It's because if I'm around in Day 2, I'm not a townie. It's really that simple.

I don't believe anyone even as a townie, I'm just not alive long enough for people to see I play that style as a townie too.

Our fellow wolf was toying with the idea of not killing until the illusionist was dead to make it seem like all the wolves were dead and hide from Jawneh, but then we remembered the Bell Ringer, so the kill presumably got locked in.

My annoyance with the medium, etc. roles that can resurrect or talk to the dead, is that it means the dead threads don't have all the information available even after you perish. I expect death to be a dawning epiphany of "oh that mother fucker" when you find out who everyone is and get to enjoy their plays with full knowledge.

I guess you could always put the revealed roles in a "HIDETHANKS" tag, and anyone who reacts to it to learn the roles becomes ineligible to be revived. Still wouldn't solve potentially talking about it in the thread, but at least you'd have some idea of who'd read it. Kinda like reading the roles requires them to cross the veil and they're no longer in limbo to be revived/communicate.

I support it.

Whenever I consider running my own, I can never decide between just using the same Zell roles everyone's used to and thus making the game run more smoothly, or switching it up with some new ones that people are going to have to learn and therefore be slower.

The difference, I've found as someone having tried creating similar from the ground up is polish. Zell's game is based off a real one, with little deviation and a lot of trian and error. Creating one with your own sets of rules just means going through those hiccups.

I think the challenge with new iterations is there's so much to learn/know about each individual game that for the people who try to get really immersed in it, it lacks the same draw. You just end up watching for playstyles over other role mechanics and how they interact.

You're fine. I wasn't super sure if everyone would know what those terms meant, so I played it safe.

There's a semi-running gag in the r/anime community that any time a teaser image for a popular series is posted with no amplifying information, that it means they're planning to announce a Pachinko machine based on the property. It's not usually the case, but it's apparently happened enough for it to become a joke.
