is temporary and not a constantly visual part of the UI... and it shows up in the middle

No... I know I've seen this before. The font for "Act 2 Mission 4" and the fact that the weapon select has ammo totals not magazines both are suuuuper familiar.

Its not Lost Planet, not Bulletstorm, not Gears. Has to be something I've played a considerable amount, but isn't an FPS... Very likely an Xbox 360/PS3 era game...

Ok, I figured it out. Its NOT a game I've played. I'll let someone figure it out, I checked YT to verify my guess. There's a very clear indicator on this screenshot that should give it away.
