The league has reportedly come up with their own solution to the LTIR abuse. They're suggesting a rule where each team's 20-man lineup must be captain compliant in each playoff game, meaning you can exceed the cap on your roster so long as they don't all play at once.

Teams will find a loophole around that too.

It's better than what we have now.

Like obviously a team needs flexibility in the cap if a highly paid player is legitimately injured, but just pretending the cap doesn't exist in the playoffs is silly.

Mark my words, that's exactly what will happen when the success dries up. You'll see those attendance numbers go down. People are on the wagon now because they're winning. Those are fair weather fans, not true die-hards.
There are not many people in Florida sporting Panther garb. Maybe it's because I'm in the Tampa area, but Panthers gear I see are old school powder blue ones. Fans that have been there for a while through the bad. No one cares about this team and it's Bettman's bullshit that have made them a success. Not talent.

Cap shenanigans is a problem. At no point in the season, or postseason, should being over cap be ok. If someone is on IR and their cap is waived, they should be forced to be cap compliant when the player isn't on IR. Period. None of this crap that you can IR players till post season starts then you're over cap by millions.

Make it so you're only able to be 10% over the cap for injury related reasons at any time. You SHOULD struggle when good players are out instead of allowing teams to go out and get other superstars then throw a super team out in the playoffs. It's called development.

I'd argue Zito's work as GM played a huge role in constructing that team. He deserves credit for turning a team that has largely been a joke throughout its history into a bonafide cup team. They have a formula that's brought them great success as a hockey team, but as a market, we all know Florida will never have or develop a cult-like following that other known hockey hotbeds have.

LeBrun saying that Marner's considering a 2-year deal at around $12M-$13M, and believes Dallas is a potential candidate to be interested in his services. The former should be an immediate red flag to anyone interested in signing him. That makes it abundantly clear he's chasing the bag for his next contract. As for Dallas doing that, I can't see that happening. They don't have the cap space and since it would most likely require them to move Robocop, that would be plain stupid on their part.

Happened 2 weeks ago, but in case anyone missed it, Atlanta has unfortunately gotten over another hurdle as Forsyth County Commission has given them the green light to get an arena constructed.

Buffalo really has become a joke. Remember when they drafted Eichel and everyone thought they were on the rise? Yeah me neither, but I liked Eichel.
Same, but Buffalo had to fuck things up so badly with him that he ended up leaving the team. A consequence of fucking around and finding out when the man needed surgery and they wouldn't let him have it.

Talks between the Bruins & Islanders have surfaced. Sweeney announced that he was willing to trade the 7th overall pick, and the Islanders are reportedly interested in moving into the top 10 in order to select a hometown guy in James Hagens. Main pieces in the package would involve Boston trading the 7th overall pick to the Isles for Noah Dobson.

Oh good... another third liner with "spunk." Just what they would need....

The kid doesn't score and has had one above average season.

Pass... please.

Absolutely. Unless you're getting a star young player, keep the damn pick... why sell it for at best a third or fourth liner?
Depending on who Boston wants in the draft, I could see them trading up or down. Good news on the Dobson front though, cause it's been reported Montreal is pulling ahead in the race now. Rumors is that the Habs offer both their firsts + roster player.

You need not worry about Dobson anymore, @Jon. Montreal completed the trade for him, trading their firsts for this year + Heineman for him.

Speaking as a Bruins fan...

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! KEEP SITTING IN MEDIOCRITY, YOU FLEECED BUMS!

**Ahem**

Yes yes, jolly good.

Or maybe.....maybe Sweeney goes off the board with the pick! o_o
I'm ok with moving back if you're not in love with who is there, but don't settle and don't get screwed.

Remember when the B's had 3 picks in a row in 2015? They made trades and ended up with 3 firsts. Weren't i love with any players, and tried to sell the picks and couldn't get anyone to move into the picks. So they ended up selecting Jacob Zboril, Jake DeBrusk and Nick Senyshyn, 13th, 14th and 15th overall, reaching on all 3.

DeBrusk is the only one that had a career, and not a 14th overall career. Zboril was traded (with a THIRD) for Andrew Peeke. And he's now in a Chech league and out of the NHL. Senyshyn was awful, was traded for a FIFTH to Ottawa and he's in Germany now (I think).

Don't put yourself in a position to settle on something and reach on talentless players. But don't sell the picks for garbage. If the Isles like someone in that spot and you don't, trade it, but get value. A top 6 forward or a top 4 defense at LEAST. But if you can't get that and there is someone you like, then take the player.

But dear lord, at least get a good player and a 1st swap...

We could do better, Jonny boy. Boston trades up before reaching! :p
